For forwards, my top-2 after Celebrini (with a real chance of being better, IMO) were Demidov and Catton. My overall personal favorite due to uncertainty with MHL and Demidovs 2 leg inuries etc, was actually Catton. I think Seattle hit a home run there. And as a Habs fan, I'm very happy with Demidov. As long as we didn't pick Lindstrom or Iginla, I was happy. Sennecke was my #3 forward choice.

Beckett Sennecke surprised me in a bad way as the reach of the first round. Demidov, Buium, and Chernyshov surprised me with how far they fell. As a Capitals fan, I was not happy with the Parascak pick, I probably would have preferred Solberg or Hage. And as a Capitals fan, the Silayev pick scared me. He's the perfect fit for New Jersey and a great value for them. I don't like what he's going to do to the Capitals forwards in the future. The Sennecke pick is probably the only one keeping the Capitals from having the reach of the first round. Not even Yakemchuk was as big of a reach as Parascak. I was relieved that the Capitals didn't pick Connolly or Eiserman. Those guys have offensive upside, but I am glad that the Capitals avoided those two personalities. I think that I value defensive ability more than most people do, and I have questions about their defensive ability. I wasn't surprised that they fell to the Capitals' pick, and I was quite worried that we would pick one of those two guys. My prediction was Jiricek, but he didn't make it to our pick.

Luchanko is going to be a great player. I do see first line upside playing on all situations.

Buium was the biggest surprises for me. I lost it when Mn traded up to get him. I really think he could be special. He was the second-youngest player in NCAA Division I hockey during his freshman year. -He became the first freshman defenseman to ever win NCHC Player of the Month. -He tied for the team lead with his brother, Shai, and ranked fourth in the NCAA with a +33 plus/minus rating-the highest ever by a Pioneer since the statistic first began being tracked in 2005-06. -He recorded the longest point streak of the season by a Denver player with a 12-game run (4g/17a) According to College Hockey News, it was the longest point streak by a freshman defenseman in the NCAA in more than 21 years. - Second All-Time Pts in a Single NCAA Season By Defenceman(leader was 20-21 years old at the time) -The HIGHEST SCORING NCAA Freshman D-Man In Modern History (NHL Prospects) -National College Champion.

Probably the 2nd best NCAA player last season behind Celebrini too. Just a fantastic CV already
