2024 polaris xpedition hunterworks belt testing/change with trail ride

I bought this belt to see how it compared to OEM. Only miles will tell but it also is supposed to lower RPM. The video below tells how.
You can buy from them directly or Amazon here is the link ⬇️

• HW 2024 Polaris RZR XP...
Update after a few 100 miles
I truly can’t tell a difference between the Oem and hunterworks belt. Both perform great so if it’s cheaper than Oem that’s a win. It may drop noise in cab by rpm shift on clutch but I’m not selling from that stand point. It’s so minimal if so that I couldn’t personally push that factor. I do not think that this is a better belt or worse than Oem as of now.

I rent out Polaris Rangers and Can Am Defenders and use Hunterworks Belts on all of them. They last and last and last. I had some serious clutching issues on my 2019 Ranger from the factory, and Todd helped me a ton over email on how to fix it. I love that company.

Great video as expected. I pick up northstar 5 monday. Gilomen has a $200 weight set for primary that they claim lowers sound and rpm however my dealer says they rev high for air and other accessories. Also there is some ring clamp near drive shaft that may hit if not set in right spot. Dealer said he would check mine

Congrats on the Xpedtion. I’ve been looking into clutch kits. But all that help with noise thus far seem to lower HP. I want the hp so that’s not my cup of tea. Gilomen seems likes the go to company for Polaris owners. Thank you for the info.

I’ve got about 300 miles on my XP5 now. The more I ride it the more I like it. I have been torn because of all the dumb little things that need addressing and the the low gearing. I will address the little things and the low gearing I’m getting used to. Most of our riding is in trails at lower speed so the rpm isn’t affecting us too much. It is noticeable when you jump on a road or gravel road. I am going to take steps into lowering the “tone” / sound. Will do some sound deadening. Maybe the belt. Maybe those two will help it enough. If not then will look into re clutching it. At 10-20 mph it is very quiet. But once you hit that 25-30mph/ 5500 rpm it is deafening. Heck 6000 rpm is better than the 5500 mark.

I agree. The road driving gets me literally after 15 minutes. I would say 90% of us are in the same boat. But I’ve read a blue million post on it and have yet to see anyone get greater than 5 dB after pulling the whole car apart and sound deadening. It’s discouraging. However, I really enjoy this machine.!

I've got the same ride just the 2 door, and I wanted to know if you have noticed any popping noise coming from your front end? I have narrowed it down to the steering rack and/or front a arms but just not sure why it is making this noise. It is a very smooth riding vehicle, but this front end noise/vibration has me concerned. Took it to my dealer and they said the one they have for sale on their lot is making the same noise but louder. I notice it mostly when first starting to drive and turning from lock to lock.

Happy Saturday to you and your family buddy. Hope all is well. Would you say that the Expedition is your favorite sxs to date? Also. Can you and your family able to have conversations in it do to the noise compared to your defender limiteds over the years? If I recall your expedition has 114 HP but can only have like 600 pounds in the bed and can only tow 2,000 pounds. But like my defender XT max can haul 1000pd in the bed and tow 2500pd. With that HP in yours you’d think that you could tow 4k pounds and like 2000 in the bed. I recently tested out a 2024 Can Am XMR 3-seater. It was a beast, but to be honest with you it had way too much lower end torque for me. That’s why there made for mudding. Lol. Great in-depth video like always. Have a blessed weekend.

Good evening buddy The xpedtion has created a sweet spot for my liking. Its suspension brings me back to a racier feeling. It’s far from perfect and not as easy to have conversation compared to a defender. I think it would tow more than a defender if needed. They just rate this from a different point of view. I really want to test a 1500xd and see what it’s about. I hope you as well are having a great/blessed weekend.

True. Both my brother and myself got the HD bumpers on our XP5s. He got the 6000# winch upgrade but I didn’t, so I had to buy the remote kit for the stock winch. It’s really simple to install, just a matter of changing out the winch controller under the hood.

@@americandream_89 So how did it go? The HW belt is quite thicker roughly .100" thicker in the thick part of the belt, that is the part where it matters. The cogs you mentioned have no power capacity. On this machine our belt is significantly more HD and grabs better due to the thickness. Interesting on the rpm, testing here showed a 200-300 rpm drop in shift rpm.

@@Hunterworks so far the belt has held up great. I’ve only got a few hundred miles on it. I can’t definitively say it’s better than OEM as it would take 2 machines running the same way over time for a true competitive test. But I can say if it’s cheaper or the same as OEM I can’t see any reason not to buy it. As for the noise the xpedition is so loud I can’t truly tell a difference between the two. We did a ton of slow riding at brimstone and I only felt it slip one time in high creeping. However like it showed, it did seem to lower rpm on initial testing. You seem to know your stuff and I wouldn’t have even considered anything over OEM without your knowledge being so depth related on belts. Thanks for reaching out.

@@americandream_89 If you had more seat time with the oe belt you would see it engages much better. It is essentially 17 and newer turbo rzr belt. Polaris uses the 16 turbo belt on the expedition, 24 rzr xp, 18 and newer rangers and rs1 because it is cheaper to make with it being thinner. Timken makes ours and lots of the oe belt, ours are at a higher standard than the oe and MBL makes the oe on this model, good belt just high and does not grip as well. Thanks for your comments btw!!
