287hp in 2003 was insane tbh. More power from a 3.5L n/a V6 than the V8 Mustang at the time. Even more so when compared to other V6s

Particularly at the price point for a stock car it was certainly peppy but there's a reason cars from this era have much more accessible after market support for mods...The VQ was always missing a set of small torquey twin turbos or single big turbo kit (twins are more fun). I have a 650i from the same era that makes about 350HP and the Z is a faster car (due to weight) that retailed at 1/3 the price leaving plenty of money in the bank to push it even further.

Tinted Tailights can be a TERRIBLE idea...I would strongly recommending ridding of those tinted taillights if you can't see them well in direct sunlight. I lost one of my Z's to insurance after I got rear-ended and the cop noted in the police report that my taillights were heavily tinted. They were, and insurance said my vehicle had illegal vehicle safety equipment and denied my claim saying my vehicle had illegal modifications for use on the road. I lost about $25 K after it was all said and done - I was so pissed. Lesson learned though... later discovering most laws exist for a good reason, and if someone can't see your taillights well or at all then you are at risk of injury or death depending on the situation.

As I said, lesson learned. I'm just trying to help others avoid the same mistake.

We've owned three generations of the Z. My dad came home one day driving a brand new 1972 metallic blue 240Z, My then girlfriend now wife bought a 1978 orange 260Z, and my mom bought new a 300zx in gunmetal grey. The new Z has attributes of all these cars, and I think they banged it out of the park design wise, and it sounds like from the review they have also hit the mark in performance. I bought a 1995 Nissan Maxima 5sp, and the transmission/clutch were the best I have ever driven to this this day! The shift was so smooth, and the clutch was feather light. I've driven a lot of sticks, and nothing even came close to this transmission. If you've never had the pleasure to drive a newer Nissan stick do so if the opportunity arises. 👍✌😎🗽

What I am wondering about is the durability of that new 400 hp engine. I remember when it was first announced in the Redsport Infiniti. It used a different turbo setup as compared to most other cars. Only thing is that every person I know who has a turbocharged car has had engine issues that cost a fortune to fix by 100K miles. I see plenty of old 350Z and 370Z's with well over 100K miles and in some cases 200K miles with the original engines and they have had no major engine or transmission issues. I would like to see one of these new Nissan / Infiniti turbocharged V6's with like 125K on the clock and know if the engine has had any mechanical issues.

Then I loved my 2012 370Z, which I got for 33K. The 370Z was already pushing the Z out of affordable sports car range. The new Z just said fuck it. Recommendation, when you're talking about the new tail lights being a nod to the ones of these past, cut to a quick image of the ones you're referring to from the past. It would be better for me not to have to stop the video in Google what those tail lights look like.

The 370 is a nice car all around even in 2023 The problem with it is that it’s cheap now. Too many people that own it just drive it like it’s the fastest thing in the world. Or gets turned into a drift car. My cousin recently bought one and thought it could beat my 340. I told him just get some nice wheels and upgraded suspension and enjoy your car. 😅

If you plug the MSRP of the 350z at release (2003) into an inflation calculator, it comes out to almost exactly to the starting MSRP of the new Z in 2024.

I think Nissa is ahead of Japanese rivals when it comes to road/street cars. You want rest wheel performance? They have the Z series. You want All wheel performance ? They have the GTR series Mitsubishi and Sunsru, more for rally cars. So closest rival to Nissan , perhaps Toyota ?

    Not a 400z. Just a Z. If anything it's a 300z. The model name reflects the displacement, not the HP value. 240z had a 2.4 L24, 260z had a 2.6 L26, 280z and zx had a 2.8 L28, 300zx had a 3.0 VG30, 350 and 370z had a 3.5 and 3.7 VQ35 and VQ37 respectively.
