Robert I am very happy to see that Subaru is listening to the current owners. I remember having received the survey a few months ago regarding features on the ascent and it looks like they have included all of the best features in the 2023. Simply amazing.

I used them on an Outback Liberty Subaru loaned me to play with a couple of years ago. Really neat feature! I do wish it had a button that I could use to enable it whenever I wanted - would be nice off-roading.

What is tilt in reverse?

@@th.8868 The side view mirrors tilt downward when you put the vehicle in reverse. It makes it so much easier to see curbs when parking or obstacles when off-roading.

I wish Subaru would do a better job with center display design to mitigate glare when it's sunny out.

I always wondered why car manufacturers are all running away from using some sort of hood to block sun glare. This seems to be a growing trend - one I too am not fond of. 😔

Not yet. Maybe Gen 2? I don't know when, but I expect it will happen one day.

Any idea yet on how soon they will allow for orders? Or will release pricing? I’m assuming the Onyx will go up a lot with all the additional standard features

I'm thinking pricing in a few weeks, ordering shortly after or concurrently.

Onyx vs Onyx Limited-- Onyx Limited adds: 20" black wheels, upgraded Harman Kardan audio, nav, 360 cameras, driver distraction mitigation systems. These are not available add-ons to the regular Onyx.

Any word on a 2023 trim for a Ascent Wilderness? Love that trim, but need the space of a Ascent

Will the Uphill / Downhill AVH be retained? Do you think this will also be a competition vs the new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder that also offers 3 passenger 3rd row? In terms of space of leg room, head room, cargo on the 2023 ascent, is it the same as the current gen or there is improvement?

Yes, it still will.

Been very happy with our 2019 Ascent, despite a few recalls (never been an issue for us, great Subaru service). Not 100% certain I like the new centre dash panel, its looking like they've made the mistake VW did with too much electronics and not enough knobs/physical buttons. Kia / Hyundai / Honda have all backtracked, I suspect Subaru will do the same eventually. I'll stick with my gen 1 Ascent under the circumstances, but nice to see them maintaining the model. Its an excellent car and we'd heartily recommend.

I am baffled they removed the covers, but, it seems to be the way everyone is going. I never use my front ones, and rarely use the rear covers. The 2022 wheels should fit fine.

Any chance of a heated steering wheel on the Onyx?

Thanks!!! And, yes, I do. Great question! Both colors will be available for the 2023 Legacy and Outback. The other colors for the 23 OB and Leggy will be Autumn Green Metallic, Crimson Red, Magnetite Gray Metallic, Crystal White Pearl, Crystal Black Silica, Ice Silver Metallic, and Brilliant Bronze Metallic.

@@dwaynebent1748 I especially like the new Eyesight, the four way lumbar, and the 360° Surround View. At this point though, I think I want to get another 100,000 miles on my Ascent. And, maybe wait for Eyesight-X. As big of a step up as Eyesight Gen 4 is, Eyesight-X will be the next evolution. But that won't likely be for *years*

Nice job. Still cannot believe Subaru hasn't fixed the rear gate light. For those of us not wanting to take a knife to the car, the only option we have is to move to a bright white light bulb on the tiny light on the left. That does help. Also, does anybody else think the chrome running the width of the nose make it look like a tired, old Pilot? Regardless, there is certainly enough new tech to justify trading up to the '23. Any idea when ordering will commence?

Will the onyx come with 8 passenger seats?

I think I saw that the new Outback has a tire pressure panel / information at the central upper part of the main panel (the one that is in the middle of the velocimeter and tachometer). Does this type of information will be available for Ascent?

Yes, many dealerships will negotiate price. Some will give you their best price up front and won't negotiate, and some just won't negotiate, no matter what. What area are you buying in, if you don't mind me asking? (you can message me on Facebook, if you want to tell me privately)

Have they fixed the backdoor problem? In past years, you couldn't leave the backdoor open on Ascents or the battery would be drained. This has nothing to do with lights. It has to do with a sensor in the back door. So if you are camping or working on an outdoor project you have to keep the door shut. Very odd for a car advertised as great for outdoor adventures. Dealership's solution is to disconnect the battery. I'm not kidding. So every time I'm at a competition with my dogs and they are crated in the car, I would have to disconnect the battery . . . My old subaru forester was great. I would park, open the back door to let air in for dogs, and I could leave it for hours with no problem.

That was fixed years ago, with a new Power Rear Gate Controller. In 20 minutes it stops keeping the ECU awake (and thus stops draining the battery). The only bad thing is that if you open a door while the liftgate is open, the 20 minute timeout restarts.

I want more chrome and bright polished aluminum wheels.

@@fangytasuki Limited, probably, but, I think the Touring comes really close, slightly above. In a week or so, the configurator should be online for you to do some test builds. I'd lean Touring, just for all the other added features (eg: ventilated seats, more USB ports, etc). But, that's just me.

Big screen yuk. That's one of the reasons we bought an Ascent not the Outback. It looks like some common controls are big screen only, like seat heaters. This is a disturbing trend in automotive interiors. It will work once voice is correctly integrated, but I'll bet voice lags behind, especially when a phone is plugged in.

Meh, just not even to get rid of my 2020 Ascent for this. Maybe next generation Ascent mid-cycle refresh or 2029, hopefully the 2020 will last until then!

I like a bunch of the changes (360 cam would be nice off-roading, as well as parking mode on the cams, etc), but, I too will be waiting for the full refresh - but I also want to break 200,000 miles on my Ascent, before I consider a new one, lol!

I'll *never* say no to more power, lol!!! But, with infinite gearing and a final drive of 4.444:1 and being faster than the half ton lighter Outback 3.6r, I think they did a pretty good job. Heck, professional drivers like MotorTrend's can get it to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.

If you want less chrome buy the onyx. I like chrome don't like the blacked out grill

Carplay doesn't pick up outside noise. It sounds like you have something else going on. If you're talking about noise during a call, go into the head unit's sound settings and play with the microphone sensitivity ("volume") while on a call with someone else until they tell you it sounds good.

no more cd player at lease give us a cd changer, and your new rims suck
