Detail on passport expirations: if the country lets you stay after your passport expires, they’re opening the door to allowing you to stay indefinitely, and also be eligible for support payments! There is NO WAY they want that to happen, so they ensure you have a passport which is valid until at least six months AFTER the day of your departure flight. So if you are flying out on the 15th of June, your passport must not expire before the 15th of December. Get your new passport ordered at least 4 months before you plan to travel! Be forewarned!

Countries that have this rule, it is 3 months from your return date. We have had clients who ignored our recommendation to renew and were denied boarding because the expiration happened within 3 months of while they were on the trip. Some airlines will let it slide but a diligent attendant won't. So I agree...start the renewal process a minimum of 3 months but preferably 4 months.

We are going to Slovenia this summer. This will be our first overseas trip and we are excited.

England, Wales, and Ireland end of April through the 2nd week in May.

I used ai to plan our trip to the French Riviera last year and it was on point with my back up research. I’m using it again this year for the next European trip. Love it!

I'm going to Ireland in June!!! Tried to click on your link above for your trip in July but it's not working. Went in 2018 and spent 13 days driving the entire Irish coast. We stayed at a different place every night. A mixture of B&Bs, Air BnBs, hostels and one night at a real castle. This time around, I'm focusing on two coastal towns that I fell in love with in 2018 and am driving straight across the country this time to enjoy the hidden heartlands. 13 days again this year but Im staying multiple nights in my two return places. The charge for Venice will only apply to day trippers, those staying in Venice overnight already pay a tourist tax. (As they do in most Italian cities.) It's because day trippers tax the infrastructure of Venice (water, sewage etc.) but contribute very little to its economy.

Most cruiselines and land packages have included the fee in their costs. Be sure to check with your travel planner to avoid surprises. It is actually needed in these places to curb the number of cruisers that come in for just a day and don't contribute much to the economy.

In September, we will go on a Mediterranean cruise, starting in Naples!

Going on a 14 day Baltic cruise in May . We leave from Amsterdam . This is the first time I heard of paying to go into Amsterdam. I must check it out. Thanks for the info.

Great info and solid tips!! Cannot wait for you to join us in Ireland. To add to your passport tip, current processing is about 8 weeks without expediting. When it comes to AI, you can save a little time with itineraries and getting ideas, but once you have that, using a travel advisor that has been there will save you time and money in the long run AND give you an insider to help when/if things go wrong. Travel insurance is a MUST! We include a quote with every trip. I have annual plan myself. I don't travel without it! Lastly, I could not agree more with your book early trip. Italy has been the #1 requested destination for US citizens for years, followed by Greece and Ireland. 8 months is a solid time frame for those for planning. Africa, I would start closer to year out. We will be finalizing an Africa trip for 2025 soon. Maybe a certain Gypsy would like to join us....😊❤ So far this year, I have on the books: Bahamas, Cancun, Greece, Ireland, the Maldives, Croatia and Dominican Republic.

I'm so sorry... In my head I was thinking about Northern Ireland no longer being part of the European Union. HOWEVER, ALL of Ireland is absolutely historically and culturally European. My apologies for a tongue that moves faster than the brain 😂 ❤️

Yes! If you’re staying inside the city you won’t have to pay the fee 😊. I believe the entrance fee is to help offset the fact that the day visitors are not paying any accommodation taxes. Have a great time!!

I'm sorry to hear about your dads passing, my heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I am Dutch and never heard about a fee to get into Amsterdam? We (a lot of E.u countries) have touristtax. But thats a tax you pay p.p.p.n in hotels/b&b etc. We pay that also when traveling our own country and its not much (depending on stars of the hotel,country,city etc)

Thank you ❤️. The Amsterdam increase in tax is mostly included in the accomodations taxes, but there is also a daily fee that is charged to tourists visiting coming off of cruise ships. That daily fee is increasing from 8 Euros to 11 Euros this year. Not exactly the same as the Venice fee, but similar 😊

Most of the surprises that we have planned are for a specific river cruise line or a specific destination. So you have an idea that it will be in a certain area. You just don't know specifics.

Forget about reimbursement. Our flight from Germany to the the US took three days instead of one. No reimbursement from British Airlines at all. One advice: never fly with British Airlines
