That's a Hell of a Cow. Love how you handled that Bass and returned back to the water unharmed.

Notch the rod for various lentgh. Place next to fish for quick measure, remove hook and release. Reduce time out of water. Congats on a banner day.

​@@bobbyboyle8893But honestly on a more real note. Anywhere from Cape May NJ to North of Montauk they can pop up without any sign of birds or a blitz's. They're out there off shore everywhere right now if they run across pods of bunker or schools of herring the bigger bass will run them right into the suds on the beach. So because nobody is catching doesn't mean you wont hook up. It doesn't mean you will but the big cows come in with no warning especially if they spot herring that are running South.

Awesome. Was up there Wednesday morning.. same spot. Blitz came through at sunrise and lasted about 20 minutes before moving outta range. I got a 43" and 3 casts later a 47". Broke my PB twice within minutes 😂 should be more great action to come from this already amazing run. Good luck out there!

Haven't seen either in a long time. Thought maybe you were one of their sons. Two very knowledgeable and dedicated surf fishermen that ran the same stretches as you. Last I heard from BP, his son was graduating from West Point, and his daughter was going for her doctorate. Kormega, his sons were young, but it's been a long time. Tight lines SP.

Assuming he’s using crushed barbs, it helps to get multiple hook sets as you can’t rely on the barbs, also helps you keep more tension on the fish. If he’s not using crushed barbs then a few hook sets are fine if you feel like you didn’t get a good one initially

What are the rules on keeping the striped bass in Jersey? I know they are one of the best eating fish and people keep releasing them.

Currently i believe it one fish a day at 28”-31” to keep. I personally target stripe bass for the sport. We have such a great fishery for tog fluke and Black Sea bass there’s no need to keep stripers(in my opinion)…thank you for watching 🫡

Sir if you could will you explain to me why you moved to a different spot I mean it looked like everyone had filled up all the spaces and that there were no more places to fit in I mean where you were when you caught those first two fish the other guys had formed the line after you found your place having gotten there before them so I am confused because when you moved there was no space left, I see that you asked and the guys let you in but it was a close call I mean I could imagine some words being exchanged had the guys not been accomodating to your request right? so since there was no guarantee of finding a space and you had established your space in the beginning then I am wondering why you wanted to move,, especially if there was no real space to move in to
