Question about rowing. If three people were to row a boat in crazy waves, does it matter if one person is rowing or two individuals with a paddle each? Where would the rower(s) be in the boat? It's for a drawing. I want to be realistic when it comes to boating on a crazy lake.

Boats with three people are not too common. The coxed pair (two people with one oar each, and another one person guiding/steering them) was contested at the World level until a few years ago. Nowadays, you are much more likely to find four person boats or two person boats. There are variations of both these boats where each person has two oars (one in each hand), or each person has one oar. I hope this helps!

@@worldrowingofficial well, I'll still need a little clarification. But fortunately, my comic is just a cartoon, so boating logic probably shouldn't be that big a deal. So let's write it in stone that it will be three individuals. They're gonna be on crazy waves and end up on an island. Might mention how their boat sprung a leak. What woudl you recommend? One guy rowing with two paddles, or two guys rowing, or something else? As long as its three guys, thats basically all that matters.

@@jakebastian6726Usually in an 8 person boat if we are rowing in intense waves we will have 2 rowers “set” or balance the boat by not rowing with their oars flat on the water while the other 6 continue to row. If you’re having 3 people in a boat i would logically say maybe 2 of them rowing and one sitting stagnant as to balance the boat.
