    Wife and I brought home a 23 onyx this March. We and the kids are in love with the car! I literally drive it.... Just to drive it bc it's so enjoyable to drive! LOL Edit: I also wanted to add, I watched your reviews over and over while deciding between this and the palisade and your reviews were instrumental in our decision to go with the ascent! 😊

    These Subaru Ascents are amazing I have been buying them since 2018 They have excellent resale especially 2018-22 This gas mileage is not the best and the wind noise is irritating but over all for the money it’s hard to beat

    I drive a 2022 Subaru Ascent Limited and I am really pleased with the vehicle and all the options it came with. I would highly recommend that anyone interested in an SUV to test drive this vehicle. With the 2.4 Liter Turbo engine it gets up and moves. It is a three-row seat car. Folded down the 3rd seat, put in a bed for our Lab who loves to ride and look out the windows. Thank you for another top-notch review.

    Driving a 2021 ascent limited, that was acquired from trading in my 2019 ascent premium. I drive long range a lot, and it’s a great road car, especially in bad weather with the AWD. After 45,000 miles on this 2021 I’ve had zero problems. Previous Subarus in the family have hit 300k miles. Probably a faster 0-60 at sea level.

    Per usual another great review! Truly love watching the Subaru reviews. The ascent looks amazing and I like the plethora of green stitching haha. My fave is the touring and the Java interior 😍

    Thanks so much for the kind words and supporting me doing this through regular watching! 🙂 I didn’t elaborate this during the video but think I’d personally pick the regular Onyx and save a few G’s over those extra features. But the Touring in that Java leather really is quite nice! Although I can’t say Java without thinking Jabba the Hutt, lol.

    @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 absolutely, I’m so glad that I found you on here. Lol. It’s a great part of my day when I see a new video from ya. I also really like the onyx trim now as well! It’s still that touch of luxury without the too too high tag. However, in my head I like to think I’m that fancy to afford the touring and the Java interior. Lol.

    We have some friends who bought the property next to ours and will start building in a couple of weeks. She owns a company and travels quite a bit in WA, OR and ID. They currently live on the Left side of WA and are worried about how well their Chrysler Pacifica (FIAT) will do over here in our area with all of our winter snowpack. I recommended that they replace their Fiat/ Chrysler with a 23 or 24 Ascent . Todd told me that when they finish their new house then they’ll look at the Ascent and the Toyota Highlander AWD hybrid. We brag about both of our Subie’s all the time. Whatever they decide is up to them. Thanks for the review, Bud. I appreciate them.

    Subarus are awesome! Had an Outback Touring 3.6r with the java brown interior. A buddy convinced me to get a Hyundai Santa Fe as it did not have a CVT. I regret that decision and I am now looking to get another Outback. Most likely will be either the Limited XT or Touring XT model. Can’t wait!!

    Had a 23 Onyx Ascent. Mpgs were bad. If it the 21 combined it would be great. Was getting. 13 city and 18 highway. Took it back and got a 24 Outback Limited XT, averaging 24-25 city. I loves the Ascent, but those mpgs were bad.

    How is the transmission reliability?

  • @AutomotiveAnonymous208

    @AutomotiveAnonymous208

    10 ай бұрын

    They seem to be pretty reliable from what I hear on the forums. And the CVT in my turbo Outback Wilderness has been perfect so far at 28k miles. The biggest concern people seem to share is “if” it ever needed to be replaced a replacement currently costs like 8k, rather than just like a 4k rebuild if it was a traditional automatic and transmission housing unit.

    Ok so don’t laugh…just traded my 23 Wrangler Sahara Altitude for a 23 Ascent Limited Onyx. My kids were going to drive it and the Jeep has zero safety features. I missed the Outback Wilderness we traded in for the primitive Jeep that is so so overpriced. The Onyx Limited is great so far. Mileage worries me a bit as first tank was super low…We also have a 23 Palisade Calligraphy and I am really really close to trading it for the Ascent Calligraphy. The Palisade is nice and has tons of features, but it’s rather cheaply built in a lot of areas….poor leather quality, plastic feel, sometimes just feels cheap.

    Oh I’m not laughing, I agree with you about the Jeeps, in fact I did a video of a 2023 Wrangler and called it unsafe, lol. I’m glad you’re enjoying your Ascent! What kind of MPG did you get with it, and how did your OBW do before you sold it? Thanks for watching! 🙂

  • @jlud78

    @jlud78

    We got about 14 mpg on the first tank maybe, which included half highway and half city. The OBW got about 21-23 for use but barely broke it in and kids just used for school drive mostly.

    Lol, I do it because I’m interested in the real number in a geographical location like where I live, and I hope some others are also interested. Not getting the perfect “rated” time is obviously the unpopular opinion for many people, but it’s the truth of what a vehicle might do. 🤷‍♂️ thanks for watching! 🙂
