2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Review: Is a reputation for reliability and go-anywhere capability enough?

If you need the capability to go anywhere on the globe, and you want to get there without worrying about reliability issues, chances are you're choosing a Toyota Land Cruiser. You're also in quite the minority. For the rest of us, that high level of ability really isn't needed. So, is the Land Cruiser overkill? Is it too old school? Or does it still have a place in modern life? Watch our Toyota Land Cruiser review to find out.

Probably the best suv I ever had. Much much better than range rover, merc g class & bmw x7.

I previously owned a Hilux, it never failed an MOT and had 150k miles on it, I now own a SWB Landcruiser commercial, it’s absolutely fantastic, it’s a works vehicle and does a lot of off road driving, it’s faultless.

@@jimjoelliejack We don't have anything like MOT inspections, so I don't know what they entails. I average around 18,000 miles a year and went 12 years on my 2011 Ram 2500 with only routine maintenance, brake pads (2 sets) and tires (seems like thousands), 8 batteries (in pairs, has two in the truck), and two replacement headlamp sockets. I did swap out the front wheel bearings for a free-spin manual hub setup, but that was quite early on. I would guess that it wouldn't have passed your MOT when it was delivered from the factory. First major scheduled service is at 350,000 miles and I sold it before I got there.

I am a technician for Toyota in the Uk, The landcruiser 2023 with the impressive 2.8 2GD engine is one of the most modern reliable vehicles on the market right now the only draw back is the adblue, the vehicle shown is the Invincible trim level (top spec) as it’s a Toyota press vehicle. The commercial grade ones are my favourite 😎🙌

I have had one, 2023, now for a week., It is sluggish, heavy, burns fuel like a drunk sailor on first day onshore, lacks all modern quality in the cabin, no special AC for the back seats, no 220V electrical plugs, and it breaks like a tank, with an elephant inside. It is crazy how much it sells, it really is extremely outdated and not really a good car. I miss my Skoda Kodiaq, better in all sense

@@hatunid you’ve obviously got a lemon , mines doing 36 mpg, goes down to 18 when I’m towing, had a mobile crane pull out on me whilst doing 60 mph and stopped in 15 metre in a straight line. It’s basic but it’s got all I need. It looks good and I’ve never owned a car that people compliment me on. Swop yours for a new defender, in 6 months re write your feelings.

I see no negatives with this car because like every other car, it does what its designed to do. Why does everyone compare to other makes and models ? Pointless. Ive had loads of cars over thirty years, each time I bought one I never compared it to another car that I wasn’t interested in buying. Weird people today, never happy, always moaning they don’t like this or that. Well don’t buy it then.

Pretty stupid how they're still flogging that thing with no hybrid yet available. Pushing to sell what's most profitable powered by decades old engines. This Landcruiser will spend 99% of its miles with hatchback runarounds. But hey, it'll probably get business tax benefits.

@@rich7447 Its not less reliable but as reliable as a land cruiser. Plus rolls royce like build quality matching that of maybach. Just sit in a fully loaded g400d. You can add 18 inch wheels with 285 tyres and it will give you a sedan like ride quality. Its a vault like experience. Its just more expensive and will require more money for maintenance. Thats the only difference. Its a maybach jeep in a sense.
