The good part (for existing owners at least) is the resale value. I sold my 2020 hybrid Cruiser last August to the same Toyota dealership I bought it from for $3000 less than what I paid for it, with about 65000km on it.

Well, the good thing about the Toyota eCVT is that it isn't really. It doesn't use belt and pulleys like a conventional CVT and will probably not fail before 100K KM like a normal cvt.

Hi there, I am shocked that you in Australia have to wait so long for a car after order is done. In Romania, Europe, there is an waiting time of max 4-5 months after the down payment is given. We are not in 2020-2021 anymore. I am really surprised. All the best and greetings from Europe.

I ordered a rav4 cruiser hybrid awd. Dealer said 24 months. I'm currently driving a mg zst top spec, not happy with it for a multitude of reasons. But it will do the job for 2 years until they tell me the car has arrived. Most likely be a new version of the car by the time I get it. And probably will be 10k more then the price I have been quoted which is 60k. Compared this review to car expert review with Paul who said it's not a good car. So hard to believe these reviewers until you drive it yourself.

I have a 2023 awd cruiser. It's a great car. Almost 1000km on full tank. Good suspension on smooth and Bumpy roads except when u hit ditches. Great safety technology all coming standard, with heat and cooled front seats. 360 camera is awesome. Lots of rear space and the boot is way bigger than a cx5 or even a cx60. In a straightline it's not a slow car when u putit in sport mode

Paul at Car Expert reviewed this car when it first came out and was blown away by how good it was. He couldn't praise it enough. I'm surprised in his new review that he preferred the Nissan Xtrail hybrid. Most other reviewers said the Xtrail hybrid isn't as good as the RAV4 hybrid drivetrain. I have the 2023 RAV Hybrid Cruiser. It is an excellent car. The only fault is the engine is a bit noisy under hard acceleration. Other than that it is the best car I have owned by far.

We are picking up a RAV4 hybrid this weekend. We had ordered and were waiting for a Corolla Cross but suddenly needed a car. The local Toyota dealer could not find a Corolla Cross available but had two new RAV4 hybrids available. After a test drive we agreed to buy one. I hope we like it as I did have my heart set on a Corolla Cross.

I bought my RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser in early 2021 and it got delivered just before Xmas 2021. Oh what a Xmas present🎉. 2 years down the track and still so good. Super cheap servicing from Toyota and amazing fuel economy. Superb handling (for an SUV), good power and loads of space. The only thing that is possibly better is the RAV4 Prime. Unfortunately not available in Oz.😢 It such great value too, you’d think the rest of the industry would just have copied it, but no it’s still miles ahead.

Thanks guys. Fun video! Future owners should know of these issues: Car is NOT quiet. Any hybrid powertrain makes for an unrefined experience overall. We also own a gas Corolla Cross and that is much quieter overall. Road noise is above average. Interior is quite plasticky. And if you have heated steering wheel, it is extremely hot with only one level. We still recommend gas for everyone until electric is mainstream.

So, let me get this right. Tomorrow, I walk into my local Toyota showroom and place my order for the hybrid. Said salesperson, (he/she/they/them/him/her) gleefully accepts my non-cash deposit (as cash is prohibited now) without even blinking an eyelid and informs me of said, two year waiting period. As I turn to leave, I question if at that time, will I receive all the expected design/software/running gear updates indicative of a 2026 model, or is my car a current 2024 model about to be built as my order is now put in a queue. Basically, am I receiving a 2024 model in 2026??

  • @MaxFromSydney1

    @MaxFromSydney1

    6 ай бұрын

No, you get the model that arrives off the boat at the then price Toyota want to charge you. Putting down a refundable deposit just gets you in a queue for an unknown spec at an unknown list price with an unknown dealer mark-up, to be delivered at an unknown date. But the good news is that it will be a Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid. But what if you get to the head of the queue in 2 years time and you can’t cop the then price? Your current car has got an extra 2 years of depreciation and all the available new cars have 2 years of price rises on them compared to current prices…

It's not just the fuel but the range. Who wants to refill every 450km on the CX-5... I get 950km per fill up on the RAV4. Not to mention the space, the tech, the remote services app. The Mazda drives better, sure. But you're stuck with a rotary knob for the screen and old school gauges and it's cramped af.

The real life combined fuel consumption is 6,8 l/100 km!!!! I use it in city and on speedways, in Europe. Speedways are the real enemy of this car. At 130 km/h the appetite is well above 7,5 l/100 km, way above 8 l in the alps. The biggest issue is the huge noise and vibration of the engine at speedway tempo. The cabin is cheaply insulated, the wheels, wind and engine noise make you feel like you drive at 180-200 km/h. This is a practical, affordable family car, but avoid speedways or drive with the trucks in the slow lane to spare fuel. Not a bad car, but highly overrated by US and AUS reviews. BTW most of the facelift was already introduced in the 2023 Europen lineup. Along with the cheap rear turning signal bulb.

It could be because in AUS most states the highest limit on speedways is 110 km/h, so the fuel consumption and noise are not that bad compared to Europe. My experience was around 6.5-6.8 l/100km on a 110 km/h motorway.

Honestly, you can buy a used Q5 or Q7 diesel for this sort of money....and yes, servicing is higher, but not out of reach through a good euro independent and the driving experience, refinement, power, economy and build quality is lightyears ahead.

A used Q7.. isn't that a notorious money pit?? People who are looking to get into a new Toyota are looking for the opposite of what a used audi Q buyer would be looking for. A used audi buyer is willing to deal with potentially huge headaches for a nicer driving experience when it works.

Why does every car journo have to "brake boost" it on launch. On a non-turbo car. Or even worse, an electric. You're holding your foot on the brake to build boost in an imaginary turbocharger? The car doesn't even have a torque converter to stall up... its a CVT. You guys are bang on about incandescent bulbs instead of LEDs, surely in the 24 months of waiting they could have figured out LEDs. Penny pinching at its best, like no drivers seat map pocket.

I wouldn't buy a Rav 4 with a 1 month wait as they are not that great. The claimed economy is false unless you only drive 100 km. Try a 1000 km and return trip, then see the real economy figures.😊

My main longer trip might be 600km return with no recharge option at midpoint. So say 550km on fuel at 6.5l /100km is roughly 36l so $65 plus the initial charge cost, still pretty good overall. What other vehicles of similar size can offer that kind of return ?

Absolute waste of money. It’s unrefined, noisy, bland driving experience for the money, there’s other SUVs that are nicer to drive and overpriced servicing.

I'd rather walk than sit in another Toyota ever again. 50k for that is insanity. The plastics are nearly as bad as a hilux and thr cvt is the final nail in the coffin.

Incomparable to toyota's system. The hydrid cvt is totally different from the cvt transmission. Mazda's hydrids are nt close to the efficiency of the rav4
