2024 Tesla Model Y Performance Review | Fully Charged, but not 100% for the Philippines?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Face ripping acceleration is the first thing we had to test with this EV, the Tesla Model Y in its Performance trim. While it is the third best-selling car in 2022 and the best-selling EV, it can't be perfect, right? In the context of the Filipino car buyer, we test this electric crossover through the ups and downs and on the city streets of the country. Will it be everything it's cracked up to be? Is it worth it? Let's to through its quirks and find out whether or not it's worth its asking price of P4,500,000 for this top-spec variant.

Nice review brother. You’ve opened my eyes to Tesla’s limitations in the Philippines. While Tesla is great here in the US and until Tesla integrates their cars in the Philippines, it wouldn’t be practical really for Filipinos to use it. A lot of the features are really useful for the Philippines ie GPS, self driving, Philippine apps, supercharging network, service centers etc.. again until Tesla establishes their support in the country it won’t be used at its full potential. I wish you could add more context as to why that is and if government has to do something about it or if Tesla just refuse to provide to our beloved country.

The wipers can also be activated by pressing the button at the tip of the left stalk. This should also bring up the menu that’ll allow for wiper speed selection. Long pressing the same button also does a windshield wash (spray) and wipe. Good review overall!

I suspect when Tesla comes to the Philippines officially, we will have no issues with the apps, they sell Chinese-made Tesla's in the UK and other parts of Europe that have the correct apps for their country.

Agree. When Tesla officially markets their cars here, it will be configured for the PH market will all the niceties and standards that Philippine-spec cars sold here all have. It's just a matter of when. Also, Tesla absolutely has to populate their Supercharger network here to make it all work.

Caco, that is not an “infotainment screen” - that is actually a computer tablet. Once you’ve personalized the seat position, side mirrors, etc., in the settings, you won’t have to bother tapping onto the tablet while driving. Also, almost all the controls are accessible by voice command. Opening/Closing the frunk, trunk, charging port, etc., can now be controlled by your Apple Watch. Charging. Home charging is the main solution. You only really need Supercharging stations if you’re on long road trips. Like LA to SanFo/Vegas. It is a fun car to drive! Not going back to ICE.

Maybe if it was a different EV car but if you get a Tesla then I'm sure you'll change your mind. My question is , did you ever own a Tesla ( or any EV)? Because if you didn't own an EV then it's just your opinion without any comparison. I will never go back to an ICE/hybrid car ever.

Great review! It's nice that Tesla has reached the PH shores although via a 3rd-party company. One thing to note - there's a proper way to close the frunk and not the typical way of closing hoods of ICE cars. Tesla has an aluminum hood and would be bend out of shape if continued to be closed that way.

The charging ports are for an AC charger which will accept a level 1 and level 2 GB/T charger. The other one is a DC GB/T charging port. There are charging stations, specifically that of Shell where the attendants will not allow you to use your adapter, since they use a CCS2 for DC charging or a type 2 for level 2 charging. But still an excellent review. I was looking for a DC GB/T adapter but it costs around 1,300 USD in eBay. Guess a level 2, 22 KWH charger will do in malls., or the wall charger installed at home will be enough.

Hey Buddy that's a pretty good review. If possible down the road...update the comments about YOUR Tesla. Curious how it handles any flooding there. Example: Able to navigate with no noticeable issues with water height of 8 inches as an example; or you had a friend who purchased a Tesla and it is not functional anymore due to central control head unit not operable? or maybe like If you have to take the Tesla in for maintenance is there a dedicated Tesla service or certified shop there to work on it? Or any rebates or tax credits in the Philippines there as there was here in the United States? How about if the Tesla Breakdown and it has to be towed to a auto-shop, do you have a local transport that has the ability to put it on the truck bed so that ALL the wheels are off the ground? Never drove a Telsa..but I am curious about what peoples experiences are and not some generic Tesla commercial. But you hit it on the mark at 23:15 and so for you? Since you are one of the few that has a Tesla. Did YOU have a charging station or should I say besides a level 1 charger installed in your home for your Tesla? I see you drove it out in the country, have you driven your Tesla in a really urban and crowded environment like in the middle of Manila in the middle of the day? Again..just curious, what people encounter in a different country besides the USA. Thank you.

Love my ‘23 Y. Good review. Is it worth getting it in the Philippines NO, unless you just want to get a unique EV brand like a Tesla. City driving would be fine. But without that charging infrastructure you’ll be missing out a lot to which this car was designed for. The model difference between a standard and performance is physically cometic. You can pay for the boost update on the standard. The OTA software updates/upgrades are gold standard. However the flagships Plaid are a different ball game altogether. Let’s not forget they cost a lot have it service in an accident and insurance. Often times you’ll see a minor crash and they will deemed this totaled. They are built differently from ICE cars.

There are many Tesla tinkers in the web today that have reprogrammed the infotainment how they want it to be, albeit you cannot update it for future firmwares. Most people trashing in the comments are the ones not familiar with the brand / company. Compared to ones correcting this autodeal guy: wiper button, glove box, charger port, etc, are the ones who have used and love using Tesla

Problem with Philippines is that anything new is overpriced and heavily taxed to the point only super rich people can afford it. It just doesn’t make sense as minimum wage is what 600 peso per day but a Kenny Rodger’s burger costs 250 peso. Vs in the USA a burger still costs $5 but people make $20 an hour. In the USA tvs, ps5, gaming laptops and IPhones sell for 1/2 cost. So what’s happening? It’s hard enough that the wage is so low. But to over price everything seems unbelievable 😮

Caco voice command does a lot of things in this car like wipers on make it faster or slow, aircon on hi-lo, lights on, change radio station or music streaming to name a few. You should have shown everyone the lightshow.

wow so tiring, "ac turn 17 degerees celsius now turn 18 celsius no wait to hot turn it 16 degree, 19 , 20,". what no button for changing the radio do we have to memories radio station? not to mention that button for signal turn is annoying once you turn hard right and suddenly want to turn left it has a gap to reach to turn left or right but they option it with yolk steering to fix the problem. TBH its cool though but tesla is not the first to have this technology Lexus have these as well as BMW, Audi and even Chinese brands the only difference is that Tesla is looking like a gold cart inside and out.

@@linacanete2213 Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but in order to know the bad things or short comings of a car you should at least own or have driven the car for least a month. But when you rant, make fun, and hate something that you have not even own or driven makes you a STUPID IGNORANT fool linakamote2213. You’re making bad comments base on a one day review of the car. Listen linakamote2213 explain to me then how come the Model Y is the Best SELLING car in the world for 2023 that’s EV and ICE car.

watching from sac, ca bought my mylr last sept. Amazing and very practical crossover vehicle. But supercharger is everywhere in my area which makes it worth it. oh and 8 years battery and motor warranty. im at 15,000 miles and people say tesla tires wears out much quicker like around 25,000 miles or less depends on driving habits compared to ice vehicles around 50,000 miles. no change oils, no maintenance. no expensive gas just charge at $0.14 cents /kwh in off peak supercharger.
