Seems to be getting pretty decent mpg. I don't really care what any of mine get long as its not sitting at the dealership for weeks at a time.

15 city and 18 hwy is pretty good. I have a 21 GMC HD with the 6.6 gas and the 6l90, I get about 13.5 overall and my truck is 2wd.

I couldn’t tell a difference in fuel mileage either going from 91-93 here in Kentucky to 87. And my elevation is around 1100’ where I live and ranges from about 800’ to 2500’ where I typically go. With that said, my truck typically gets between 14-15 mpg driving to work. I feel like that would be what you’re considering in town. It’s a 30 mile round trip for me. I would say sort of in town but a little highway, rural for sure. But 14 miles in the morning exclusively on a 2 lane road, very curvy, a few small grades and speeds between 35-60 mph. On the way home it’s about 16 miles because I go a different way to keep phone signal (I talk to my parents on the way home) and it’s about half and half 2 lane same conditions (curvy, small grades) and 4 lane, still curvy and one pretty good grade, 6-7% for over a mile. So that’s my daily driving. Best I’ve ever got on a trip was 17.3 and that was nearly a 400 mile trip. Half of that 70 mph. Probably 20-25 miles roughly pure city and then the rest roads like my normal daily driving. That’s a 2022 Silverado 2500 crew cab LT Z71 with 20” wheels and of course the 6 speed. I’m just over 28,000 miles now too and about 780 engine hours.

I have a 2023 2500hd wt dabble cab longbed 6.6 6 sp transmission in South Florida the fuel I use is 87 octane e10 at 60 miles per hour at sea level with cruise control set truck gets 16.5 mpg in Miami traffic I get 9 to 11 mpg

Have a 2023. Hwy at 65 gets me around 18-19 mpg. Also found an auxiliary tank maker from FL and added 41 gal in the bed with a Carter pump for transferring to main tanks. Works perfectly

My 23 gasser with 6" lift and 35s averages 11mpg so pretty much spot on. Mine is also all highway miles.

I’ve got a 22, and I’m getting 12 in town, 16/17 hwy, 14 on highway hammering it. Then I get about 8 pulling my 7.5 x 18 enclosed steel trailer and 3 snowmobiles at 75 on highway

Damn I got a 2020 ram 2500 which gives me 10 city, can’t imagine what will bw the mpg while pulling a big trailer behind 6-7?? 😭

My New GM's 04,11,15, & 22 HD Gas ALL averaged 13.8 MPG combined with my average highway speed at close to 80 mph

id like to hear from folks with 120k plus miles on this engine ive seen ole 6.0 liters with 300k and they were worked hard... is there extra GM aprooved maintenance the keeps the injecters clean with the direct injected engine? i 100% belive these engines r great to 60k id like to see what happens after that once these have been in the hands of customers outside the lab

If your in colorado .your mileage will be better . When in Colorado my MPG was quite a bit better then in lower altitude Oklahoma

6.6 l has a high compression ratio. I'm surprised you don't see a benefit using the higher octane fuel. Maybe using the higher octane fuel over a longer duration is needed to allow the ECM to adjust and see a benefit?

I'm curiousas to what is your rear end ratio in that Chevy?

You have swayed me to go with a chevy for a gasser, seems like the smarter buy but man my heart still wants that 7.3 godzilla tremor package, which is gonna to win out I don't even know yet

I've said this before on other channels and will say it again. Wait until it hits the 2500 mile mark. I can't explain why this happens, I'm still thinking there is an ECU change at that point. But the gasser wakes up big time at that mark....try to make a mental note of that. Do a 0 to 60 right now. Then do one after it passes the 2500 mile mark....many on the forums agree with me.....they wake up BIG TIME at that point....would love to hear your feedback.

I’ll say my 23 definitely got better mileage as the miles went up. Once I hit about 5K it saw a bump. My 24 has been pretty poor so far, but to be fair it only has 1000 miles on it and I know it will get better with time. I do agree with you I think GM really holds these back till they get some miles/hours on them. First time I towed with the 24 felt like it was kind of doggy but others have mentioned they get “better” with time. We’ll see.

Why did GM delete the 12 volt plug on all trims LT and above ????

I watched another video of a new 2500 owner who claimed the sheet metal is very thin. Said he has a dent from something thrown from a lawnmower and also kicking dirt off shoes will dent the metal around the base of the door. I am not saying I believe that but What is your experience with it? Besides the rare oil burning claims it is really the only negative I have found on the GM HD trucks.

I can confirm the sheet metal on these things is weak. I had a calf back into the door of my 23 and it put a big crease in it. Guarantee that wouldn’t have happened with some of my older GM pickups. They have to lighten them up some way though considering the frame/driveline weights keep climbing.

Have you checked your oil lately? I’ve heard of some of the gassers using a quart of oil every thousand miles. That seems extreme. I drive a 2020 GMC Sierra Denali with the Duramax 6.6. 10 speed Allison. We may be selling the fifth wheel so the truck may go also. Might be looking for a gasser this time.

You mentioned early in the video that you had idled the truck for about an hour while at the gym. How do you accomplish that? My 2022 will only idle for about 15 minutes and than shuts off. I am speaking about being in "park" though.

I'd day I get to the gym about 30 minutes early, sometimes they let us in. Plus I do remote start when I wake up to go 15, then remote start it from the app in the gym before leaving. That's about an hour. Then throughout the day before and after work it gets idled....I did the same with the 7.3.

Everybody saying they’re seeing 15 miles a gallon in town are full of shit I have a 2024 loaded LTZ with the z71 3:73 gears. I’m lucky if I see 11 1/2 or 12 miles a gallon around town , and towing my Bass boat which is just a 21 foot ranger with a tandem axle trailer I think maybe weighs 3000 pounds trailer and boat I get 10 miles a gallon so I don’t know who on here can attest to what I’m saying, but there’s a lot of people on this page that are full of shit or don’t know how to check their fuel mileage and simply going off of what their computer says

I have a 2022 with the 6 speed and I average 15-16 mpg unloaded driving to work every day. 40 mile round trip , I would say 15 of those miles everyday are “intown , stop and go driving” the other 25 miles are speeds of 55-60 mph. I’ve checked many times at the pump and it is very close to what the computer says.

I just added a 24 ram 3500 diesel to the channel and to be honest, it didn't tow as well as the chevy gas. This truck, we did tons of towing with it over the summer and it never skipped a beat. The 24 ram did have the cummins power, but overall the truck didn't have as good as the chevy....the 6.6 chevy is in my opinion the best gasser out there. I've since got rid of the ram. I would hands down recommend the chevy or gmc gas over a new diesel. A third of the maintenence, diesel prices are up to a buck more a gallon here. The gm trucks ride better (seats are firmer) but still rides great, but the truck just feels nice. You'd and your passengers would also enjoy the huge crew cab space (and look at the front passenger foot room. Ram has a large bell housing intruding on the front passenger). A larger bed by almost a half a foot. If you felt diesel was still the way, the dmax Gen 2 L5P is exceptional. If you haven't head over to the channel and check out my other towing challenges.....I called this truck kong, it crushed 17k 5th wheel, up the Ike, wolf creek pass and out on the plains...3 separate tow series. I also have the tow with the ram. I'll never buy a new diesel again just because of the emissions and for what I to, the Gas does excellent. Hopefully that helps.

Just got a new 2024 HD 6.6 Gasser, so far a 1000 km's in and its been pretty great! Got it for a 44 ft Hauler. Should pull it with ease when she's broken in for towing.

Does this have that cylinder deactivation crap on the 6.6? I was thinking of getting this truck, but I don't want it if cylinders are deactivating. I don't give a rats ass about MPG. I'll just keep my 2014 Tundra that fires on all cylinders all the time. Great video!

How much weight were you towing? I'm in a 2500 rental and have put 9k miles on it since the end of March. 7-8mpg towing 13-15k; 18-19mpg w/ 3500# trailer & 21-22 empty (900# of gear in the bed.

@@MrAaron5627 Maryland. When I go into PA and WVA there's a lot of elevation change. Maryland and east not so much. Most I've pulled is 16.5k. not in elevation though. I normally pull between 10-13k.

@@freedomisntfree_44 A lot of people like to talk too much. I remember when the Duramax first came out. Those people said it's an "Isuzu" engine. End of the day the Duramax was a great engine, and the new "Allison" transmission will probably be a great trans.

It's not always about affording the fuel. If I drive 70k miles a year towing a trailer at 7mpg in a Ford(10k gal/yr) but 8mpg in a Chevy(8750 gal/yr im going to save $4375/yr in fuel at $3.50/gallon. So, if I have 5 trucks in my fleet, that's $21,875/yr difference in fuel costs... Just saying.

@@MrAaron5627 1mpg difference is really splitting hairs. There are so many factors that play into MPG. You would have to take different trucks down the same road at the same time to really compare them. Even one day difference could change wind, temp and traffic.

@mossman381 a small fleet of 5 trucks that do 350k fleet miles a year... 1MPG can cost you or save you money. Having a fleet of 100 trucks that do over 1M fleet miles a year... 1MPG can get a fleet manager's bonus a boost or get it taken away completely. 1MPG is splitting hairs if you or your fleet drive less than 70-100k miles/yr. Also, the factors you mention are legitimate. I used to use a weather app that gave me surface wind speed and direction whenever I drove over the road.
