Wasn’t expecting a track impression 👍👍
Even though I'm not a car guy, even I know that taking a Sportage to a race track is just heresy. Could always test how many Yuri's and Jacob's could fit in the back with the backseats folded down.
Remember this is a mid-range EX affordable hybrid so the audio is not premium. Definitely a value. First-rate photography, looks like it was graded in post!
Great hybrids. It's a pity the dealers are killing it with "negotiable" markups. 8k 10k markups out here in LA. I see a 5% interest rate and a markup..fuk that noise. I can pay for the gas with a ICE car for 3 years instead.
When I test drove one of these I noticed a very smooth/luxurious ride, some body roll but plenty of grip at the same time. This vehicle feels quicker 0 to 60 than it is on paper but it does seem to run out of steam over 80 mph. For $32,500 and up to 40 mpg combined I highly recommend this vehicle. The front headroom is not great but it just makes the cut for me. I could not really notice a difference with the drive modes.
y'all ought to take all suv's to the track from now on lol, that was a lot of fun to watch!

That EV to ICE thing you guys experienced, sounds like the thing we had on the 1st generation Optima hybrid, before they did the update to fix that. It would be in EV up to 25MPH before the gas engine came on, which made for a scary experience to merge on to a highway from a stop. Since then, they didn’t do that anymore on the Optima hybrid, you want power, you got it no matter what mode you were in. Great review guys!

H/K tuned their hybrids to start and stay in RV mode as much as possible The only way to prevent the Sportage from starting off in EV mode is to switch to Sport mode. It's something I have learned after renting a Sonata Hybrid for a few days.
@waynerm002

@@JT-fq2bl True however, they will kick on the ICE system if you give it more acceleration and use both to power the vehicle. The newer systems had bigger electric motor that can power the wheels up to 80 mph, if you had batter power from start. I would drive my 2016 Optima hybrid in Sport mode to build up the battery, then I could drive for a few miles in EV mode around town. That instant torque off the line was fun and got me into EVs later.

My girlfriend and I recently picked up an X-Line version of this. It is the first Kia for both of us.There are so many good things about it, namely the looks, the interior, the fit and finish, that I try to overlook the issues it has. It rides very nice, but as you can see in the video, it has excessive body roll. That's to say nothing about the wonky-ass transmission this thing has. The hybrid might fix that major issue and I'd be okay with that. However, I would like it if I felt comfortable doing more than 40 MPH on my local on-ramp. It's kind of a bummer because I REALLY like this vehicle otherwise. Drive it before you buy it. Take it on the highway in cruise control. Make sure you can deal with it. I want to like it more than I do...

My big complain with the audio system, specifically the Harmon system is that there’s no dedicated subwoofer. All the bass comes from the lower speakers in the door. No bass comes from the rear door speakers either. It can get muddy at higher volumes and the bass not coming from the back removes that bass you can feel.

Trying to decide between the Sportage SX Prestige and the Toyota Venza Limited. A few things on the Kia concern me such as reliability of the small turbo engine mated to the hybrid system. I have read that turbos run at high temperatures, and that the constant starting and stopping of the turbo engine when on/off electric power will lead to turbo problems. Anyone else heard of this? Also, I have read that the Harmon Kardon stereo is not good, and that the heated windshield elements are causing glare problems at night for some people. The Venza doesn't have a turbo on their hybrid, and it has a highly rated JBL sound system. But most reviews complain about some engine and road noise. But I think I have a Toyota bias due to their long term reliability. Thoughts?
how often do you change the temperature on an automatic climate control system? I've had a VW Jetta GLI for 11 years and I leave it on 72 Auto for 99% of the time I've driven it. I do NOT see the 2 function system as an issue. just leave it on Radio mode and you'll be fine.

Watch his review of the 2022 Tucson (which is no different than the 2023 Tucson)... it's clear he hated the exterior styling of the 2022 Tucson, though he seemed perfectly fine with the vehicle as a whole mechanically and drive-train (which is identical to the Sportage), i think because he didn't like the exterior he nitpicked at every minor cosmetic thing he could on the Tucson. Having said that, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... everything he hated about the "look" of the 2022 Tucson I thought looked great, and I now own a 2023 Tucson Hybrid... I consider the 2023 Sportage my SUV's twin brother, just with a different style. Of the two, I prefer the Tucson, but I get it, everyone has different preferences in style. Savagegeese basically said the Tucson was "too stand-outish" and in this video he liked that the Sportage "blended in" with other SUVs... too me, that's boring... I want my car to be a head-turner, not blend in with every other SUV. My bottom line, both the 2023 Tucson Hybrid and Sportage Hybrid are great Compact SUVs. Go with whichever you can get a better deal on and/or whichever styling appeals to you the most... you can't go wrong with either.

I love the front of the Tucson when the lights are off and the front of the Sportage is a bit busy. The rear of both are attractive however if the Sportage rear lights connected it will give it a more prestigious look. My son thinks the Tucson rear lights look like spider legs. I dont like the creases on the side of the Tucson and it will be a nightmare to repair the doors if they are damaged. Interior of both are nice but I think the Tucson edged out the Sportage because of the piano black in the center console, however the Sportage drivers display has a wow factor to it. Since I'd like better handling than my CX-5, I don't think I'd be happy with the Sportage. Intriguing car though with the affordable hybrid setup.
I just don't understand why they did another heavy refresh. The new Sportage released during the pandemic and it's not like they were readily available. I know they like major refresh every 2 years but this time it seems like they refreshed it a year later.

They just introduced a hybrid. I don't think they did much to the rest of the lineup.
Good 0-60 as well, fast especially around town. But finding one & those ADM's it's best to wait. You could milk the federal tax credit on the PHEV.

Yea its a hotcake. Simply the best Suv in the segment.
Nice
A little past the 12 minute mark, “I was getting like 31-35 mpg’s but then again I was driving like an idiot.” Classic.
Is sportage when you tie each other up while wearing nomex fur suits?
Come on guys....I drive a 2022 Tucson Hybrid and I would say that 99.5% of time the startup of the gasoline engine from EV mode is COMPLETELY imperceptible. Even while rolling. Totally different experience than the usual CVT/hybrid drivetrains

@@ThirdBrainLives I said the same thing for many years, just like tools like you say. However, it is a very good, useful daily driver that gets excellent fuel economy. One day that may matter to you.

@@dragospahontu You may be right, but it depends on how you define "better". If you mean better fuel economy, then I would agree. But if you mean better driving experience, um, no.
Love/hate the birds 🦅 in the interior/ exterior section. 😉
I got the Prestige Trim for only $4,000 markup and it rides beautifully, and a nice pickup in sport mode. Despite paying higher for it I'm filling up the tank just once a week rather than 4 times and I drive every day
the track segment has me cackling
I think that you guys would have had a much different verdict in winter. We have the sister vehicle, ‘22 Tucson Hybrid, and the winter fuel economy is atrocious. Most electrified vehicles have this issue but this one seems to be particularly bad. In February, on a drive from Milwaukee to Rockford IL, we averaged 22.3 MPG at 71 MPH AVG speed.Typically when not only driving in city, our winter averages are in the mid 20s. I just don’t think this is good enough, I expect a hit in winter to fuel economy but getting low 20s on the highway in winter could be a dealbreaker.
