Mikko's race run from Trento 2023 with the V8 Toyota Starlet. This was the first time in Trento-Bondone with the Radical Hayabusa based V8 engine. In the car stll the #2 2,6l RPA version of the engine. KP60 getting seriously fast. Front brakes still an issue even with the improved active cooling (two fans each side blowing straight to brakes) and also the oil and coolant temperatures were a bit on the high side. So did not push the car 100%, but tried to find a smooth flow and not stress the car too much. Must be happy with the result. Car would have had much more already, driver needs stronger arms or power steering.
First in FIA PF2 and 2nd overall in Category 1 behind Dan Michl's Lotus and overall 31st fastest car of the weekend including all the prototypes and serious factory built race cars is not bad for an old Toyota.
Also had a close call on training 1 with a gentle touch on the guardrail, there is a clip from the accident in the video. Unfortunately we had too much to fix and skipped 2nd training run. This was our 4th time in Trento and it is clear that there are still many places in the 17.3km course that could be driven much faster. Potential is there!
Trento was 2nd race of the FIA European Hillclimb CUP.

Mikon 2023 Trento-Bondone kisaveto. Eka kerta Trentossa uudella Radicalin Hayabusa perustaisella V8 moottorilla. Autossa vielä ns. #2 moottori paikoillaan (2.6l RPA versio vakio kansilla ja nokilla jne.).
Etujarrut vieläkin suurin ongelma vaikka lisättiin sähköpuhaltimet etujarrujen jäähdytykseen. Jarrut on vaan liian pienet. Myös moottorin lämmöt öljy, sekä vesi oli aavistuksen yläkantissa. Ei siis tullut hyökättyä ihan 100% tuossa vedossa, mutta tulos oli silti yllättävän hyvä ja täytyy olla tyytyväinen aikaan varsinkin. Autossa on potentiaalia paljon parempaan aikaan nyt vaan kuskin täytyy joko treenata tai lisätä tehostin, koska kädet oli aivan loppu tämän vedon jälkeen.
Videolla myös kaidekosketus ekassa harjoitusvedossa minkä takia jäi toinen harjoitus ajamatta. Ei tuntunut yhtä kovalta kosketukselta mitä videolta näkee. Rengas ja vanne antaa melko lailla periksi. Onneksi ei rikkoontunut mitään sen enempää.
Tämä oli meidän neljäs kerta Trentossa ja ei voi vieläkään muistaa millään koko 17.3km pitkää rataa.
Trento oli FIA Euroopan mestaruus cupin toinen osakilpailu.

Mikko's Rennlauf von Trento 2023 mit dem V8 Toyota Starlet. Dies war das erste Mal in Trento-Bondone mit dem Radical Hayabusa basierten V8 Motor. Im Auto befindet sich noch die #2 2,6l RPA Version des Motors. Der KP60 wird richtig schnell. Die vorderen Bremsen sind immer noch ein Problem, selbst mit der verbesserten aktiven Kühlung (zwei Lüfter auf jeder Seite, die direkt auf die Bremsen blasen) und auch die Öl- und Kühlmitteltemperaturen waren etwas hoch. Also habe ich das Auto nicht zu 100% gefahren sondern versucht, einen gleichmäßigen Fluss zu finden und das Auto nicht zu sehr zu belasten. Muss mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden sein. Das Auto hätte schon viel mehr drauf gehabt, der Fahrer braucht stärkere Arme oder eine Servolenkung.
Platz 1 in der FIA PF2 und Platz 2 in der Kategorie 1 hinter dem Lotus von Dan Michl und Platz 31 in der Gesamtwertung des Wochenendes, einschließlich aller Prototypen und seriösen Werksrennwagen, ist nicht schlecht für einen alten Toyota.
Wir hatten im Training 1 auch einen Unfall mit einer leichten Berührung der Leitplanke, von dem es einen Clip im Video gibt. Leider hatten wir zu viel zu reparieren und haben den 2. Trainingslauf ausgelassen. Dies war unser 4. Mal in Trento und es ist klar, dass es noch viele Stellen auf der 17,3 km langen Strecke gibt, die viel schneller gefahren werden könnten. Das Potenzial ist da!

Hi Mikko, great race with the new engine and well done video. You can see that the Starlet still has a lot of potential. But you did it just right and approached it carefully. Hope to see you at a race this season.

最初改用V8時,經常在高轉出彎時甩尾,不時要作出較大修正,效果不太理想。 今次片中明顯有改良,應該花上不小心機調校克服👍👍

Loved the video and watching the starled run again. Was anything broken or bent from that crash?

I removed the drivers side rear hub and checked and tightened everything. Only brake disc mounting bolts were loose, but could be that they had been. Right side they were not so hard to say. Also had to change wheel speed sensor as it had touched the trigger wheel and had some material removed from the tip.

Great build but 4AGE was an optimum set up. Hope you can solve issues and perform better than the 4AGE engine
