I have a 2020 RST Duramax and love it! throughout the 3 years I've owned it ,I have an average of 8.6 L/100Km. Cheap to run but doesn't feel cheap to drive; very comfortable and powerful.

Stiffer seats isn’t a negative. It might be to you. But I prefer them. And over time they hold up better

I feel the same way. Soft seats are harder on the stitching, especially in a truck where you have to slide across the seat if it's fairly tall.
Very good review, agree with you I have had my 23 LT Duramax for 9 months now and after having had two 5.3's it's probably the best powertrain in a half ton truck. The torque and fuel economy are phenomenal as is the 10 speed transmission. I live in a rural area and I have often passed a slower car on a two lane road and was impressed with it's passing ability. I have the standard bed so it came with the floor shift which I now really like. Agree too the seats are a bit firm but not uncomfortable, but a friends F-150 has better seats. And yes when you see what is standard even on the LT a much better value then the Ford or Ram plus it's the only truck that offers a diesel.
I've put 85.000 miles in 18 months on my 1500 silverado and I REALLY appreciate the firm seats.
I’m curious to whether you’ll do reviews regarding the “dependability” of these vehicles, rather than the initial drive of them. Every vehicle works fine in the beginning, they’re supposed to. What the buyers want is how reliable are they? How long will the last, and how many issues will we have to deal with over time????🤔🤨🎯💯💯💯

Every vehicle is different. How you drive them, maintain them, etc. Too many variables. If you buy a vehicle in warranty at least you have some recourse. I wish more manufacturers would compete with longer warranties- Kia does a 10 year / 100k mile power train. That should be industry standard.

Pretty difficult to know that without seeing the actual data from manufacturers. Toyota certainly isn't releasing the engine failure rate for the new Tundra right now, but the list of people that own a 2022+ Tundra that have had at least one engine failure is growing by the day.
@karlschauff7989

@@Lq32332 Kia HAS to offer that kind of warranty after the issues they had with engines over the last 12 or 13 years. Dealers are a part of why the 3/36k and 5/60k warranties haven't changed for the most part. They make money selling you an extended warranty plan. Fewer people would consider paying for an extended warranty if they were covered for 10 years/100k.
It would be nice to include the window sticker in the description below. Also another tip how about information about any factory rebates .
3.0 Duramax diesel is the best motor. I drove over 560 miles TN - NC and still has over 200 miles to empty. Plenty of power for passing on the highway. If your not careful it will chirp the tires on take off.

Great review… curious how this compares to the 5.3 on the highway as far as passing power/speed?
I think the Chevy Duramax is a great value, and as you pointed out, is the only half ton available with a diesel these days. We recently traded our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel for a 2023 Ram Laramie 4x4 Hemi/Etorque. We got a great deal. Sticker was $72k plus; we purchased for $58k. The Ecodiesel was a great powerplant, but also the most expensive engine to maintain of any Ram, including the 2500 and 3500 Cummins Turbodiesels. We never had a problem with our engine, but so many owners suffered serious problems, forcing Stellantis to discontinue selling the Ecodiesel in the U.S. The other problem with diesels in these pickups is the price of diesel fuel compared to gasoline, and the fact that you have to add the cost of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) to every fill up. There will also be periodic Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration cycles to contend with, which will require you to drive for 15-20 minutes at highway speeds in order to clean the DPF.
@karlschauff7989

The torque and sound of the 3.0 Dmax more than makes up for the fact you have to feed it DEF. If you don't tow, $15 jugs of DEF go a long way.
They used to be a speed talker back in the late 70s or early 80s he used to do commercials. This guy reminds me of him
I LOVE that you do multiple reviews on similar vehicles~ greetings from Las Vegas!
Yeah I've been wanting me a silverado 1500 trail boss with a duramax in it. The fuel economy is just unbelievable for a diesel even though it's a 6 cylinder I like that motor hope gm doesn't give up on it just like ram gave up on the ecodiesel. That 3.0 duramax is a damn good engine.
So many reviews all stating how firm the seats are, I love the firmer seats, BUT mine are cloth and I can imagine the leather ones being harder, and so making them too hard.
Best truck ive ever owned. 30 miles per gallon. Ive never seen anything like that.
Some people like to complain about def, I have a 2024 trailboss and now have just under 5000 km and haven’t used more than two gallons yet. Def is cheap. I average 6-7L/100 km on highway driving at 100 kph and about 10L/100 km in city driving. Has burnt zero oil. Pulls our 33 ‘ travel trailer like a dream
The upper part of the Chevy grill is ok, it is the bottom part (below the DRL's) that I cannot get over. The Sierra has a way better looking front grill/bumper. I went at looked at Ram's with my father-in-law yesterday. EVERY SINGLE RAM on the lot had the 12" infotainment screen...even on V6 Bighorn models. Most of the Ram's were in the mid $60k's and some were in the $70k's. I only saw one truck under $60K, but it was a base Bighorn with a V6. My Sierra Elevation has the 5.3L V8, 20" wheels, X31, and MultiPro tailgate and the sticker was just over $60K. A comparable Ram was at least $5000 more. I like the outside of the Ram's better, especially the bigger 20" and 22" wheels.
Why is that steering wheel off on a 2024?

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 3.0L Duramax Diesel 10-Speed Automatic Z71 OFF-ROAD Package Crew Cab 4X4!
I just test drove one of these this past weekend and we had my daughter sit in the middle seat of the bench to check fitment. My biggest complaint is the lack of cup holders or storage with the seat being used. Aside from the little pocket above the infotainment, and a cup holder in the door pockets, there’s nothing else. Hopefully GM looks into resolving this in their next generation 1500. Talking about the next generation Silverado, any idea when the change is happening? Debating to get one of these now or wait for the next generation.

I wish the safety features weren't forced by law. Most due to people who can't drive. I wish the extrasweren'tt stuffed in there. I legit just want that power train in a truck. Not the extra 20k in features that are forced during manufacturing and there before the options. Im over trucks being 60k and more. This is still an LT. Not a hIgh country. Not a LTZ. Smh. It's all truck manufacturing.. it's insane.

The Laramie has much much nicer interior. Bigger cab. Better ride. Even cooled seats. This chevy looks like it has cloth.

Sometimes I think Chevy likes to underrate their towing capacities. The TFL channel used 21k pound trailer to test Chevy Ram and Ford diesel 1 tons. Ram and Ford have over 30k weight ratings, but somehow the Chevy still got the best handling and total time for the 8 mile Ike gauntlet mountain towing test? Perhaps they could be afraid of a lawsuit and post low numbers to avoid them
@jaysson1151

Your ram truck probably has the towing package with the 3.92 rear end and higher payload capacity. This particular truck does not. Remember, your payload is a major factor on how much you can tow. So if your truck has a 12,000 lb towing capacity and only a 1500 lb payload capacity. That mean’s your trailer’s tongue weight is gonna be 1200 lbs plus 300 lbs of payload (driver, passengers, stuff). Has nothing to do with pulling power. Besides, you can get the max towing package for the diesel, which upgrades to a 3.73 gear ratio in a 9.75” rear axle, bigger brakes, and thicker frame…all which bumps it to over 12k lbs. If you’re gonna be regularly towing over 10k lbs, I’d advise to jump into a 3/4 ton.
