2023 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro - MPG Test | Highway Efficiency Test at 70 MPH
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
If you need to regularly move six people, tow several tons, and go off road, you've probably just recognized that you're not going to get fantastic fuel economy. But the 2023 Toyota Sequoia actually does okay given its capability!

Charlie, Thanks for the practical reminders about the effects of roof racks, tires with heavy tread and tow mirrors. With the prices at which Sequoias sell, there is no excuse not to include extending thigh supports.
Looks good in red
hopefully in 10 years, I can see 200k + Sequoia/Tundra without major repair and less rattling. Only then am I willing to give up my 2006 Sequoia that is currently at 300k.

Its a turbo with a hybrid v6 so i really doubt it will last 200K without major repairs. Sad

@@PonyFoot123 that is why I said 10 years and 200k miles. If it was 4.7 or 5.7 then I'll probably say 15-20 years and 300k - 400k miles.

@@PonyFoot123 If it's turbo it doesn't mean it will break. There are a lot of NA unreliable engines. This engine was also used in Dakar )))
Waiting on the mileage test for a Sportage PHEV with EV range depleted! Also, do you think Toyota's new infotainment system is up to par with Kia/Hyundai?
the 5.7 was an absolute binge drinker but have to say this hybrid twin turbo is not as much of an improvement as you'd think. Makes you wonder if they'd have tinkered with the V8 a bit with the 10 speed auto they maybe could have been close to this.

Wet conditions, TRD pro with heavier less efficient tires. You're bound to lose a chunk off your economy there. I saw some guys test the Tundra with both engines. He was able to get 25MPG or 9.5L/100km. Which is pretty good. Very good actually. I suspect the weather and tires effected this quite a bit. Also American highways are pretty fast I think our top speed here in Canada is 60MPH or 100kmph. So that effects it too obviously.
I hope they start making Camry and Corolla with this kind of actual transmissions.
Hi handsome, great channel and topics.
I'm only getting 16.7 mpg and getting like 18 gallons in the tank. Why?
May be one day the autopilot will be able to launch the car horn automatically when needed..
from what I understand, it runs on hybrid mode and turns off the gas engine at city speeds, is that true?
@DailyMotor

Ehhh, it can if you're super easy on the throttle, but it needs the engine for normal driving.

Not on the Sequoia or Tundra, here the hybrid system is designed for more power unlike the one on the new Sienna, there it is designed for fuel economy just like on the Prius

@jcdriver8500

And yes, I’m low speeds the Prius and all the others with the same hybrid system uses the electric motor most of the time, that’s why on the city they give you such a good miles per gallon, also u almost never have to change brake pads on those cars, they use the regeneration system on the wheels to slow down the vehicle
I feel Toyota needs to accurately report the MPH. i wonder if they do it so there cars give the impression of high mileage.
Why is it so loud?

Off road tires, roof rack. Also these 3D binaural mics are extra sensitive.
That’s pretty bad for a hybrid. Im curious what the Expedition Timberline or Yukon AT4 would do in the real world.

Toyota has been pretty clear that this hybrid system was not for mpg. Mike Sweers said if the powers that be won't let them have v8s or diesels in the US anymore then they wanted Diesel torque.

I have a 2015 Tahoe LTZ. Just did a trip from NW Ohio to Emerald Isle, NC with wife, 2 kids and fully loaded hitch cargo carrier. Round trip is 1620 miles over various highways with varying speeds and through the mountains of WV, VA and part of NC. I run 10+ mph over the speed limit at all times and averaged 19.3 for the trip.

The diesel 4WD Tahoe is rated for 20/26 and people are reporting better than that.
If you lowered it to about 60 it probably would been more like 21 and mpg which is okay for a massive suv

If you asked anyone, they would have preferred a new V8 platform with 16/21/19 mpg with no hybrid and turbo.
@Baebon6259

or a 5.7L with an updated transmission. That alone can possibly gain 2-3 MPGs
@healer81
Жыл бұрын
@Anh Nguyen they had two transmissions on that engine and it did not make a difference. That engine is so reliable because it's over engineered and purposely underpowered, so it doesn't wear out. I don't think anyone can produce another engine as reliable as the old one. The physics of a smaller engine and a turbo doesn't allow the engine to last 1 million miles like their V8 did.
