@ilysaportax33 Had that been a REAL comedian, they probably would have made more jokes about Oppenheimer. I wish Seinfeld would host these awards. He has an instinct for finding humor in common, everyday activities, and annoyances. You don't have to single out a particular group or take sides in current issues to be relevant. We all laugh at ourselves from time to time. The meme machine is full of examples.

he roasted the "writers" when he either 1. wrote the jokes himself or 2. only recognized them as being bad when the audience thought they were. if he thought the jokes were so bad beforehand he wouldn't have said them

His agent. I'd love to be in the room when they tell him he tanked and all his upcoming engagements have been canceled. Is that the best he can do? YAWN. He's trying so hard to be edgy. When a comedian FAILS at making jokes about race, culture, or tragic historical references, they just come across as ignorant, insensitive, or racist.

I did not steal any land as relative of Irish immigrants. My ancestors came to the US so they could eat after fleeing the potato famine in their homeland. This is a very devicive comment but the host of the Globes usually takes no prisoners. Taylor Swift was a target as well. Ricky Gervais’ opening monologue will not be repeated because he took down Hollywood.
