2024 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X vs 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport | The Better Truck For $47,000?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

👋 Let's compare the all new 2024 Toyota Tacoma to the new 2024 Nissan Frontier. This 2024 Tacoma is a TRD Sport 4x4 with an MSRP around $47,000. This 2024 Nissan Frontier is the Pro 4X with a similar MSRP. For styling I think the Tacoma look better, but the Pro4X still looks very cool. Looks are subjective and each truck look modern. The interior of the Tacoma looks better with more contours and a nicer design with much better screen. However I like the Nissan Frontier use of materials a lot better. The think textured vinyls make the 2024 Frontier feel more rugged. The Toyota Tacoma for 2024 has a lot of basic plastic for the interior parts. The back seat space in the 2024 Nissan Frontier leaves a lot to be desired. The base of the seat is very short, and the back are very straight up. Unfortunately I'd say this has the most cramped back seats in this mid sized truck class. The 2024 Tacoma has a better back seat with much more room. Still not the best, but it's a lot more comfortable than the Nissan. Driving these two trucks is completely different. The 2024 Nissan Frontier still has a simple V6 and is paired to a more modern 9 speed automatic. Nice to see such a robust and reliable engine in the Nissan and it drive like a typical midsized truck. The new 2024 Tacoma only has 4 cylinder engines available. The turbo 4 in this TRD Sport is much more powerful and fun to drive then the V6 and you can get a hybrid version for even more power. So I do like the driving characteristics of the Tacoma a lot better. It's more fun to drive and the extra power is noticeable. But you can't argue with the reliability of the V6 and how simple that truck is mechanically. So time will have to tell if the turbo engine in the Tacoma can last for a few decades. Overall the Tacoma is abetter truck with more room, capabilities and a more fun driving experience. However keep in mind this Frontier was about fully loaded, while this Tacoma was more a middle trim. So there are even more features available on the Tacoma in higher trims. But these two trucks being very comparable at the same price, I'll take the Tacomas bigger bed spacer, powerful engine and better back seats over the plastic interior.

Let’s amend that a little, you can get one of the trd off roads for about 47 msrp, it just probably won’t have the rear locker or anything else you actually want lol. It is horrendous the direction Toyota is going in with what they’re offering and what they want us to pay in order to play. The Tacoma’s are starting to stack up on lots everywhere so I guess we’re all voting with our pocketbooks. I’ve seen maybe one out in the wild since it’s been on dealer lots, an my local dealer currently has 8-10 new Tacoma’s or more.

I drove both with the intent of buying one. The sticker on the 24 Pro4x Frontier was 49k basically every option minus the sports bar (I wanted a hard folding tonneau anyways). The 24 Toyota sport (I've owned a 17 Sport Taco and a 06 TRD tundra) with way less options came in at 48k. To get the Sport equally equipped the dealer would have had to order it or have it brought in from another dealer.. That said equally equipped 55k+. I bought the Frontier. for 46k. That said... First complaint by many is the hydraulic steering. My brother in Law agreed (he has electronic steering) we love it. I live through times when the only options were power, rack and pinion or nothing. More feel and control. At freeway speeds it's rock steady. I guess avoid if your arms are noodle size. Out of date tech. I got rear sonar, 360 cameras, heated steering wheel, remote start. Fender 400+ watt 10 speaker stereo that also rocks. Wireless Carplay and charging..... The head unit is 9 inches but has all the buttons for everything from Nav to cameras and is crystal clear. I didn't personally like the 14" tablet in the Taco. Sunroof. Anti-Gravity seats were way better than the Tacoma's IMO. I like the analog gauges along with the led screen. Tech is Tech I think the complaints are more about aesthetics. The 6 cylinder and 9 speed trainy were buttery smooth. I prefer the Frontier styling. The steps are dated they're not welded on. The steps are bolted and removable for off road. Look each to their opinions but the reviewer here was biased IMO.

We've had a new Frontier as a press car a few times. Obviously we can turn the wheel. But it has a much more weighted feel than every other truck in this segment. It's very noticeable. So we'll point it out. Tacoma is more capable tho for all work related tasks

  • @BrosFOURRSpeed

I think it's because most of the time you are not doing pedal to the floor to 60. Just driving around town half throttle up to the 45mph speed limit, thats where the Tacoma is for sure quicker. It just feels easier to get to speed and drive around town. So there is more usable power for most situations. 0-60 times don't really mean much. They don't actually show normal real world driving

I own a 2022 Frontier, and out of curiosity, I sat in a 2024 Tacoma back seat. The Tacoma felt much tighter to me all around. I'll take a slightly upright seatback for a more useable backseat area. I also do not like the look and feel of the materials inside, as well as the tonka truck styling inside and out. The Frontier is for someone that wants a truck, not a SUV with a bed. Love the ride, quietness, and yes, the steering. I dislike the over assisted feel of electric steering in a truck. Hopefully the future of this Taco 4cyl turbo won't be the same as the major issues happening to the Tundra.

Yeah they sure are giving customers what they want…smaller motor…way higher prices even for the very basic trucks…yep I can see exactly why they’re not selling the shit out of them. I mean it’s ridiculous that a trd off road with no leather, no big screen and maybe it has the rear locker is pushing 50k half the time when it wasn’t so long ago that you could get a top line Tacoma trd pro for maybe a little more then 50k. Make this make sense for me especially when they moved Tacoma production to Mexico cutting their labor cost down to 1/3 what it was. There’s a reason they’re not selling well an it’s not just interest rates or people waiting for the hybrid to be available.

My only complaint about this video is the fact that tail end of the video you did not mention more of the bigger engine in the Nissan frontier. As far as having more horsepower looks like that it’s gonna have more towing capacity. That’s the only good thing that I see on the whole video that Nissan has. I think Tacoma has the best record of longevity on the road dependability and the guy said at the end of the video before he did not mention anything about the Nissan engine is the trail riding capability of the Tacoma I think overall the Tacoma looks much better, except for like the guy said the plastics, several videos are all saying the same thing. The only thing Nissan has a bigger engine. However, the best thing that Toyota has a more dependable engine lol so I guess what I’m saying is, I’ll see you Nissan drivers on the side of the road when I passed you by.
