I have a 2023 F450 Reg cab 2WD with camper pkg. It handles my 5500 lb slide in camper really well. Must order the camper pkg for Ford to certify slide in camper. My cargo capacity in bed is 6216 lbs. Mine is an XL trim level. 450 turns much better than 350 and the extra 2 inched width is a much more stable platform. I had a 2019 F350 XLT 4WD before. And the difference is very noticeable. I tow a 7000 lb trailer as well and with the camper and trailer the truck handles both with no strain at all. The 450 2WD rides very well empty which the 350 4WD did not. Just a few of my observations. 2nd 450 for me and like the 5th 350 over the past 20 years.

it’s actually not that bad like they make out to be i have a 22 f-450 single cab that i daily drive and it’s my work horse

I don’t even pull anything and I want it…great job on the presentation!

Own all 3 of the "big 3"....Ram 3500, GMC 3500, and Ford F550..... Not partial to either one.... But have to say when it comes to a dually bed.....Ford definitely gets first place for style/integration.

This actually great payload and tow rating for someone like myself when hauling 1-2 , maybe 3 pallets of roofing shingles to and from job sites. All while staying within civilian road limits.

I'm really interested to know why it recommends not to put a camper in it. Maybe the FX4 option? It's an 8' bed, right? Or maybe because the wheelbase is too short?

YOU WILL NOTICE THEY DID AWAY WITH ALL THE GREASE FITTINGS, ILL BET THOSE TIE ROD GREASE FITTINGS WERE ADDED, CAUSE EVERY NEW ONE IVE CHECKED OUT HAS NO FITTINGS AT ALL!!

Pretty straight forward answer is that it is not optioned for the Camper Package. Without that package on the build sheet Ford does not certify for slide in camper use.

We have this same truck not color but F450 reg cab XLT 4x4 purchased in 2020 for $52k so yep prices are flipping insane

Fifth wheel prep is not an option on the F450. It is standard equipment.

Only thing wrong with that truck is the ELECTRONIC SHIFT FOUR WHEEL DRIVE.

@robertsanchez That was pretty accurate in older SD Gens... New 23-24 gen has a greatly improved Eng Exhaust Brake. Some have expressed same as or slightly better than Ram.

My 2023 really surprised me. First truck with one, coming from a 2012. 45% brake is the max I have hit on a 7% grade, and it held a 16,000 lbs load at a set speed.

I’d put a KingStar truck camper on the bed.

Notice no vacuum line going to that right hub? Ford eliminated the unlocking hub on their right side in 2024. It’s a dummy hub plug that is always engaged. Do a story on it JB.

@jarrsong The dummy hub can be replaced, and add the vaccum line & hose. Helps prevent a shimmy if you install chamber adjust collars.

@@dougcjohn I actually bought two sets because my buddy also have a 24 with one plug. He ended up buying one ford hub for that side. So I do have another set. The Ford hubs just aren't that good and seize over time as well if not constantly worked. I do a ton of HEAVY hauling with a huge dump trailer so I wanted the ability to put my F450 in 4 low, but unlocked hubs.

The tire and loading information decal on the b pillar is damaged with a crease in it. Government regulated company sticker should of NOT left the plant like that. I hope that dealership caught that and reported and changed it

Payloads are just advertising gimmicks at this point.

I can say it's too much truck for me...just based on its GVWR. I don't have a CDL so with my 14,000# trailers, I'm limited to 12,000 for the truck. For me a gas 3/4 ton or older gas 1 ton are the right choices but that's why they make all different kinds...people have different needs

it makes no sense that a rig like that has to be 4×4. How many semi trucks that pull 80,000lbs have it? it is nothing but, owners egos saying yep its a 4×4.

most semi trucks are set up to run on the road, once you get then on a slight grade with wet grass you have real trouble, i'll stick with the 4x4 for such times.
