2023 Nissan Altima Review | A Few Tweaks Keep It Fresh
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Brian gives the often maligned Altima a spin and came away impressed. For 2023, the bones are the same but Nissan gave the exterior a nip/tuck and grafted a larger infotainment screen to the dash. Its driving dynamics actually rival those of the all-new Honda Accord, but one major flaw kind of lets it down...

My biggest complaint with today's sedans is the seating position. Since the segment is shrinking so much, they've all been redesigned to try and appeal to "sporty" buyers. Which means they have low-slung seating positions that make you feel like your ass is dragging on the ground when you're driving. Also makes getting in and out of the car a pain. Much prefer the seating position in my Taurus. I wish Ford had kept making them.

Own a 23 vc turbo and no complaints. Pulls like a freight train especially at midrange and top end not bad either especially at freeway speeds or climbing mountain passes with great fuel economy. No issues from a stop with normal driving but some lag from a dead stop not unusual for smaller displacement turbo engines that need to spool up to hit their power range, traction control and CVT programming may also be an issue but honestly I’m not racing this car 0-60. Owned a 17 Altima, no CVT issues. CVT feels better on this one but got a looooong warranty JIC.

Nissan is the PRIME example of why car companies have stopped making sedans. They can say it’s because people want SUVs now and that’s where the profits are all they want, but that’s not really true and I think we all know that. Nissan has had YEARS to make their Altima stand out, look fresh and stylish, but they choose to use the absolute worst/cheapest materials possible. Their CVT sucks, their fit and finish feels cheap, they refuse to update the most simple thing one a car.. the tail lights. No heated rear seats, no ventilated front seats, only two-stage heated front seats, no HUD, no front parking sensors, no full auto-up/down windows, no fully digital display, no pano sunroof, 1 megapixel backup cameras, etc. All of this paired with their horrid reputation is why nobody wants to buy from them, let alone their most popular sedan. This also applies to many other automakers and their sedans. Yet they’ll go and say “well we discontinued this and that sedan because they just weren’t selling” blah, blah, blah. Hmm, I wonder what they could possibly do to make people want to buy their sedans instead of opting for the only other vehicles in their lineup that get modern updates (SUVs)… the world may never know 🤔 smh.

Agree...it's the same thing the domestics did with their small cars for years. Build the shittiest possible small car and say, "seeeee no one wants a small car." Meanwhile the Japanese came in and changed the game. It's been a few years, but even the rental Chevy Cruz I drove once wasn't terrible. But as you've detailed, now they are doing the same thing and spending all the money on more profitable SUVs.

They actually make for a nice highway cruiser as a rental. The CVT allows it to sit at low rpms, quietly. The suspension is wildly unrefined, so it flounders in corners, but in a straight line the ride is smoother than my BMW. Theres no pretense of being nice to drive, so you get great mileage. And honestly if you revel in the shittiness, it's kinda fun. For instance, the speakers make you hear your favorite songs in completely new ways. I'd never want to own one, but for a straight line drive like Chicago to Austin, you can honestly do a lot worse.
Subarus and Nissans are Junk!
LOL...My Maverick pickups, one at $24,505 and the other at $29080 are a total bargain compared to these currently overpriced sedans. Our west coast gasoline at $5.20 a gallon does not compare to $3.39 a gallon where you are currently. You must have a new job to be living in that hell hole, where the streets challenge any suspension system and one must buy a new car every two years or so, due to the salt. Hope you are at least learning new things where you currently reside.
So... old.......

The ultimate Ghetto sedan to zip through traffic with no license plates and maximum interest in payments.
Trash CVT broke at 30K miles. Stay away from this brand forever. It gives CVT shitty name

We´ve had the opposite experience. My dad still has his Altima. 120k miles and still runs like charm. I gave my old 2018 Sentra to my brother now that he is in college. The car still runs great (almost 80k miles). I don´t own a Nissan now, but I´ve got nothing negative to say about the brand, actually quite the opposite.

You are lying!
Nissan is WOKE big time!
Cheapest car between midsize sedans to lease so why not. Strongly considering SL trim as a next vehicle. Im fine wit CVT although would prefer automatic .
