They definitely are measuring to a different length or setting up the signs to a different spot. Many made it over the 500ft and 600ft line, and came up 20-30ft shorter. It’s annoying for us, but at least they did it consistently.

If you look at Sai Anandas first throws 4:45 especially you can see that throw land behind the 400 board You can eyeball distances by using disc width, that is not 14 feet from the 400 line if that line is accurate You can see the guy range using the rangefinder at 5:52. He is using pretty closely the same spot they throw from, so the most likely and simplest explanation is that the rangefinder isn't calibrated and it's off by like 10 feet for everyone

Wiggins is an incredible distance thrower and would have the record no matter what. But I believe, like records in track and field, the record should not be wind aided. Ten miles per hour or so maximum. I think the less wind, the less advantage from throw to throw. It would be impractical to eliminate air currents completely. I’m sure there are different perspectives on this-would absolutely want to hear them :)

All the rangefinder readings were consistently shorter than the marked boards. So I'm guessing the boards were marked wrong or from a different spot than they ended up measuring from. Could of course be the rangefinder was giving short readings for some reason. But either way, from what we could see it was consistent so yeah, I think we should trust the results at least. Waiting for Disc Golf to grow big enough so they can hold distance competitions in a 1 mile long indoor facility with no wind. Then at least we'll have a fair competition to see who actually throws the furthest.

Same rules as track and field high jump.

And that day he threw several over 200m - (656ft). I couldn't even throw them half way back! How fast was that tail wind for 1108'

I don't agree with the David Wiggins 1100 ft. record. What's with the 120mph tail wind?

Well if you're going to do a record for the furthest a human has thrown anything on flat ground, you need the conditions to be as close to perfect as possible. Make no mistake Wiggins is, and has been, the furthest thrower in the world for a ridiculous amount of time, if he were put up against anyone else in any wind condition. AB is really the first guy who is starting to really compete with him in terms of max potential distance. But even AB says Wiggins still throws further than him.

Even jerm makes a couple remarks as to how he can't believe how far off they thought they were throwing vs what they thought

I love watching this. I don't understand, though, why disc athletes don't lift weights. Muscles help in athletic movements.

Need multiple range finders for this to work better

No, they need to get rid of the rangefinders completely. They were able to measure throws accurately down to centimeters already in 1896 olympics. This was embarrasing.

@@DiscGolfGallery71 how did they do that back then? How much would it cost and how much time? Would this event lose its sponsor which appeared to be a range finder…..

@@PC8905 It would be more time consuming and difficult to do it with 300 feet open roll measurement tape. They are not going to get professional expensive laser measuring system either. Because the soft spot for sport sponsorship is 300 dollar/ euro electronic gadgets, then in distance competitions we are stuck with 1 feet accuracy, which is actually 20-40 feet depending on the distance. I understand these people need to make a living and I will no longer suggest professional measuring systems.

Something is really not right here, you can clearly see discs pass 400,500 or 600 marks but the result is still under that.

We had pictures of each disc they were throwing. We took pictures in a light box of each disc and instructed Jomez to feature the disc prior to each throw. Jomez decided not to include this in the video.
