    The bronze caps in the front (and back) are actually your recover points. Pop them off, screw in the eye bolt it comes with and get pulled out of all that fun mud. Great video!

    Yeah, Im used to recovery points being underneath the vehicle vs behind a cover. I could have sworn I watched another review where someone called them sensors as well, like for the active cruise control etc. But lessons to be learned for sure since it's quite a departure from our previous vehicles.

    I had a very rough start with my Crosstrek Wilderness due to incompetence with my dealership's service department. Sales process went great, but they did not get the accessories in on time. A week later, I dropped it off, and they installed the rear bumper cover guard in the completely wrong spot (which is 3M taped to a painted surface), there was vibrations/buzzing in the hatch - later finding out they did not put the seat back covers in correctly, and then I noticed the whole car was covered in tons of paint swirls - they ""washed"" it before installing the rear bumper cover and were extremely harsh in washing it - the roof was really bad. They had to for a week then after that to reorder and reinstall the bumper cover and had to send it to a detailer to try to get out as much as they can. Looks like it is 70-80% better in terms of swirls, but there is now a very tiny ding of the roof that is only noticeable from one angle and wax dried onto spots of the hood decal. I got most of the wax off the decal, but will be leaving good enough alone. It's amazing how much enthusiasm dealership screw-ups can take out of the excitement of getting a new vehicle I waited several months for. I was going to add the Subaru mud-flaps, but lost interest in touching this car any further for a while after the amount of time and frustration went into just having the two easiest accessories installed, reinstalled, and damage fixed from the screw up of the initial install.

    Im sorry that you had such a bad experience with the dealership! Our dealership was pretty good overall, though the detail department was a bit lack-luster on the cleanup, likely b/c we showed up to pick up the car a few hours early. We ordered accessories ahead of time, but the parts dept had a hard time finding everything we had ordered, but did end up finding everything. We didn't have them install the accessories as ours were mostly pet-related things which are easy to install ourselves. Hopefully your dealership can help you to repair the damage!

    Don't forget to set-up your 5 digit pin with the hidden button on the rear hatch. Its in the same area as the button to open the hatch. It will be towards the right side. The idea is, if you cant get into the car for whatever reason. You input the 5 digit pin and it will unlock the car. There is a video or two on how to set it up.

    I love that color, how do you like the dog door panels, did you install them yourselves and/or have you removed them? I ordered some too and wanting to use the service dept as little as possible so i was thinking about just putting them on myself.

  • @ADVENTURUSS

    @ADVENTURUSS

    8 ай бұрын

    We bought a few accessories for the pup... there's a bumper protector thing that simply velcros to the floor, and you fold it out when you want to use it... and then we bought the cargo area dog pad, which clips into the side loops near the rear hatch, loops around the rear headrests and also velcros to the seat backs... both of those things were installed in seconds. The door protectors were a little more tricky, but they just slide in between the rear window and the inner weather stripping seal. Took a couple tries to figure it out, but definitely something you can do on your own with a little patience.

    After watching seveal of these videos-- Im klinda TORN between the CROSSTREK Limited (and I'll add the tires and lift to turn it into a Wilderness with more stuff)... or the OUTBACK WILDERNESS (or even limited- and change wheeles etc. in it too)...

  • @ADVENTURUSS

    @ADVENTURUSS

    I completely understand where you're coming from with that. As a Jeep guy... I didn't see the point in getting a Rubicon if I knew I was going to make modifications down the road. As for the option between the CrossTrek and the Outback, I guess that'd depend on how much interior room you're looking for. The CrossTrek was my lady's decision (as it is her car), and she totally fell in love with it. Counter to that, good friends of mine that live in Colorado just got the Outback... and they feel the same haha!

    @@ADVENTURUSS Well, I like the OUTBACK for a little more power- and the look- but I really don't NEED that much room- it's just ME-- and a rare single passenger.. and I won't be hauling anything but groceries. So the Crosstrek also looks good- is fun to drive and good- but a tad low on power.. I'm also thinking about MAZDA CX-50...I just HATE the way they put 20" wheels on everything- which is sTUPID...

  • @ADVENTURUSS

    @@davidwayne9982 couldn’t agree with you more on that. We both have to remember that HP isn’t everything. Torque gets you there, horsepower keeps you there. So for off-road applications I’d much rather more torque. As for the 20” wheels … the first thing I looked for after I got the trail boss was 18” wheels… still haven’t bit that bullet! Ha!
