@jeremys6631 he's sold his portion of Hoonigan I think a year ago but not sure. It wasn't until recently he just accepted another position at some art company I forget the name. So, if he does show back up it'll just be a visit once in a blue moon.

Yep its what most people don't get... yeah it revs to 8 or 9k, but unless youre dumping the clutch or launch control up in the 3500rpm range going off idle is the slowest way. Especially when peak HP is at or near redline and the torque curve is no one home below 4000. FF weighs about 4200, about the same weight as my truck, but the power curve is WAY different @@longtailrally780

Dead on arrival. This vs that pulls views, but this isn't Hoonigan anymore. Also, why is the Ferrari waiting at the line and not using launch control? Tf the EV6 has a 0-60 of 3.2, runs 11.4-11.5 in the 1/4, the FF 0-60 is 3.4 and it runs low 11s. Not sure what's happening here. The kia was freight training it even up top, which it shouldn't do even per it's own testing. I feel like I'm watching a KIA commercial. I feel like they were sandbagging again.

A thousand feet is less than a quarter mile. And you're using manufacturer specs, which are often wrong and on different surfaces. The EV beating the Ferrarri to 1k feet makes perfect sense even with the numbers you posted, which are far from guaranteed to be accurate.

If you knew anything about the FF you’d know the AWD system is extremely weak and can break very easily. Launching it would be a terrible idea. 30k plus in damages if they break it

Watching them talk about the Kia was painful. The disdain for the electric car mixed with the requirement to talk good about it for the sponsor. Go back to the vids where people brought their own Tesla and got roasted by this chick. Edit: I’m so happy Zach kept it real and said “I’ll never vote for a Kia.” My man.

Nothing is wrong with the Kia, in my opinion. If you know the show, they hate on electric cars. But not this time when the electric car maker is their sponsor. When I said it was painful to watch I simply meant that you could see they didn’t want to talk good about it but were getting paid to.

Remember that EV’s are wheel hp. 12 year old Ferrari with AWD probably loses 20%. That puts it at 560whp to the Kia’s 560whp. And Kia is EV full power all the time. Ferrari has 200whp at 4K rpm’s. 300whp at 5k. There’s no way it’s not getting walked out of the hole. I wasn’t super fast but the lethargy of that car trying to get up and move is kinda painful to watch. Especially without launch contol working.

i daily a 2011 forte koup sx with the 2.4 thats "known for problems" 124k miles now still 0 issues with the engine yet my radio died my shocks blew tires were shit suspensions too stiff brakes near welded themselves once. but the engines good

@@Grimm-Gaming my E60 5 series has 310k miles on it, but on every video about germans and european cars Americans are the first to pipe up about how unreliable they are, so one persons good luck doesnt count for a whole lot :). FWIW Im in scotland, am a mechanic, had to drop a kia down to the dealer for ECU replacement and they had lots, perhaps about 10 wide and 2 deep worth of cars with the a/c pump dangling i.e. no engine all in warranty age. I have never seen the likes at any other dealership. I also, at the time of writing have more kia/hyundai on the books for major engine repair than any other brand. Usually BMW top my scoreboard followed closely by PSA and jaguar/landrover but kia-hyundai seem to be really stepping up their game :)

@@bstegmediaexplain why the Ferrari must be faster. They have about the same amount of HP at the wheels and one has full power all the time. When the FF launches from 3k rpm it has a full 150hp. It’s a big heavy car with no low end power and a super tall first gear. Launching is not its specialty.

I think it's more or less it the fact they went the MTV route and essentially have one show that's relatively quick and cheap to produce, that the audience also enjoys. TVT was a great addition to the content we were getting at the time. now we've been eating the same bowl of soup everyweek for 3 years and now it's a bit stale

You could clearly hear the Ferrari short shift bad on the last race. Plus it seemed like the driveline has a bad lag to it when launching. He seemed to do everything right but it just didn’t leave for a spilt second. I know some of those DCT type transmissions do have a bit of lag when trying to launch.

And high revving V12’s have absolutely no bottom end torque. Which doesn’t matter at all when you’re using this car for what it was designed for, not airstrip drag racing. 😂 it does have an aftermarket tune that came with the car that I know little about. How that affects things I have no idea.

Modern Hoonigans has to race modern equipment, and EV is part of that challenge.

Ferrari probably had a setting to prevent early shifting. Paddles shift usually has a safety to still shift at "safe" rpms. Would explain the "early" shift to 3rd

Well Hoonigan it’s been a slice.

What this episode has that I miss from episodes like 1 - 3 years ago was Garry and Georjah just having fun and vibing off each other while checking out the Kia. The one man interview on each car isn't nearly as fun to watch as 2 or 3 members of the group interviewing while cracking jokes etc. That's what originally got me hooked on this channel but it has been lacking for a while.

I do like seeing the potential of this car . Kia you can send me one for more testing 😂
