I can really relate. I’ve been reading non-fiction more deeply recently. For me this looks like giving dense/more academic non-fiction two read throughs. A first read to prime all the info and a second read where I go in and highlight and annotate the book. This means im gonna read less books im sure, but that’s fine. I struggle with how reading as a hobby gets framed as an exercise in productivity. I think we lose a lot when we’re too focused on a reading goal for the year.

I love a good reread! I always find more value and parts I didn’t notice when I re-read, and this even goes for fiction for me as well! ☺️ Hope your reading has been going well so far this year!

i have around 40 unread books and i am going to try to read them by the end of 2024. 40 should be okay because i read 50 in 2023

taking your time with books is best tho, and i think sometimes in todays world and the pacing of it, we lose sight of the fact that we should be having fun with what we're reading... maybe fun isn't the best word, but to be able to take in what the book is offering and i've realised that high goals only ruin my year so i lower my goal every year and tend to surpass it by august so any addition makes me happy hehe thank you for the video, i really enjoy your content :) my personal one is to read my actual physical tbr and not get swept by all the pretty books at the store or library

I agree, I love it when I can slow down and take my time with a book. I think constantly being busy, rushing to get work and tasks done impacts our ability to sit down and slowly read. It’s like my body still wants to go a mile a minute even when I no longer have to! I also lowered my reading goal so that I don’t feel that unnecessary pressure I put on myself. 😂 & I’m so glad you’re here! That means so much to me and I appreciate your comment and conversation 🥰

Hello Mary! My 2024 reading goals are similar to yours. If you want to know Polish literature, I would recommend you Olga Tokarczuk's novels. Her books have a very special atmosphere and a unique style. My favourite is Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. One of my plans is to re-read it in 2024. Happy new year!
