My bars (Outback)must be set up slightly different from yours, i very luckily dont have to pop anything off to do an oil change. If you were to just look at them, it kind of looks like you would need to, but once the covers are off the inserts can tilt enough to squeak by the bars. Definitely something to consider when choosing bars. I didn't even think about it when choosing them, but glad they did haha. Not the end of the world, but just one more thing that makes me want to put off doing an oil change longer than i should... Chain tension is something i have yet to really mess with, but im due for my 2nd oil change and will definitely check it out while im at it. Edit: at 2k miles and chain tension still seems within spec to me

Thanks did second oil change myself and hadn’t reset the service yet. Thanks The chain is something else I have to research too for proper tension.

I just bought a Norden 901.My first bike was a KTM 390 adventure. On the adventure the chain tension seems much tighter, compared to the Norden. The tension seems almost loose on the Norden? Does that seem right? Curious what you found out/thoughts? thanks.

I'm getting ready to do my first service and the time it takes to get all that off the engine will be cold LOL

That’s exactly what I dealt with mine. Especially the much bigger skid plate on the Norden Expedition. I ended up taking mine off and then warming it up.

I am also at my first service. I noticed the manual indicates to drain the oil while on the side stand. Would more oil have drained out in this case?

No. I tilted the bike forward and got all of the oil out. The fact that I was showing full after putting in 2.8 liters proves that. Thanks for tuning in!

Read the manual this is not how you do an oil change according to the manual.

@bruceheimbigner9587 not every tiny detail is covered in my videos but I do my best to get most of it. It's a motorcycle not a lab experiment.

@SeanFillner I also use the center stand but then leaned it toward me for a couple minutes on the left-hand side of the center stand on one leg to get more oil residue out, But I also noticed my right fork is leaking oil , only have riden on road thus far :( !!
