New S650 GT owner. Posting this info in one spot for folks since there isn’t a ton out there. - Sales are down vs 2023. Dealers will sell it below MSRP. Mine has a 10R80 and was $40,500 out the door before taxes. You have the power in this market. Negotiate. - If you don’t have active exhaust, you only get single tips. The rear valence is different between the two and will affect after market options. - Remove the carbon traps. They won’t throw a code and you’ll free up decent power, bringing you close to the Dark Horse (power-wise) without spending the money. - You can open up the front grill ducts to let more into the ram air system if you’re ballsy enough to do it. Again, it won’t throw codes and gives you a few ponies. - I thought the car was heavier. It isn’t. The steering input and handling is improved, making the car more planted, which makes it feel heavier. If you’ve driven a BMW or something, it feels like that. - People say it’s slower. It feels slower because the car’s sensation of speed is less noticeable. It’s more controlled for the reasons mentioned above. Times are the same on the track apps. - It can’t be tuned… for now. Someone will figure it out. Be patient. Once these are tuned, 500 HP is the new norm - on top of the car handling well. - If you don’t get the premium, the screens will be split as shown here. There’s no difference other than aesthetic. - The S550’s felt a little more fun to drive because they’re less refined, but I’m old school. The S650 has genuine improvements; they just make it feel more like a sports car vs a muscle car. - The S650 car lacks some of the fun touches. Example: no toggle switches or speedometer that says “ground speed” alluding to the P-51. The glove box also doesn’t have a specific spot for the owners manual, which I liked. But it kinda makes up for it with the “analog” look alike gauge cluster options. There’s also a ton of customization options in color, drive modes, and being able to read through the owners manual on the dash (with demos) is cool. - The car has over the air DLC updates just like a game (hence the strict security measures for tuning). Example: this week I noticed they added the ‘67-‘68 gauges on top of the old fox body ones. - The pre-collision assist sensor goes in and out, depending on the day. It’s a known issue and will be covered by Ford if it must be replaced. I think an over the air update will fix it. -The favorites button is a joke on base models. It’s either the calm screen or auto hold (dumb) and is not programmable. - Ford assistant voice recognition is kinda cool to speak commands, but I never use it or Alexa. Hope this helps anyone reading it.

01 stang conv gt auto bought after talking about it for SEVEN years in 2022. My next one will be an 05 to 09 gt hard top with manual. I will save for that one. cant afford a new one and dont want to take payments. they look like so much fun I must say. I love mine and i am a GM buy because my first car was a Chevy. go figure.

@@subaruamazon financial responsibility is a priority, so good on you. I only got an S650 because someone totaled my ‘23 2 wks after I paid it off, so I had a 80% down payment from insurance. I’m paying the rest off asap. My brother has had an ‘01 GT for 20 yrs now. It’s a great car, but slow and bad on gas. 4.6 sound can’t be beat though 🤌. Advice: don’t get a 1st gen S197. Get a 2nd gen with coyote. Same price, much faster, and have better mpg. The 2011 5.0 will always be legendary to me. I’ve wanted a coyote since I was 18 and finally got one at 30.

@@MadManMoran break that down for me. You dont recommend a 05 to 09 v8? you recommend the 2010 to 2014 v8? my car is bone stock unmolested. not the fastest but plenty of power. I get 25 mpg. I think that is excellent for a v8. Oh, mad was on a ford lot in central NJ today. 47k for base v8 stick. conv auto was 68k Whaattt? ecoboost 35k. 53k for a nicer gt with auto and i guess a few more features like nicer wheels no? didnt see a dark horse. they had five to six stangs.

@@subaruamazon I 💯 recommend a 2011-2014 (the 2010’s still had the 4.6 in them) GT. It’s an entirely different car - in a good way. If you’re looking for good gas with the same power you have now, get a 3.7 V6. I drove a 2012 V6 for 12 years and routinely beat R/T’s and other old V8’s with 30+ MPG.

@@MadManMoran there is nothing wrong with the six. I am not into molested cars so they are great because people dont monkey with them so fast. a six with a stick I have read can be a good time. How do you like the newest one? 650 no? 47k for a base gt comes with a stick. maybe get it for 43 to 44 id say. not bad for a nice stang. how do u like the new dash? like two ipads no? what is the difference bet 550 and the 650? your thoughts?

@@bman99ss it’s a shame. Same thing with Chargers & Challengers. The S650 GT is the last V8 muscle car. 99% of cars depreciate, but these will be the 1% exception, provided they aren’t heavily molested. I bet they’ll appreciate more than 60’s-70’s muscle cars today because it’s the end of the ICE era.

I got the 2024 GT convertible for $7K under MSRP. Love the car, and going from a Mazda CX5 the handling feels incredible. Bought it off the showroom floor which I always like to do if possible. Why? Although people may have sat in it and played with the dials (which there are few of), the upside is it didn't sit out in the lot for months being rained/snowed upon. And freezing and unfreezing constantly.

I’ve had 31 Mustangs during my years of driving. My last one was a brand new S-550 GT Premium with the performance pack 1 and the 10 speed automatic. It was arguably the nicest Mustang I’ve ever owned and was quite fun even with simple bolt on parts. It wasn’t a practical daily driver though and I’ve got two other Mustangs that are play toys so I parted ways with it. The MSRP on my car was a hair under $50,000 and I got it new off the lot with a 6 year 100K bumper to bumper ESP warranty for $38,600 in 2019. I sold it back to the same dealership 3 years later with 28,000 miles on it for exactly the same price of $38,600. With the price premiums all the dealerships are looking for these days I’m thinking I’ve bought my last new car for sure, and maybe my last Mustang…

Nope, unless you’re an enthusiast, going to track it or be dumb and street race it. I prefer the S550 but hard to come by used. I may do the Ecoboost with some upgrades and keep it under 40k. If you’re willing to pay the additional 10k for the noise it makes, more power to you. Every driver is different and that’s what’s great about the Mustang. There’s a pony that’ll fit every driver….almost any driver anyway.
