2024 Canyon Lux Trail Gets a Total Redesign! Is it Better Than Ever?

Ғылым және технология

Canyon has launched its second generation Lux Trail, a longer travel and burlier take on its Lux XC World Cup race bike for that downcountry riding where you want low weight and efficient pedalling but good geometry, tyres and suspension for tackling rough descents. The new bike has some good changes but some interesting details as well and I took the new bike for a first ride around the Forest of Dean to see what it’s all about.

    I was waiting for this modernized model, the Lux Trail CF 9 with electronic AXS shifting and i found that the new one is 1 kg heavier than the previous generation. I can only hope that the weight listed on the Canyon website is possible with the contents inside the frame included. As mentioned in the review, it is a universal bike for occasional weekend XC racers.

    I like clever storage options and finally, threaded bb, wonder if we should expect that in Road models too.

    The two CFR models get the handlebar/stem as shown in video. The other CF models get standard style.

    All good except for the stem/handlebar combo. That will be a headache to service unless you can mod it with standard options.

    Wonder how this compares to a Trek Supercaliper or Orbea Oiz M. The base model CF on Canyons website doesn’t have the one piece handlebar/stem. I’ve changed those on every bike I’ve owned.

    Last year, you made a video about the Scott Spark RC, and said it was so good that you wanted to buy it. I have reserved a Spark RC WC, but have started getting second thoughts. If you would compare last years Spark RC to this, even though you haven't got many hours on it, which one would you choose?

    Good question. I would be interested because i am looking at both as an ex-XC Racer who loves light good climbing bikes that can also take on downhills fairly well.

    I feel like canyon is making a big mistake with these handlebars. At least let us choose stem length and bar width before buying. Also it would be so awesome to have accessories like the aero bars compatible with all the bikes, really silly to just put them on the grail. This is the same for road and mtb

    I have a Scott spark RC Pro 2022 and have just refurbished it with new cables and headset bearings. A couple of idiosyncrasies but really the only pain (but easy to do) is rebleeding the rear brake. If you take off the dropper lever the remote passes through the top bearing if you do not want to disconnect the rear shock cable.

    Has the same problem as all Canyon mountain bikes. Far too long seat tubes. I think I'm in saying the small has a 415mm seat tube. Which long as a large for many brands. My 2018 Blur medium has 410mm and my Tallboy 4 medium has 405 mm. I just could ride the Canyon with even a 125 mm dropper near mind a 150 mm dropper.

  • @borthwey

    @borthwey

    8 ай бұрын

    Strange that there are bikes whose seat tubes are even shorter than this. Seat tubes were reduced by 50mm or so for this last model. I have a 2020 Rallon in XL that has a 483 mm seat tube, and I use a 210mm dropper with it that leaves me 10mm to spare. The 480mm reach of this bike in L matches the 485 of the XL Rallon, and it has a 450mm seat tube, which with the same brand of dropper, would leave me with a whopping 103mm of exposed outer tube for a 150mm dropper. So it seems way too short to me.

    Looks complicated. The handlebar looks awful. I’m just not into all this tech. My 10 year old mtn bike still climbs and tackles trail in comfort. Too expensive. I do love that they the bb is threaded. My Canyon Endurace has pf which annoys me greatly.
