I got one of these (2023) with package option 15. I looked at 9-10 other SUV's first. This offered the best overall value. The gas mileage is about 34 on long trips, it accelerates well at higher speeds, is grippy as hell, and plenty comfortable. Lots of space, good visibility , easy to drive, and not overly techy. Glad I chose this. And I don't mind the CVT, it pairs well with this engine. My other car is a 2019 Lexus RX350. I look forward to driving this more. Which is good because the wife drives the Lexus.

As its so hard to get my hands on a new Forester, I've been watching a ton of KZread videos on the vehicle. I LOVE your approach, Kenny! You do a great job of showing the tiniest details, as well as constantly educating the watcher on the different trims. I caught the Wilderness tow load of 3000 vs 1500 lbs on the other trims too, but seriously this is the best review i've watched due to detail and education, and i have watched SO many of them. Great job!

Thank you, great real world review, nicely done! I took my 2018 base model Forester in for an oil change today and when they saw that I only had 16640 miles on it, they made me an offer I could not refuse. Dick Hannah Subaru gave, me $300 less than what I originally paid for my 2018 base Forester as trade in (we're talking a 5 year old car here) for an upgrade to a 2023 Forester Premium. Sure, I forked out $10 Grand for the upgrade, but it put me in a brand new Forester 'Premium' that's 5 years younger. I'm pretty happy with the deal, Subaru does treat their customers very well. Excellent resale value, couldn't be better. Buying a Subaru is an investment, no if's about it. Thanks for your review! Now, please excuse me while I take the new 2023 Premium Forester for another fine cruse .................................🚘

For AVH to work, you press the AVH button and you see AVH light up on the dash (in green on the right). when you come to a stop, or if you're already stopped, you will see once completely stopped a green circle will appear alongside the AVH light, which means you can let go of the brake and the vehicle won't move again unless you hit the gas pedal, put your foot back on the brake, or press the AVH button to disarm the system.

I live on the AVH turned on and really easy yo use. Press when you start the car and in green AVH on right side of my display and when I brake it gets another light up showing it’s being held. If both items are not present the brake hold is not set. I verify every time I set for safety reasons. I was told this vehicle did not have this function and was ecstatic to find it did. WARNING it will not engage nor disengage if you don’t have your seatbelt on. Learned the hard way getting stuck in a Sam’s Club grocery pickup.

Hopefully they improved the seats. I'm 6'2 and my wife is 5'9. Neither of us could handle the seats on a short test drive. Great car and my friend owns a Subaru dealership so I can get invoice minus holdback. Maybe 2024? A friend has a 2021 Outback. He was on I-405 when a sizeable plastic bag fell out of the truck bed ahead. The car locked them up in LA traffic. luckily no one was hurt. I know I am not in the majority but one reason the BASE is nice is the lack of tinted windows. The clear glass in all windows makes the car look more cohesive, rather than the disjointed look of light and dark windows. Otherwise, I do agree that the power seat, alloy wheels, and ability to get cross-traffic alert make the Premium trim worthwhile.

Test drive both, I'm waiting 2-3 months for delivery on the Forester. The ride is better and the torque is better, top speed is about the same but you can feel the difference on acceleration, in the Cross you hear the motor rev up and feel almost nothing. The Forester do not push you to seat, but you feel the acceleration matching the revs. It's a little bit bigger and heavier but the 30 horses do make difference.

During the winter months when I have rear seat passengers, they love the heated seats and I love the heated steering wheel. 2 years ago it was time to replace my wife’s 18 year old Camry so I bought her an Outback for her birthday. We had to park her old Camry every winter and drive my car, so that left me with driving our 4WD pickup. We get 5-7 feet of snow in the winter.
