For me, I'd rather see the Spurs take Alex Sarr here. I don't really think Topic is an improvement over Jones because he can't shoot and doesn't play D. At a minimum, Sarr is somebody who can go against wemby every day in practice to accelerate his development.

You hit it spot on. When they are not on the floor together, they can rotate the center position. This would improve the defense and can get a pg in free agency or next years draft

You and your wingman, John, do not know what you are talking about. Topic is a much better player that Jones, who will be a life-time back-up point guard. If Jones were the long term solution, they would not be looking at Topic. The 18-year-old Topic will improve shooting and defense with the better coaching he will receive at San Antonio. Greg Popovich loves guys like Topic.

Hot take, the spurs would want to take sarr at the 1 or 2 spot. I know they like foreign fundamentals, but you draft the best player and build the team after with trades and development. sarr and wemby at the 4 and 5 would be insane. The only reason this is a hot take is because the free agency class this year 2024 is so weak for point guards, spurs likely going to have to draft a pg at the 1-5. Immanuel quickley, james harden, maybe dlo. but if i can predict the future, spurs draft sarr, and sign tyus jones in free agency.

If Spur get no.1 pick, they'll definitely choose Risacher. But If they also get raptor's pick at 7 how about trade for Magic's Isaac? Spur gets: Issac + 2024 magic's 1st round pick Magic gets: raptor's pick + Malaki + maybe two 2st round picks. This season Wemby is often defending two or more guys at same time, he needs some help. If Isaac joins us, we can play swishing defense on front court sooooo well. Plus, we can avoid Wemby losing stamina quickly.

If we plus playoff games and consider his oft-injured history, that's not a bad signal. We all know pop's also a health management master. If he joins us next season, he'll be monitored anytime for sure.

If OKC get Cody Williams it's over. Putting him on a young legit title contending team with your older brother. Plus he was better than Jalen at his age in college. Jalen didn't get drafted until his Junior year. Match made in heaven for Sam Presti. Raw Prospect but a ton of upside.

If the Spurs got the 1st pick, I think they’d go BPA, and not reach for a PG. They can get a serviceable point in free agency or stick with Tre Jones for another year. Also, with a twin towers setup, they can draft a better, younger wing, or even Dillingham, who I would normally pass on. They need help on defense when Wemby’s on the bench, so having Sarr makes sense to rotate

  • @sarahmccoy1941

WRONG ONCE AGAIN. The Spurs need a point guard. And Topic is the top point guard in this class. There are no “serviceable” (whatever that means) point guards available. When you need a point guard, a serviceable player is not going to do you a lot of good. Dillingham is too damned small and frail to survive in the physical NBA.

Brilliant picks. Especially like Portland's haul. Sarr would be great but mocking Tyler Smith at #14 is genuis. He fits Portland's needs. With our two seconds, they can pick Hunter Sallis and Scheierman, addressing their need at both front court length and shooting.

I love the idea of Cody Williams as a okc fan he’s top 3 in players I want okc draft. We need bigger wing players plus with a limited role I think he will do good since he would mainly just be ask to be a good defender and hit open shots which he can do and he won’t be required to create much kinda similar to what Cason Wallace was for us this year. I think at bare minimum he can become a great 3 and d player with some occasional shot creation ability

  • @sarahmccoy1941

Nikola Topic is obviously the player the San Antonio Spurs need. Outstanding pick, if they are lucky enough to get him. But why would they then use the #7 pick to take Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht? The Spurs already have a lot of guards and forwards on their team at present, who possess Knecht’s abilities. And most of them are younger than the 23-year-old Tennessee player. The Spurs should either pick someone else or trade the #7 pick away. Or maybe package that #7 pick with another future to maybe get another top five player. Donovan Clingan, Ron Holland, or even Tidjane Salaun would make better sense than Knecht.

DP! Bringin' the groceries! I love Cody Williams. I truly believe, if given the chance, the Williams boys will be amazing. Will be. You said it, Cody is raw. BUT, no matter who drafts him, Jalen is going to be working out with him this summer. His footwork will be better as will his shooting mechanics. If he is on the board, Presti has to take him. Genetics are real. That said, you know I'm big on Cody's Colorado teammate, Tristan da Silva. If we get Cody, is there a scenario you see that would get us both?

I really dont see the spurs drafring Topic especially at no 1. So far he is a non shooting point guard with injury issues. Very few non shooting point guards have been successful in modern NBA. Lol! If this happens i dont think Topic goes #1. Im not a Topic believer. I feel if San Antonio went #1 and if the order went like this i think it would go down like this.... Spurs: Stephon Castle Blazers: Alex Sarr Rockets: Sheppard Pistons: Tyler Smith Wizards: Nikola Topic Hornets: Tidjaune Soloan Spurs: Risacher Grizzlies: Donovan Clingan Jazz: Cody Williams Hawks: Matas Buzelis Bulls: Jakobe Walter Thunder: Yves Missi Kings: Dalton Knecht Blazers: Ron Holland This draft is just funky like Ron Holland can go as high as 3 and as low as 14 or just outside the lottery. Im out on Rob Dillingham as a prospect he just is too slippy when it comes to his game but i thought the same of Tyrese Maxey and he is a star so... what do i know. I would just want someone more smoove. Im a big Tyler Smith guy. Like everyone else is a big Holland guy but im a Tyler Smith guy. Just love his game. I feel Castle is a big hit or miss type prospect. Like some teams will have him at one and others will have him at the end of the lottery. In my opinion only 3 players are worthy of that #1 spot and that is Castle, Sarr, Risacher depending on who picks first. Now these names are not like of the years in the past when we had that big 3 in the top of the draft like Jabari Smith, Paolo Banchero, and Chet Holmgren. This draft is very much like the 2013 draft where you could see a guy shoot up the board depending on who picks #1. Some teams will fall in love with measureables others will fall for experience. I feel Castle is a pick the Spurs want as they have developed a big guard in the past like Dejounte Murray and they should view Castle in the same light. The wild cards to go 1st though depending on combine numbers is Tyler Smith and Ron Holland to me. Those two look like freaks but i think Smith is the bigger freak. Im telling you i got a feeling with him. But the only two players in this lottery that i feel are safe are the Uconn boys everyone else i feel they are just boom or awful busts.

As a diehard Spurs fan: If we get the 1st overall pick. We are going to draft Risacher no question about it. If the Toronto pick does convey, Topic will possibly drop because of his injury. So why draft Topic at 1 when he is easily the one who could fall, no way Risacher falls out of the top 5. Even if Topic isn't there at 7-10 there is Stephon Castle, Isaiah Collier, Jared McCain, even though i don't like him Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham.
