Shoppers looking for a luxury three-row SUV might have more options than they think. In its top Calligraphy trim, the Hyundai Palisade is distinctly upscale. Cliff spent a week with it, and he walks us through the look and feel, the ride, the quality and more. His verdict was that it impresses in most areas and falls short in just one. Watch to find out where the Palisade Calligraphy excels and whether it’s a great choice for you.

Such a sweet ride. I don't think it falls short dynamically. It performs as well as intended
love it. just ordered one!
Really like your revues!
I hear the Palisades engine is very smooth

I have a 2023 Calligraphy, the engine is perfectly power and the transmission shift is butter smooth. I love this suv

Yup I have a 24 calligraphy butter smooth and very quiet engine
They could honestly make a sensible 4-seat Genesis version and steal the Cullinan's lunch.
Good job on the review!! Dropping a comment for engagement 😋
Excellent review, you should do the Honda pilot 2023
I wished the Calligraphy had middle row seats making it an 8-seater :(
@almassengale

That really is a major flaw for me too. Other than that this could be a perfect car for my family but with three kids being able to stick them all in one row and maximize cargo from time to time is important. The MDX and new Pilots removable middle seat important.

They have an 8 seater option available in Korea.. it’s unfortunate here 😢
damn I like that green
Better car than a Toyota I have one got rid of the Toyota and bought a hyundia much better vehicle rides better and perform s much better. Toyota want know where this went
Thanks you for shering, is my friend👍
Would love it if it had middle row bench seat. Don't like captain seats.
Why do other car reviews state the larger screen does not have wireless car play or android auto. Your reviewer said it does have wireless car play
@michaels7984
Жыл бұрын
It doesn't. It's one of the most common complaints about the vehicle.
Wireless apple car play? I thought the Calligraphy only had wired car play?
how would you know the quality of the leather without the testing of time through wear?
@ezrapardede1921
Жыл бұрын
the feel, duh?? if the feel of the leather alone is already better than basically every competition in the class, then it is better quality
They advertise towing but really do not offer a package or hitch that doesn't detract from it's looks.
hyundai is very nice car
Wireless CarPlay is only on the lowest trim models. It’s not on the Calligraphy model.

It’s not on any trim for 2023. All trims use the same screen.

@@wariombh sorry bro that’s not true it’s on the base model. Crazy right. But true.
Apple CarPlay is wired not wireless
Next generation the whole front of the car will be grill.
It’s a nice SUV but the performance suffers a lot. I’ve driven the Kia sibling and it’s smooth but Hyundai needs to offer a it with more power. Toyota and Ford both offer turbo 4 cylinders and hybrids and they feel more powerful and get better mpg. Ford also offers a 3.0 turbo V6 that it a great engine. Hyundai really needs to put the 2.5T and 3.5T from the Genesis GV80 into the Palisade plus a hybrid version to win me over.
@boogie1354

Turbos do not give you better mpg. It just boost power on a smaller engine and alot of Turbos require premium fuel. Palisade's engine is perfect for this vehicle with all the optional drive modes. My 2023 Calligraphy is the nicest I've ever own.
I just wish they had a blackout Calligraphy option.
This is the best in class. No other future upcoming 3 row suv has a chance to compete. That vehicle already lost badly to the palisade and we haven’t seen it yet
@almassengale
Жыл бұрын
Very good car but not beyond competition. The new hybrid Grand Highlander will crush it in MPG and the new Pilot can be had in top trims with both more cargo space and a removable middle seat for 8 passengers.
@naveenthemachine
Жыл бұрын
@@almassengale no it won’t. The palisade has already crushed the grand highlander in every way. The palisade proves that you don’t have to sacrifice too much to get the mpg. The pilot though has a chance because as we’ve seen befofe Honda is the only brand truly capable of competing with hyundai and Kia
@almassengale
Жыл бұрын
@@naveenthemachine The Grand Highlander isn't out yet so it will be hard to know exactly what to expect but with the Hybrid Max powertrain it will likely make 340 horsepower while getting several more MPG than a Palisade while the regular Hybrid powertrain will likely break 30mpg combined which is a good bit better than the 19/24 the Palisade offers. The competition is a good thing. The Palisade is a tremendous vehicle and its good that both Honda and Toyota are seriously upping their game to compete. The upcoming Mazda CX90 ought to also be very good.
@naveenthemachine

@@almassengale exactly. We dont have to wait for it. Because we know they’ll screw it up badly. We waited 15 years for the tundra sequoia and LX. All of them were major disappointments Toyota can’t compete anymore. Their quality is nowhere near as high as Honda Mazda Hyundai or Kia. If anything they are on par w GM Most Toyotas have cheap plastics all over the place

Im not sure how much value my comment would bring but I test drove and inspected both the 2023 palisade caligraphy and Pilot and as much as I am a loyal honda person I must admit that in the interior department the pilot doesnt stand any chance compared to the palisade. The plastics are not high quality and can best be described as utilitarian. Driving wise neither are ultra sporty or dynamic but can only be best described as commuters/appliance vehicles like mark from savage geese described.Also for dynamics and fun to drive go check out an mdx or cx 9. Personally i waited till the new pilot was revealed and then again to test drive it and sadly was disappointed in the car. I ordered the palisade caligraphy awd in green and the only vehicle that can potentially sway me away from the palisade is the upcoming cx 90 which im rooting so hard for especially with an upgraded interior, larger than cx 9 and more spirty/fun to drive
I completely agree that the top trim is the one to get. The value is just unbeatable. I looked at a lot of cars and keep coming back to this one.

"when you do dtart to push the palisades, there is some roll to it, that's just how it is." no...that's NOT just how it is. that is poor suspension tuning. this is what happens when hyundai starts supporting these reviewers. the reviewers are no longer your trusted go-to for craftmanship or quality, for engineering or reliability. no...this guy NEVR mentions the hyundai engine issues going on or the failed interior after 3 to4 years of family wear. just this kind os crap analysis.

I report how these cars drive when brand-new. Car and Driver is a better source for one-year reliability after 40,000 miles, or Consumer Reports for surveying owners. We can't do that here, and those problems you mentioned are best discussed on forums like for any car model. As far as suspension goes, it's cushy. But it's not poor tuning. Want poor suspension tuning? Look at my review of the Mercedes GLA.

@@northrollingacres well,ok...i can and do find lots of sources for reviews. my point is you are leading consumers on purchases. and as such, a responsibility is understood, implied. you should mention these other sources during your review or mention specifically that reliability is not part of your opinion or review...and consumers should consider.
