Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Did GM do enough with the new duramax? I have a 2024 and 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 to see if they did! MPG +|| 0-60 acceleration with dragy!

    Glad Banks just tore down and observed the internal design changes GM made to the 2024 Gen 2 L5P engine. It’s impressive.

    I traded in my 22 ram and bought a 23 Silverado High Country 3500 long bed, I kind of prefer the front end of the 23 more than the 24 but it's a give and take, thank you for the video JB.

    I like the 2024 except for the gauges. I would rather have the old school 2023 style gauges.

    The Turbo and pistons were also updated , better combustion with the new pistons and faster spooling turbo 10 blades on the inducer side and 11 on the Gen 1 turbo

    Have you done the same trip with the 2024 LTZ gasser. Be nice to see direct comparisons

    If you record the trip time, then you can figure the average speed of the trip which will give the best explanation for MPGs. Better yet, calculate the gallons per hour used at speed. Much better for comparisons depending on speed.

    JB, I love your reviews on here, I think they’re some of the more honest reviews on this platform. I like how you talk through your thought process (just like every man on here, “I’d do it if” that’s me test driving lol. EXACTLY!) you just come across like a normal dude like us, I value that. Thanks for sparing the super complex numbers game (if a get a ratio of X squared at 37 degrees C but at an altitude of 6500” and the barometric pressure on this blahblahblah bullshit. Means nothing to me.) I’m simple, Gimme the axle, payload, gvwr and the other #’s of what I can and can’t tow. That and the extra cool tech that comes with those models. HP, torque, real world gas mileage. Keep hitting these home runs my friend.

    Tap the brake pedal to trigger the exhaust brake. Just coasting on level ground, there is a significant delay before it takes any effect. I can drive nearly single-pedal by just tapping the brake and then taking my foot off. It will haul down to maybe 15mph, then I use the service brakes the last few feet before the stop sign. Engaging tow/haul mode makes it much more aggresssive as well. Would be more interested to see MPG for a 25 mile, 55 or 75 mph cruise-engaged hwy run, starting with engine fully at temperature. Cold start, City driving/short cycle as you did isn't where the diesel shines and most folks aren't particularly concerned with the outcome. We want to know what it's capable of on a steady cruise. The hwy fuel savings vs the gasser, combined with the solid resale is a major selling point for the diesels.

    There seams to be differing opinions about turbo engine performance at elevation. Some say it's not effected while others say it clearly is. Either way it's a fact that a turbo engine will deal with thinner air better than a naturally aspirated engine.

    When you were doing the comparison the older model was left in Auto 4 wheel drive where's the newer model what's a two-wheel doing the mpg

    Elevation affects both NA and FI. But NA suffers much more. FI is the best way to keep power. Im very impressed with the improved 0-60 though. Was not expecting that. It’s probably because it makes more torque earlier in the power band. As opposed to having an overall increase of 65 ft lb.

    Nah I mean FI for Forced induction vs NA or naturally aspirated. Turbocharged is a form of forced induction and so is supercharged vehicles. It minimizes the lesser air density issues for performance. I guess FI could have been interpreted as fuel injection

    I have traded my 2020 F250 power stroke for a 2024, 3500 Chevy Duramax high country Let me tell you wanted the ride quality in the Ford. It was absolutely garbage. I hated the passenger seat. Oh he’s shaking. Had transmission problems but I do have to admit the Ford had more power way more. Also, I got better gas mileage on the Ford.

    Can you tell me the difference in a 2023 duramax that has lowered gvwr and one that doesn't? What components are different?

  • @matthewanderson9912
    @matthewanderson9912 Жыл бұрын

    Well that did seem a little slow for the 2023 but regardless HD trucks are pretty slow anyhow. I guess speed is relative and you have to keep their performance in context but they are all painfully slow compared to something that’s actually fast. And yes elevation affects the turbo too just not nearly as much as an NA engine. I also agree that if the 2023 was 10k cheaper I’d definitely pick it over the 2024 lol.

    Turbo and supercharged engines are affected by altitude but not to the extent that normally aspirated engines are. The correction factor in drag racing is much less for boosted applications. I thought for sure the 24 would have been quicker than it was in the 0-60. I watched a video of the 24 Silverado 2500HD gasser and it was .75 seconds quicker 0-60.
