Oh cool! I went looking for this a few days ago because your 2023 one worked great for me last year (with some modifications - cross data between owned books and read books and borrowed books, different selections, adding a supplementary tab for the more complex habit tracker so that it automatically adds together the audio time and pages read that I do each day and so that I can break down everything by book, adding about 1500 lines to the owned books list...) and I was worried since you hadn't posted anything in a while. I was planning to create a template from my 2023 one, but I'll check this out, too. I like the new stats pages and that's the kind of thing I'm least interested in setting up myself. I'll probably create some sort of Frankenstein monster spreadsheet that has aspects of both.

OMG! I bought the 2024 tracker, and it is amazing! Thank you SO much for putting this together! I was trying to make my own excel reading tracker, and I have no where near the excel knowledge that you do and you saved me hours, if not days, of time. This is going to make it SO much easier for me to gather data for my monthly/yearly wrap up videos as well as track my book spending. I am so happy you included an ARC and series tracker! I try to read as many ARCs as I can and review them for my channel, so the ARC tracker is so convenient for me. I also love and appreciate that you kept it so affordable. Ok I'm keen to try this spreadsheet. Next video I will watch will be to understand it. My boyfriend has been visiting from Melbourne for the past 9 days and I've only finished one book so far this year because I've been busy during my usual reading time! I finished 101 last year! A Woman Is No Man is so depressing, it's taking me so long. No more depressing literary fiction is my goal for 2024. I've set my goal for 50 for this year but I hope I can get a higher number but I don’t want to put pressure on myself. I definitely want to read more diversely. I just bought an own voices Pasifikia mythology book that I'm excited about. I'm excited for Kelly-Ann Maddox's next book, I have it on preorder. I just preodered the new Peter S Beagle, I'm Afraid You Have Dragons and I'm so excited Jasper Fforde is finally releasing the sequel to Shades of Grey, I can't remember what it's called. I read Shades of Grey when it came out, I loved it.

My only question is do the DNFed ones count as read on the stats? I remember for last years one I had to edit it so that I could still track them in the books list but didn't want them in the stats - I'm cool to do that again, just wondering!

Only thing I think that is missing is a tab where you can see all the covers of the books you've read. Like the 24 in 24 but for all the books you've read this year. I wonder if it's possible next year to have an option for the bookshelf to be colour coded based on your star rating? Other than that this is incredible thanks for all your hard work!

This is my first time purchasing one of your spreadsheets after hearing about it thanks to Gavin! I LOVE it so much already! (I went with the purple 5 year option.) The individual star ratings is just on the yearly. The 5 year one just shows 5 stars for each year. I do show how to add star columns and the process is the same for the 5 year if you would want to track others!

The black is the easier to change as the borders will be black instead of like green. Borders dont change with the theme, weirdly!

Does anyone know how to extend the formula for the bookshelf titles tab? I’ve tried everything I can think of but I’m missing almost half my reads so far this year and it’s bumming me out lol.

Ok I love your spreadsheet and I got it, but i wish it was easer to edit on mobile, works great on pc, but i do most of my reading away from home and keeping track of every thing on the go works best with my style. I was wonder if it is possible to set up a google form that could populate the results from that form into the spreadsheet for when i finish a book?

I do wish Google sheets was better on mobile! You probably could, all the questions would have to be in the order of the data tab info. I havent tried to link a form to an existing sheet before

I am so sad I didn't have a spreadsheet like this last year :( I read 480 books and can barely recall anything aside from the titles and dates I recorded in a notes app. Definitely picking it up for this year! Would it be too difficult for me to tweak your 2024 spreadsheet to also work with 2023 dates? Or would the calendar view not work.

I use the books owned tab last year to make sure I didn't buy duplicate books while shopping in the bookstores. since its on google sheets, i could always look at it from my phone if needed. Is there a way of adding the books owned back in from the prior year? I don't want to mess up any formulas. I love the new one; I got the ultimate one in purple for 2024 :) looking forward to another year of book tracking!

As an avid reader, my "Bookshelf titles" tab is almost completely full. Is there a way to extend it past what its preset at?

I’m not sure if I missed it but is there a way to change the dates order? Here it’s day/month/year while usa it’s month/day/year and I’d rather it be the way I’m used to

you can select the column, go to Format - > Number -> Custom Date/Time to change the format of dates!

Hey- does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried to Google it, but I'm not having luck. I did the transfer data to existing spreadsheet (my Owned Books) but the genres and book cover colors have an invalid saying an input must fall in specific range. And I can't change the theme on that page either. I'll keep trying to look the issue up and if I find a solution, I'll reply with it!

Yes! I believe it is because I renamed the Selections those come from. Go to your new owned books tabs on your new spreadsheet. Select the column with the Genres. Go to Data -> Data Validation. It will have Dropdown from Range selected. Where you can select the range, delete what is there and put in SelectionGenres. It should update to Genres. You may have to edit your Genres to match the list if you havent already in the selections. Then select the column with book covers. Go to Data -> Data Validation and where that Range is put in SelectionBookCover. I hadn't realized that renaming those areas would change the owned data!

@@shaunt3974 the color scheme can be changed all over at once! The paint bucket option opens and there is a theme listed with a pencil. Click that and it will change the whole spread. The graphs sometimes need to be edited further, Google only really changes those to appealing colors for like the first 8 things and then they make stuff up 😵‍💫

Are you just adding selections under existing categories? Adding rows where the error is occurring should eventually list them all, though the sheet may not look pretty because it changes the sizes of everything around it. If you are trying to add whole new categories, that is a little different

I created a new row where you said to but I had trouble putting it in the box, I copied and pasted, then I got stuck trying to fix the border. The only category I'm particularly worrying about is the Publishers. I'm always finding new publishers to record. The others I can deal with, I like reading books about animals, I can just swap that for smut instead of making a category. I am not sure exactly what genre that is but I'm pretty sure I don't read it. Thank you for replying.

Thanks, but I had something different in mind, and I thought that using this sign ;) it's obvious that my comment had irony in its core, but that's a problem with writing. I have no problem with colours, and all those spreadshits are available in many versions. My comment was rather some kind of observation that struck me. Those spreadsheets are a great tools for people who love reading, books and so on. And for me they are neutral, no female-oriented or male-oriented and what suprised me was that 99,9% of comments are from female YT users. I'm sorry if you or any other girl here felt bad because of my comment, that was not my intention. I'ts amazing job and I thought that male part of YT also will appreciate this and put a word or two in commentary section.
