@@JoelStoeber-yt2sd whatever man….my parents went from a Range Rover to a Genesis SUV, my neighbor went from a 5-series to a Genesis sedan and a coworker went from a Lexus to a Genesis. Do a little research and you’ll see the majority of Genesis buyers are former BMW, Benz, etc owners and not middle income earners earning just enough to afford a Genesis. People want value. I live in the same neighborhood as the Triple F Collection (no where even close by a million miles as wealthy as they are) but we have an Aldi with Range Rovers and Porsches filling the parking lot 😂 People aren’t buying a Mercedes or Bimmer just because of the name anymore. Heck….the most popular SUV in my neighborhood (average home is $650k+) is the KIA Telluride 😂

What happened to the podcast with ale

That 27” display (saw it first on the new Santa Fe) was disappointing the first time I saw it. We traded a 2022 Kona for the 2024 Kona and it also has that display. Both of us very much like that new, wider display. It is easier to view and the passenger can view all parts of the display including the speedometer area which was difficult in the original format. Having that wide screen closer makes glancing at the map or other display items feel safer because it is close to the normal view you’re scanning. The previous screen required moving your eyes to the upper center console area and locating the map. This newer style is much easier to glance at. As an older driver (meaning I’m more used to looking over my shoulder), the new features such as the blind spot camera being displayed where the speedometer or tach is makes it feel as a safety hazard. You tend to look at the dash and not outside the car. Granted, you may be receiving better information than a quick glance over the shoulder, but it is a hard habit to relearn. Also, the Lane Keeping function practically requires the use of the turn signal to change lanes. Otherwise, the wheel will try to correct back into the original lane as you attempt that lane change. You do not have to wrestle that attempt, but does remind you that the turn signal should be used because with the signal in use, the steering wheel does not give that corrective action. In fact, this car will actually change lanes on its own with the use of the signal if the blind spot and other cameras are clear of obstacles.

Very nice SUV’s however don’t be fooled into buying one of these new (lease instead) because of the long warranty. A 3 year old model has already lost more than 50% of its value.

I just turned in my 3 year old gv80. It lost exactly 40%. Not over 50%. BMW loses 44% according to moneycalculator.

@@skeeterman7144 a fully loaded 21 GV80 was 78k with tax. They are now selling for about 45k. So that means trade in was about 40k. That’s a 48% loss.

The Genesis is a good looking car

It’s not a ‘sporty’ vehicle. But don’t you then wonder why those stupid paddles are behind that steering wheel? Even my 2024 Kona has them and that car will never be mistaken for a sports car despite how much we very much like it..

To anyone saying that Korean cars are POS…..remember Hyundai also makes battle tanks and they’re selling like hotcakes (just as most Korean cars are).
