2023 Mazda CX-30 Turbo AWD Review: Turbo Family Fun

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When the 2023 Mazda CX-30 Turbo AWD showed up, it was on a cloudy day. The Deep
Crystal Blue Mica color fell short of any excitement but thankfully the next day it was sunny and the deep crystals definitely shined! The front end design of the CX-30 has an angry look that I love. The hood narrows the headlights looking like a browed look to them. Having the black 18” wheels help fill the wheel well that’s framed in black plastic fender trimming. An easter egg that Mazda has incorporated into their cars is the breathing effect that their turn signals simulate.
I get inside the CX-30 and the quality of materials still surprises me at the Mazda’s price point. This CX-30 had the white interior option but it also had brown colored finished. I don’t think the white, brown, and black colors really matched with each other. I think it would’ve worked if any combination of 2 of the colors were used. The steering wheel ergonomics are one of my favorites. Having a multifunction button keeps things nicely organized in the design.
Under the hood, the 2.5L turbocharged engine was delivering 250 horsepower when you choose to fill up with 93 octane. If you decide to save at the pump with 87 octane, you’ll still get a decent 227 horsepower. I wasn’t sure what the CX-30’s tank was filled with, but it did feel plentiful in power. I think the most impressive part was the all-wheel drive system that transferred the power to the correct wheels to deliver a very sporty feel.
If you’re looking for a CUV with some life to it, you’ll want to consider the 2023 Mazda CX-30 Turbo AWD.

17" wheels like the Meridian would be BETTER-- more sidewall (many advantages to that).. and that is what I'd put on it. The dealers won't change them- but they wILL sell the wheels to you still boxed- and I can take it to a tire shop and have the rest done. (I'm not able or i'd do it myself). Going to put a 1.5 inch factory lift on it too. It was THIS or a CX-50 and I LOVE the look of the CX-50.. so we'll see.. The more I see the better I like THIS-- over the CX-50 and I"m 67 so don't really need the extra room in the CX-50 I just like the STYLE.

Great detailed review man! I’m debating between this and 2024 Crosstrek Limited… I love the mazda but man I wish it had a touch screen like the one in the crosstrek. The mazda has so much more power though!

When you compare the interiors, the Mazda is going to blow you away at the quality. I havent driven the crosstrek but im looking at the site and seeing its only leather trimmed seats and not full leather. The 2.5 turbo is a lot of fun. The Crosstrek also has a CVT which will definitely lower the feel of the already lower 152 horsepower. If you can wait, maybe they'll refresh the CX-30 with that new system from the 90. If not, I can tell you that the big knob is pretty good for you to navigate with. Thanks for watching

touchscreens are lame, unsafe and dirty. Mazda does not make cars for iPad kids, the dial is way more practical and safe than a touch screen. fingerprints also show how dirty you are as a human, so yeah. lol.

91 is as high octane as we can get around here.. hopefully that will work. I'm thinking of getting a naturally aspirated engine- (NO turbo) and having a SUPERCHARGER put on it-- MUCH better...better for the car- for performance- and for MPG..(will get almost the same mpg because you don't need to accelerate as much to get the power.. and there is NO lag and NO heat issues for oil or anything else.

You said it was MAD...iT KNOWS it is quality and wants the CRAP on the road to get the heck out of the way!!! :) THIS- as a samarai would say- is the katana of cars... (meaning EXTREME high quality everything).. and I LOVE that blue. Looks GOOD.

I checked out Subasu CROSSTREK and love the little bugger-- looks like it's fun etc.-- BUT it - to me- LOOKS and SOUNDS like cheap crap.. like it's going to fly apart just trying to get on the freeway... (and I know they are good vehicles- I sold them for a while many years back and they've only gotten better.. and they have THE best AWD hands down-- but they just feel and sound CHEAP to me... and I can't get past that.

Not crazy about all the black cladding around the vehicle. For the money, I would rather have the CX-5.

I loved the CX-5 but the CX-50 is definitely my favorite choice. I know that has plastic cladding but it makes more sense in the more “off-road” CX-50.

@@Revmatchmedia I agree. The cladding just looks better on the bigger CX-50. The CX-50 will eventually replace the CX-5 when it catches on. I'm waiting patiently for the CX-70. I have a 2022 CX-5 Signature and I love it. Awesome vehicle. Great video and review BTW.

Thanks for the kind words. I can’t wait to try the inline 6-cylinder with plug in hybrid. Hopefully they can set up a smooth power delivery like Mercedes does with their hybrid turbo.

White seats??? oh hell now--- that's just GOOFY... (MY opinion- not knocking it for others).. I don't give a rip about the BOSE crap-- I NEVER play any sounds of any kind while driving--- when I drive- I DRIVE.. focus on the drive- NO fidgeting with screens or car play BU....h..T!!! I was a tow driver for a long time in Cali- 87% of the accidents I worked were CAUSED by some fool messing with screens (info crap or phone) and after you clean up wrecks where babies and small kids are KILLED by that STUPIDITY-- you'd hate it too!!!
