Yeh this was insane to watch in person.. and their emotions were harder to watch.. I’m a Florida and UCLA FAN but I 1000% respect OU’s gymnastics and they deserve to be in that final.. no one does cleaner gymnastics as a team than they do.

I was wondering about the beam as well! I thought for sure somebody would mention that maybe, if there was an instability, that was part of why Alabama had four falls. I’m surprised Alabama’s coach didn’t say something. Regarding John‘s commentary: it’s only very recently that he’s been obsessing about scores and almost relishing the drama. Used to be one of my favourites right up there with Bart Conner. Aly did remarkably well considering this is only what, her third ever commentating job? She did the season opener at LSU and I believe the meet Michigan at Oklahoma.

I'm still traumatized 6+ hours later. To go from the shock, awe, and excitement of likely having a new National champion to my favorite team promptly melting down and not being eligible for the Final was absolutely horrifying to witness.

The sooners, i am just devastated for them all, specially kat. She is littetaly a beam goddess. Her body lines are litteraly gift of god. Like ally said and im so glad shecsaid that. I have to say that any mistakes are just that mistakes it will NEVER TAKE AWAY the gorgeous, STUNNING gymnastics they have given us all year. You cant win them all but you can compete with grace, style and integrity everytime. And they did. They never knew how to come back from falls because they never fell before!!! In shock but i guess it is LSUs year

@@layray210 yes it absolutely is! And they really didn’t have any. Usually it happens at least once a season and I don’t remember them having any this year. I remember LSU and others having their bad meet and I really couldn’t believe their coach was messing with the beam during their warm up taking valuable time after vault. They had a good bar set and then a meltdown again on beam. Even their coach KJ got in on the ‘character building’.

So. I have a few things to say about these 4 Bama gymnasts. Starting with Makarri Doggette. A legacy she has formed, a team leader, and a role model to this team. Even with a torn achilles she still was rooting for everyone. Makarri is so sweet and is a very talented gymnast. Luisa Blanco. Gosh, her beam form is so pretty. And her All Around status overall, is one of the best in the country. She is a gorgeous gymnast, and will have a great future at the olympics for Colombia. Ella Burgess, her fun, personality that she shows on floor is amazing. Her personality is bubbly and fun. I love how she never quits smiling even after mistakes, she is smiling. Mati Waligora, great gymnast. Very beautiful, swift, bar swinger. I just love her floor routine and her personality. She is so determined. All of these women are amazing, and have done great things in the last few years of Alabama gymnastics. They surely will be missed as they pursue their future.

Utah scoring is always so suspicious to me, but to be fair they have really gorgeous presentation. But at the same time some scores are often times inflated.

OU have been leading by so much all season, they’ve barely made mistakes. Which means when mistakes happened, they melted down. They have had no practice at coming back or digging themselves out of a hole. The final is wide open and this has made it so much more exciting than assuming OU would just win by default.

Like, the coaches told them to open up a second earlier or something.... and just screwed up their normal technique? I mean, their three top vaulters all made the same mistake. Kind of uncanny. I just feel for them, it was unnatural.

It’s sad to see OU go down like that but you know what they say the bigger they are the harder they fall, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again this is FINALLY LSU’s year!!

This is not true. The vault she does (and not especially well hence her getting a 9.9375 for the best she can possibly do it) is a Podkopayeva, valued out of a 4.2 in the 2022 WAG elite COP. Several gymnasts, such as Johnson and Carey, perform a double twisting Yurchenko (or Baitova), valued out of a 5.0 in the same Code. As far as Level 10/NCAA goes, I believe a 10.0 vault is a 10.0 vault. They aren't ranked in terms of difficulty.

Actually, Jade Carey had the most difficult vault performed in the semifinals. Both Leeann and Jade had 10.0 start values but Jade's is technically more difficult and the commentators also stated this.

Leanne’s vault is not great. There’s no power, chest always down, no height. I can’t believe it scores that high honestly. Look at hers then Haleigh Bryant…. The amplitude is just not there

Yeah and then Oklahoma came up on beam and they pointed out that the beam was moving. They ripped up the mats and had to repair it. AFTER Bama was on beam and had all those falls. I don’t know too much about gymnastics, I just love watching, but isn’t it possible that the beam wobbling was what caused Alabama to have all those falls?

During OU's vault capitulation, one of the commentators is talking about their performance being 'heartbreaking' and lamenting an apparent inability to cope with the pressure. Well, this is OU...so shouldn't they be accustomed to this 'pressure' by now? All respect to the Sooner athletes, but Florida and Utah showed the importance of mentally ignoring what's going on around you (including the ranking/status of the opposition), and focusing on what you have to do in the moment.

OU I haven't seen a collapse like that since the Philadelphia Eagles!(I'm an eagles fan) Can I just say this year's postseason has had Olympic levels of nail-biting thrills?

@@atypicaltiffany But Utah, had a 49.6375 rotation so I didn't think much of it. I don't know what happened. Lilly Hudson led off with a 9.9 so I didn't think anything of it. But then, Alabama gets 4 falls. I really feel that if Alabama found something wrong during the rotation, they would've allowed a redo for the people that fell. But because OU found it, they didn’t give redos. In my opinion, BS.

The issue with vault for them was their own doing unfortunately as teams are responsible for setting and moving the apparatus for their own athletes throughout the meet

I'm actually shocked that I was wrong about Oklahoma would win this again, not hating on Oklahoma just wanted a different team to win. I feel like Florida might win this one as they came in 2nd twice & Utah came in 3rd twice & LSU appeared in the final after that Aly Raisman tie-breaker BS against Michigan last year, & it's Cal's first time in the championship but my thoughts Cal's will come in 4th since the other 3 teams are legendary.

Are we sure the vault was set to the right height for Oklahoma? Did someone sabotage the springboard? Just shocking each athlete was short in the same manner on their vault.

Finally how the mighty have fallen

So much to unpack. I don't think florida was like lights out. But I feel they were underscored minus ok and their falls... and Utah. They gave em it all but florida. I swear Anya stuck basically everything and was flawlessly 9.8s Oklahoma. All that talk that they were automatic. Serves the critics right. How dare they de value the other 3 teams in the field..

Ocla was always being overrated and the are not as good
