OMG it was so refreshing to hear someone else point out how overrated all wheel drive is. For most drivers of course.

I had a 2017 Niro, now we have a 2023. Both are great cars, but the 2023 is so much nicer. Our 5th Kia.

Does it have enough power for mountainy hills? and how about in the snow? I know we don't get much snow, but usually for about 2 weeks of the winter we do (like 30 miles south west of Portland Oregon) and though I mostly run around town, I will probably go on a very long road trip at least once a year to the likes of Texas to visit family, and screw flying if I can drive. So how much of a difference is there between strait city driving vs long range highway? (MPG etc) I've been looking at the Sportage because of the AWD, but it gets much less mpg, and has more power... So will this one actually does just as well as a FWD? And hey, I do Dashing sometimes, and don't want a big gas budget. lol

Our older Niro got high 40s in NE winter and low 50s in summer without really trying. Also often with multiple people in the car and dogs. We had Michelin cross climate tires that are snow rated and the car did great in hilly snow covered roads. Just can't crawl up a hill and expect to make it up, need a little momentum like any fwd car. We like it better than our crosstrek which is overkill in terms of awd for most scenarios. Great handling too, received almost the highest score you can get in the moose test. The Niro is made in kias Korean factory too vs Sportage hybrid is in Georgia. People have different opinions about that but anecdotally there are less issues from Korean built kias.

There's not much to complain about . The piano black sucks . I have a 19 and don't have the tach , but some people complained . I like having a shifter , and it's not silly . Our 19 has been fault free in four years . I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and the lack of AWD has never proved an issue during our 5 month winters , although it is flat here . We use winter tires and it's a good little winter car . This new one seems a little quiete . In our car regular mode

Odd fact, the HEV in the UK has the dial shifter on the 2 upper trim styles, maybe the lowest, but I haven't seen one of those.

Totally agree I really dont like piano black. Why do car manufacturers do this.

Do you think Kia Niro is nothing special? Search KM77 Kia Niro. Niro passed 81km/h in moose test. It is sports car level.

This or Toyota Camry Hybrid?

Actually it compares to the Corolla Cross Hybrid.

Kia Soul may be cheaper but it’s uglier with the boxier shape.

It’s a shame that all of these bang-for-the-buck Korean cars aren’t as reliable. That’s why people act like Toyota is the only car company that exists, the rest of the competition is not that good to them and just shouldn’t exist at that point. Competition is pointless when it comes to cars because you need to get from one place to another as reliably as possible. There’s no variety in reliability.

Are you kidding? Korean cars made a huge step in reliability. Some models are even more reliable than Toyota, look at reliability charts online. Kia has also a more luxurious feel, better multimedia and far more options for a lower price (Talking about European cars here)

Our Niro is 4 years old and it's been dead reliable . It's by far the best car that I've ever owned . In 4 years it's had one sensor replaced under warranty .

I see a hell of a lot of the Korean twins on the road here , far more than Toyota . They have been getting trashed by the media , but they are definitely much better than American cars at least .

Our hybrid Niro has been completely reliable for 5 years , it's much more reliable than the plug In version, or virtually any other car . The brakes hardly wear , because of regenetive braking . It doesn't have a starter , the electric battery starts it . And it doesn't have a 12 volt lead acid battery . It's basically like turning on a light .
