2023 Review

2023 was a great year with both Hubble, Webb and others making new discoveries and producing amazing images. We start out with an update on the DART asteroid collision we covered last year. Staying inside the Solar System, we cover the Parker Solar Probe’s journey through the Suns corona. Moving beyond the Solar System, we’ll see molecular clouds, brown dwarfs, Herbig-Haro objects, and take a deeper look into the Crab and Cassiopeia nebulas. We’ll then do a little astrochemistry in the Iris Nebula. Moving beyond our galaxy, we cover dwarf galaxies, a runaway black hole, a possible intermediate mass black hole, intergalactic stars, and some of the oldest galaxies ever found. We’ll end with the first release images from ‘Euclid,” our newest space telescope.

David Butler is the most trustworthy astro/physics educator on youtube. We can always count on him to present us with the up to date, non sensationalized facts and evidence...alll while explaining it to us better than anyone else.

what you don't like those political guys that (badly) pretend to be natural, while pushing The Narrative

@jamescollier3 I do not. There seems to have been a recent explosion of videos and channels with dumb click bait titles that take real discoveries and evidence and twist them to promote pseudo science or pure speculation. I like my science to be science, not sensationalized nonsense...or science fiction.

@@jamescollier3yeah, the astrophysics narrative. Everybody knows about that, it's so obvious!!!!!!!!
Dear David, I cannot express the gratitude I feel for your presence in our universe. You are the kind of person we teach our children to be.

Good for you
29:05 - Simply incredible. A black hole ejected from a galaxy compressing gas in its wake that causes a trail of star formation. Amazing.
This man is a treasure. My friend is teaching his father about space using your videos.

Thank you David Butler - I was looking forward to your annual review, and you did not disappoint. For an armchair astronomer like me, your content is a valuable resource.
Exceptional stuff. We are lucky to have you.
Thanks David! I always enjoy these yearly wrap ups.
Thank you David! Been patiently waiting for this. I appreciate the time you take to make these videos and I love all of them.
My favorite channel, I've learned so much about astronomy thanks to you. Now I'm teaching astronomy to high school kids, thanks to you
Mr David Butler…Thank you very much I have the utmost respect for you
I've been watching your videos since the first year you started. I actually stumbled upon it by accident, and I am so glad I did. You have been a constant companion through the years and a trusted source for explaining to the common man what many would deem unexplainable. In the beginning, you said you had retired and were starting this series for your grandchildren, which is wonderful. I just wanted to thank you for sharing it with us and our children, or grandchildren, as well.

David Butler -Thank you for your excellent cosmology and science based content without the search for aliens stuff.
Thank you Mr. Butler ! This wrap up is superb
I appreciate the information. As others have said , I can trust your information. Thanks!
David I think you deserve more recognition than you are getting the amount of detail that goes into your videos is amazing 😊. Can we have a video on Arendale (morning star) please 😊😊
Mr David your videos are the best to inform and teach me about my passion and subject. Thank you.
one of the best channels on youtube.
So awesome to see the latest chapter of this wonderful journey! I can't wait to get a quiet hour on Saturday, to enjoy it! Again, thank you so much, Mr. Butler, for the wonderful and relentless determination dedicated to this channel. I have spent countless hours re-watching these series, until I was almost able to present the subjects myself :). Some of the most enjoyed time spent on youtube. Have a wonderful year ahead!
I'm left speechless while enjoying the visually amazing views of the cosmos. I appreciate these videos very much. Computer simulated views are not very interesting that other channels like to use. Thanks very much David Butler!
It's amazing how astronomers have improved their findings because of the latest technology and techniques.
Love these reviews I’ve been watching for years
David, we can`t thank you enough for what you provide here.
LOVE these yearly reviews 👍 Wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR
I think what I love most about these videos is that it takes me back to being a kid in the seventies sitting in the UNC planetarium in Chapel Hill. Of course, we didn't have nearly the quality of images that are available today, but his style of narration and the music and the images just take me back. I'd love to see some of these videos shown on the giant dome at the planetarium
Mr Butler, you are a true star..
I’m not officially an academic since I had to drop out a decade ago, but I would still love to be at a meet and greet if you ever do one. Idk if you go to fermi lab in Chicago or anything like that, but you’re so chill and so cool, I love your content
I was surprised to hear the Parker Solar Probe made it so closs to the sun without burning up!
Been looking forward to this video for months now it’s finally here !!! The content never disappoints , thank you David
There goes my weekend...in a good way
David, thank you very much. I've been following you for years, and you definitely made my world a better place. I know it has been a rough year for you, I wish you all the peace and happiness you deserve. Thank you again, from a random Italian guy living in Spain.
It’s a special thing when David Butler releases a long form video.
Still going strong for over a decade; truly impressive especially since the content is top notch as when first started. Hoping for another decade !

Best part of my year! 🥺 Thank you Mr. Butler
Dear David, don't stop whatever you are doing. When i discovered you ~2 years ago, i was like "oh, another scientific channel". Nope. Not even close. I have a degree in mechanical engineering, and still, so much is to be understood for our world, for our universe and you make a wonderful job describing it. For real, please keep up that magnificent work. And thank you. I wish a happy and a healthy 2024 (and beyond).
Mr. David Butler, you're the best! Thank you for all the informative and enjoyable videos! Keep them coming! Stay well! ❤

You are a star on youtube David. Thanks so much for your time and education. I had a hour long conversation about everything space with a 4th year Astronomer student, He was blown away at my knowledge of space. Years of watching your videos, falling asleep while learning about the unknown. I owe it to you, thank you so much. All the best David.
