Great teamwork. Their years of playing together is apparent. But if there's an MVP it's gotta be that SL3. 3's don't typically exhibit this kind of discipline, composure, and skill. Generally speaking, 3's are still grappling with the basics. Things like grip/ holding the stick, aiming, bridging, etc. Furthermore, a regimented pre-shot routine is highly unusual for a "3." As is his good patterns, and shot execution. Stop, draw, follow, hard, soft, etc., whenever most apt. Through the first couple of racks you almost couldn't tell who the 7 was, no exaggeration. His composure was excellent, as well. 3's aren't typically this composed during league play, let alone the Finals of the National Championship. Under pressure they are guaranteed to experience an array of breakdowns. This, in itself, was impressive. Yes, tension was apparent, particularly near the end, but you see the same with professionals. Overall, he demonstrated knowledge, skill and mental resilience that take years to amass. Lastly, in processing my decision for MVP I had to ask myself one simple question; "Which scenario is more likely to win?" "This 7 with ANY other 3, or this 3 with ANY other 7?" I believe the answer should be obvious to anyone that's been around pool. Take care.
