The new Hyundai KONA Electric impresses with a bolder design on a completely new platform and has grown significantly in all dimensions, but feels very comfortable in an urban environment. The compact SUV conveys a dynamic presence on the road with its fresh and elegant exterior design and offers a driver-oriented interior. In order to offer customers maximum living space, the new KONA Electric has grown by 150 mm to 4,355 mm in length. Compared to the previous model, the width has grown by 25 mm and the wheelbase by 60 mm.
The design of the new generation has reinterpreted the iconic character of its predecessor. The KONA Electric supports an active lifestyle for customers of all ages and generations. It also offers new technologies and comfort functions that enable a safe, connected and comfortable mobility experience. The innovations include two 12.3-inch panoramic displays, the digital vehicle key Digital Key 2.0, over-the-air updates (OTA) and the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with a new software platform including a new layout for the cockpit and navigation. Special EV functions such as the EV route planner and Level 2 semi-autonomous driving enable a relaxed journey without prior planning. Other comfort functions such as the head-up display with projection onto the windshield and the parking assistant with remote control round off the best-in-class equipment range.
Efficient electric drive with two power levels
As with the first generation, customers of the new Hyundai KONA Electric can choose between two power levels of the electric drive. Top-level standard equipment
The standard equipment of all KONA Electric models includes a navigation system with a 12.25-inch touchscreen, DAB+ radio with six speakers, smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Hyundai Connected Car Services including Bluelink, LiveService and Lifetime MapCare, over-the-air update capability, digital instrument display with 12.25-inch color display, Bluetooth hands-free system, 2-zone automatic climate control, two USB-C ports at the front and rear, and 17-inch alloy wheels. There are also a number of safety and assistance systems: emergency braking assistant 1.5 with vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane following and lane keeping assistant, adaptive cruise control, intelligent traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera, light sensor and daytime running lights, full LED headlights with reflector technology. High beam assistant, LED taillights, e-Call emergency call system, occupant alarm, start-up warning for the vehicle in front and camera-based attention assistant are also included as standard in all KONA Electric models ex works.
In addition, the KONA Electric is also available with a more powerful electric drive from the Trend package. Its 160 kW/218 hp complete the sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, and the top speed is 172 km/h. The 65.4 kW battery installed here enables ranges of between 514 km (WLTP combined with 17-inch wheels) and 683 km (WLTP City with 17-inch wheels). When charged at an 11 kW wallbox, this battery requires 6 hours and 25 minutes for a full charge. When DC-charging at an HPC fast-charging station, the new KONA Electric reaches a maximum of 102 kW and charges from 10 to 80 percent in just 41 minutes, which corresponds to a range of up to 162 km in just 15 minutes (for a 65.4 kWh battery combined with 17-inch wheels).
