    Is it fair to say the Cybertruck is more of a Silicon Valley software engineer's idea of what a pickup truck should be, and not a typical Mid-West farmer's idea of a pickup truck? 🙂

    I hate the fact thst the screen is the only input and output. I just got a new car and went down a trim level to get an analog speedometer. My car still has a nice screen and a digital fuel gauge, but the tach snd speedometer are old fashioned analog.

  • @NoName-ik2du

    @NoName-ik2du

    Ай бұрын

    Fun fact: The "analog" gauges in modern cars are fake. They're controlled by little electric motors that move the needles based on the input from the car's computer. Some modern cars even rotate the needles all the way up and then back down when you start it as a visual display/test. The days of speedometers being physically connected to the drivetrain are long gone.

    I genuinely really wish this was a reliable and durable vehicle. I love the styling and as a mechanic I feel like I would put up with its issues if it wasn't so fragile. I believe automotive styling peaked in the 80s and engineering peaked in the 90s. But this breaks the mold of the bland cars we see today and I'd love to see more that looks like it. Here's hoping they are able to work out the imperfections or another company can do the same thing better. Great review as always and the highlight of my day! 😁

    It is reliable. The only maintenance you will ever need is wiper fluid, cabin air filter, and tires. The panel gaps and build quality issues are notorious for every new model Tesla releases. Launch models X and Y had more issues. So if you wait a year or two, you can get a reliable, more feature rich, better build quality, more efficient battery CT.

    Good timing on this video as I saw my first Cybertruck out in the wild today. The design certainly gets attention. I have zero interest in this vehicle but I don't dislike anyone who decides it is right for them. I wonder when the tech will advance to the point where we don't need to access the touchscreen. It would be easier and safer to say commands like "windshield wipers on," "headlights on," "set cabin temperature to 72" or "lock phasers on target" than to have to dig through menus on a screen.

    Good video! I absolutely love the CyberTruck. I see them pretty much daily and have a buddy with one. I do wish they had put a driver's console. I drove a Model 3 as a rental and sorely missed the console. Not sure I'd get a CyberTruck over an F150 Lightning, as the Lightning is much more of a "real" truck. Also, Tesla is missing Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. I know the Tesla Fanbois will say you can load apps, but I find that clunky and less efficient. As for the seats, I wish Tesla used real leather, and not artificial seats.

    The Cybertruck is a perfect example of why you don't want a "futuristic" car from a sci-fi movie. It looks "futuristic" (odd) more often than not because there are design choices made in the "futuristic" car that are impractical and a nightmare to live with in reality. Stainless steel on a car never caught on apart from the DeLorean and this because it's a bitch to keep clean and looks like garbage dirty. The extreme PS1-style angles make the truck dangerously un-ergonomic. The "touch-screen is all the things" philosophy is going to date this thing hard in 10 years and leaves far too many key systems at the mercy of a cheaply made electronic device nobody is going to be able to fix in 15 years. All the electronic buttons that operate crucial parts such as the doors and the transmission (that is, forward and reverse) are already prone to failure and would be deadly in an emergency if inoperable. Grant it, some of these are general Tesla complaints, but it's not a great combination. That said, as you say, we wanted different and here's different. It's gonna be incredibly interesting how the Cybertruck is going to be viewed 30 years from now. Either "Elon's folly" or maybe some enterprising filmmaker can make this thing the hero car (in an ironic sense given the context) of an iconic movie a few years from now, making the Cybertruck beloved by a generation of people and solidifying its place as a classic. (Y'know, like the DeLorean)

    I appreciate this take. I like the car but I think it's simply too over priced and it should be able to do "truck stuff" much better then it actually ends up doing. It just seems like because it's so "hype-y" that itself might kill this car soon. I might be wrong though, maybe watch the next iteration be incredible

    I saw (reacted) to seeing one of these for the very first time yesterday, I hadn't a clue what it was and thought it was a home build wooden car. Needless to say I don't think I'll be in the market for one. I recall people having a similar reaction to the DMC which became iconic in "Back to the future" movies. I doubt this truck will ever have the great fortunes to become iconic.

    The interior, god, I've never seen anything so BLAND for a brand new vehicle. Horrible design. I can't help but laugh for the fact there are no gauges at all in front of the steering wheel and all you have is nothing but a big Ipad screen. One thing he forgot to say that because the Cybertruck's body is metal, just like 1980s and older classic cars, you will likely get hurt in a crash even if the truck itself seems fine and do some collateral damage onto whatever it hits.

    I was invited to the second step and gave Tesla another $1000. There’s something off though so let me know what you think: 1. I did the original preorder in June 2021. I figured I was somewhere between 150k-200k based on some articles I read at the time. The recent recalls where they are forced to publish figures suggest Tesla made some 12K trucks by July 2024. So, how did I get invited unless like 80-90% dropped out?! 2. I am looking on CarGurus now and the Cyberbeast, which is like 131k for the tag, is being sold in multiple states for 140k-143k which is a modest premium and is almost breakeven Does this sound like what was advertised? I think I have another 2-3 months before they call me for the final payment and delivery but this is starting to look like a major flop and I might have to walk away since cheaper to let go of the deposits than pick up a car which could be depreciating like the rest of the Teslas. Where can I see reliable information on how many cars they made and how many preorders still exist? Also, was considering renting it on Turo for like $350-400/day. Thoughts on the feasibility?
