I’ve been interested in the 20XG since it came out but they had a lot of obvious price point choices at first and the unfortunate refrigerator placement. This year’s changes to the refrigerator, induction cooktop and the countertop have really improved it. I didn’t know about the outside griddle until your videos. I have a recumbent trike that I like to ride and would like to store inside so this is one of the few with a storage opening that is 30 inches tall and 33 inches wide and more and the bed can be moved to suit the cargo. Thanks for the information

Happy to provide it. I couldn't agree more on the interior layout and especially the fridge. I just don't know what they were thinking. We love the griddle and are now using it multiple times a day now that we are in good weather. 😎

Just found your channel and I've been catching up on your videos. We bought a 37' Winnebago Journey in 2000 and enjoyed it for three years (and 30k miles). I finally convinced the wife that it was too big for just the two of us. We sold the RV a few months ago. We just returned from a 7k cross-country trip in an SUV. When we got home, we both said that we missed the RV. So, we're looking again. I'm considering the Cross Trail or the Prism, both from Coachmen, and that's how I found your channel. Your videos are great and very insightful, but I think your "selfie" videos are "flipped". For example, in this video, the dinette appears to be on the passenger side of the coach. I thought I was seeing things or that there floorplan variations I didn't know about. Here's how you can "fix" this - if you want. Go to Settings Scroll down to Camera Turn off Mirror Front Camera

Thanks for the recommendation. I was not aware of that. You are correct, the dinette is on the drivers side. We just completed a 5,000 trip with a couple of hiccups, and that will be what the next video is about. Good luck on your search!

We really appreciate you taking the time to explain your buying process and the differences between 2023 and 2024. We recently rented a 2022 20xg and took it on a two-week, 2000-mile journey to Craters of the Moon, Grand Teton, and Yosemite National Park, and we do feel it is the rig for us. Some of the issues we had with the 2022 appear to have been rectified with the 2024, such as the refrigerator location, robustness of the solar/battery system, and other items. Keep up the good work... we love the channel. A couple of video suggestions from us would be an A/C robustness test with the solar/battery bank and an overall rundown of the changes brought to the rig in 2024.

Thanks for the great feedback. We were at Craters of the Moon last year and looking forward to getting back this summer. The AC is a great question, and as soon as we hit spring, we will test it out. I have to repeat the changes to the 2024, which were game-changing. Just used the outdoor griddle to make Philly cheese steak 😋. Soon, I will do a video on all our MODs. We have already done a lot.

We are getting very close to 6,000 miles. Amazing how quickly they can stack up. The Transit has been an amazing chassis for us. Comfortable, reliable, efficient, and, in my humble opinion, sharp looking.

This one is on the top of the list for us. We currently have an order in for an aeonrv but the buildout time is forever. This seems to check off a lot of boxes that aeonrv does and for 60-70k less.

Aerorv was not a serious consideration for us. We thought the look was too close to a moving truck. I also couldn't justify the price with the specs. Having never owned a Coachmen, I was concerned with build quality and service after the sale. So far (5,000 miles and almost 2 months living full time) we are a little on the astonished side. There are only a handful full of very minor issues. Literally nothing major and MHSRV has been very responsive. Drivability is exceptional. Far exceeded our 2020 Mercedes Sprinter (Tiffin Wayfarer) and 2022 Dodge Promaster (Thor Sequence). I drove one day for 12 hours, and it felt like nothing. Driving an A Class would wipe me out in 5 hours. Let me know if you have any questions.

I was talking with MHSRV as well for the cross trail 2023 model at the time. I have a refundable deposit in for the aeonrv so nothing is locked in just yet until a vin is assigned. This will be our first rv. Both this cross trail and aeon cross off alot of things on our “want list”. The 2024 model seemed to up the game a lot in regards go the frig, outside grill and with the newer transit model. I think the saving on the crosstrail makes the aeonrv look way to pricy. If we just add another 5k in aftermarket items, we are getting a lot more for the money. I want to be able to get offgrid for 3-5 days at a time before going back into a campsite. I’d either addition sold on roof or the plug in like you did on the crosstrail. Have you added starlink yet to roof?

Yesterday we purchased 2 more 200 watt panels to add the the 2 200 watt panels it came with. We hope ro install the in the next 2 days. Total cost for panels, baskets, cables and adapters was under $450 at the Quartzsite Big Tent show. This will being us to 1,100 watts when we plug in the ground panel. As far as staying out there longer. We have been able to go 6 days pretty easy with an extra 10 gallons of water. Never used the generator because we had sunny days.

@@ricktanner9817 with all the solar and alternators, what’s the point of carrying around all the weight of the generator?

  • @ricktanner9817

    @ricktanner9817

    6 ай бұрын

I have been questioning the very same logic, not to mention the additional $4,000 for that option. This week, however, we have been staying put so charging from the second alternator, and the weather has turned to wet and cloudy. For the first time, we have had to use the genny a couple of hours every other day. Those without a generator in this situation do have the option of idling the engine. Here is the difference in charge to the batteries that I have found. Running the generator pumps almost 75 amps per the charge controller. When driving, it shows about 55 amps. I am not sure if it is the same at idle, but I would imagine it's less. I also do not know which burns more gas, the generator, or the engine at idle. I truly don't know if it justifies the extra cost, weight, and space it takes up. For me, the jury is still out. Thanks for a great question.

Is there anyway to change the dinette to recliner chairs? With all the components we were wondering. We like to have our feet up but not really on a bed like surface. This is the only thing we would like changed. You have an awesome rig. It’s not a deal breaker. We will be looking seriously next fall. Really like these by Coachman. Thor and Jayco seem alittle cheaply made ( class c). Don’t know completely so don’t want to offend anyone who has one. Please tell me different if I’m wrong. I really am just learning about RVs but really like the smaller footprint this Coachman presents. Nice upgrades too 👍🏼

Coachmen does not offer recliners in this model. possibly because there is not slide. If recliner is open, you would not be able to walk past. All or the equipment under the dinette is a second challenge but not as difficult as the first. We had a Tiffin Wayfarer and replaced the very uncomfortable dinette with recliners. In that situation it was an option and it had a full body slide to addomidate. We love the smaller footprint and weight of this RV.

I’m trying to decide between the Winnebago Ekko, and the Coachman Cross Trail extreme 20XG. Did you look at the Ekko? If so, what was your thoughts between the two? Finally, what was the final price on the Coachman. I’m thinking they may be a better deal than the Ekko. Thank you.

We did consider the EKKO, but the layout would not work for us being full time. The price was also an issue. Once we saw the Cross Trail and then the new 2024's there was no going back.

Sorry, I did not answer your question on price. The MSRP on our unit was about $192,000. We have most of the options included 800 amps lithium, generator, Extreme pkg, cab paint, and the list goes on. Also, the delivery cost to Dallas was sizable. That said, MHSRV started the ball rolling with a 25% discount from the MSRP. Hope this helps.

For starters, based on your described plans I believe this would be perfect. We are 2 people living full time, and it can be a little tight. While it is high-tech, it is simple to operate and easy to drive. Add additional solar as we did and you are good to go. Are you anywhere near Alvarado TX? You can't go wrong calling Nolan with MHSRV.

Well, I am certainly not one of the rich men north of Richmond, but I can appreciate the sentiment here. These things have gotten crazy expensive 😳. Well over 100k is nothing to take lightly. Yes, there is a lot of expensive tech involved, and the Ford Transit chassis does not come discounted either. If we did not sell our home and live full time in this RV, I would not have purchased it. Just no way I could justify this much money for a weekender. You could say I am homeless, but I prefer houseless.
