Wow!! This is my most favorite Kia sedan. Brilliant review and POV test driving bro.
Nice thorough review. I enjoy the casual driving and the on throttle comparisons with different drive modes.
Very nice review. Wow you really crammed a lot of details into it. Thanks!
Great review.. I just got one yesterday and I’m in love 😍😍

Very good review . Ive had my 2021 K5 GT LINE with premium package for a little over a year now. Really like it. On my trips from Southern California to Las Vegas , about 235 miles, at 80 85 mph, im still getting about 35 36 mpg, with the AC on the whole way. Premium package Really is a must, panoramic sunroof, led interior lighting, upgraded cruise with stop and go feature, upgraded led headlights. Upgraded radar safety turn traffic avoidance, pedrstrian detection. Yes, very nice cars..and DECENT POWER.

I second this, I own the same car/package as well really feels premium. I wanted to upgrade to add new features but besides the new Kia logo I see no changes in the 2022 or 2023 to upgrade, it's the same car. Kinda disappointing Kia couldn't add some extra perks like power folding mirrors at least or AWD in the GT version.

For the 2023 K5, Kia split up the packages for some reason; there is now a premium package (auto emergency braking, highway driving assist, smart cruise control, and LED projector headlights) and a panoramic sunroof package (panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting, Gloss Black B-Pillar, windshield trim surround, and antenna, and black side view mirrors). I was a little upset when I saw they split the packages up because it is slightly more expensive, but I definitely had to get both! I ordered a K5 GT-Line with both packages in AWD and I cannot wait until it gets here! I also wish the EX or GT Trim came in AWD, but oh well!

The problem is that all Kia dealers are putting $5k in top of the MSRP So it’s about $33.5k
I liked your review. I have a GT in Wolf Gray with a black interior on order…
Best part is the GT-Line you can get awd, like I did with my blue '22. Commuting I got 32 mpg off the first tank! I know that they separated the premium pack out for '23 to not automatically include the moonroof, I heard there was issues getting parts for it in '22. Also noticed they updated the GT-Line badging, no red in the GT part. Car and Driver tested the GT-Line fwd for a 0-60 in 7.0, which is pretty snappy for a 180 hp car of this size. Great car.

I just got the awd '24. It's a solid car so far obviously. Had an infiniti q50 with the turbos going out every 40k miles. People will learn eventually that Kia isn't all that bad. I pity those driving the Q50 now. I had a Mustang too and this interior beats that by a mile. The new body style of the Mustang got some attention in 2017 but now it's just run-of-the-mill. I think Kia is definitely moving in the right direction.
Gorgeous car! Go Kia!!!!!
How do turn on the “lightning bolt day time running lights” I have the same exact car and can’t figure out how to make the DRL move like that.. please let me know thanks!
Haven't gotten to test drive one, do you think it will still feel quick coming from an Accord Hybrid (0-60 6.7 seconds)?
I just bought this exact car but the AWD with panoramic moonroof and premium package. Arrives end of august.

Same, except mine won’t be here for another three months unfortunately. Got the white w red interior, very excited for it
Which u think is better this or the Altima sr ?
Wish I could had got this ride at Century, it was sold before I knew it was there ( Red Interior)
Hopefully they put an AWD option in the next K5 GT, especially if they're gonna discontinue the Stinger
Is the GT line AWD ?
The car needs a suspension fix to reduce the body roll. No not the same as the GT, but definitely better than what's currently in the K5 GT Line.
Nice car for $30K and great mileage. I would think the Wolf Gray paint would be a good choice for the Florida sun,

@@wizels1403 I got lucky buying my K5 GT LINE with premium package in june of 21. Total price of car was 28.752. Its absolutely crazy what cars are selling for now. I'd definitely wait awhile and see if things start getting reasonable again.
Does this have a wireless charger?
Why doesn't this have the full screen Guage?
Good review. The K5 is a good design but has several modern day baked in flaws that these manufacturers seem to keep making. Starting with the now upper trimmed base model LXS with its dull cheap looking std wheels. Last year you could get the LXS with AWD and that came with the much nicer GT Line and EX wheels. But that model is axed forcing a move up to the GT Line. The GT line is okay but you are forced to take an all black interior and there are bizarre restrictions on exterior paint colors with different models. The EX has the best interior color choices but again one must choose a specific exterior color in order to avoid black. The EX is also now over 30K but is FWD only, another flaw! And last but not least these are really thin on the ground still and quite scarce. None of my 3 Kia dealers has had one of these in stock in well over a year and used ones are priced as if they are new still.

@ianemory5800

If you're looking for a hybrid go with the Sonata as for some reason they don't have a K5 hybrid. Both it and the K5 are more of the family style with a smoother ride both are very quiet. The Elantra is more of the speed of comfort over the three. Granted I test drove the 22 not the 23 of all of them before I bought the K5 myself. Also with noting the K5/ sonata get slightly better gas mileage

So weirdly specific. 30 license plate, 2 pairs of shoes under size ten 😂💀🤣
Is this a watered down premium packaged GT-Line? I have a 2022 GT-Line in wolf gray with the red seats but it also has a panoramic sunroof, white LED touch sensitive dome lights and glossy black exterior door plates. Or did Kia cut corners and take stuff out to save themselves money?

I have a 2022 KIA Forte GT with the 1.6 liter making 201 HP. For the life of me, I can't understand why KIA make this 1.6 liter 180 HP, with a car that 2 to 3 hundred pounds heavier than my GT??? For God's sake pump up the horsepower and then there will be less complaints about needing more power in the K5 for passing on the interstate. Makes no sense!!!!
That’s all the hp from a k5 turbo 4? The sorento gets 281 hp an 311 torque and hits 60 in 5.7-6.7 how is it that s 3 row SUV is quicker than a sedan using a similar turbo 4?
What changed from 2022 to 2023? Looks the same

Very minor. The badges in the back are more minimal looking as well as the badge on the steering wheel doesn’t have the red in it like the previous year and most notable the seats have gt line engraved in instead of stitched in which me personally the 2022 I prefer but other then that there is literally no other differences.

Nicer inside, but not as good looking outside.
the engine is made to use gas of 87 octane or higher. it says so explicitly on page 1-2 of the owners manual. why would you tell people to buy higher octane gas? you do realize that it's a waste of money to buy high octane gas for this engine, right?
@johnfranklin5277
Жыл бұрын
Manufacturers like to say that so people don't get turned off when they say TAKES PREMIUM GAS..I own this car, it does PING on regular gas, which is not good for an engine. Yes, all cars have had knock sensors since the 90s, but it has to detect PING, before it retards timing to STOP the pinging. Which of course reduces engine POWER. After I switched to PREMIUM, which was soon after I bought it, no more ping, and power stays maxed..
@aaronkcmo
Жыл бұрын
@@johnfranklin5277 that's not what the octane rating means. it's specifically a measure of how much compression the fuel can withstand before pre-detonating. the higher the number, the more compression it can withstand. high octane gas is only necessary for high compression ratio engines that deliver fuel through the intake valve. GDI, like on this car reduces the need to use a high octane fuel. The ability to use 87 octane gas is a major selling point because it's cheap and you can find it anywhere. octane rating has no affect on the power output of an engine.
I don't understand what's up with KIA. I have a 2022 KIA Forte GT, which has the same engine as this K5, but mine puts out 201 hp. My car weights slightly over 3,000 lbs. The K5 is 2 to 3 hundred pounds heavier, but KIA tunes the engine to put out 180 hp. No reason whatsoever for this stupidity. This KONA which also has the same engine puts out 195. This car can use more power, what the hell are you doing KIA?
American K5 doesn't have a digital dash, which makes the interior lower level. And even 2023 has no digital dash? Then what's the difference with the 2022 model.....bummer
