2023 Hot Rod Power Tour Day : 1 from Atlanta Motor Speedway!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's Hot Rod Power Tour time folks so here we go with our daily videos, first step of the Hot Rod Power Tour 2023 is where the 2022 Hot Rod Power Tour ended, at Atlanta Motor Speedway! Unfortunately this year we weren't able to get passes to make laps but we're going to still going to have a great time! Oh, and bonus, The South decided to turn down the thermostat this year so it's not face of the sun this year, more slow broil.
Unfortunately as seems to always be the issue with HRPT events there are some... challenges with arrival and getting people onto the property and into the show. As you will quickly see in this video, while not as bad as it has been in the past we still certainly had... let's call them... opportunities. But, never to let one go to waste we made the best of it! HRPT 2023 is going to be another great experience, certainly not without it's challenges, but if everything were smooth and easy all the time where would the fun in that be?
We hope you enjoy the 2023 Hot Rod Power Tour Day 1 video from Atlanta, Day 2 we will be leaving and heading to Columbia South Carolina! Sorry this one took so long to upload, the internet at our first hotel was TERRIBLE!
Oh I almost forgot, there's a special guest appearance from "Uncle Luke" Mr Thunderhead289 and the even crazier than expected Sky Scraper Intake! If you aren't familiar with this gentleman, you need to be.

Never seen anything like that Maverick with a story intake. Sounds great. His hands were already dirty. And that old Duster doing the track was funny. Does not handle like a sports car. Loved that 37 pick-up. Great Build.

@kirkgahley; @kirkgahley6761; Kirk Gahley, that tall intake tube mounted on top of the carburetor still remains to be a 'joke', s Thunderhead289 stated; now just an 'freek' attraction 'joke' for all of the ingnorant people too. His other developments with electronic control do clearly seem useful, helpful, beneficial - for those that refuse to step into the 'modern 1980s' of production vehicles with EFI; previously within other previously especially racing vehicles, aircraft, and more. Goo Luck, Sincerely

Nice old Fairlane in front of you with your hood up, 66 or 67, I had a 67 Fairlane GTA with a 428cj that was far from stock and would have been entirely too hot to even think about sitting in line. And at 8 miles to the gallon of racing fuel any trip out of the question. Mad scientist is putting it mildly. Lol

Great videos, keep them coming, and you being an S10 guy at 53 minutes I can't believe you panned right past that black S10 LOL I have an 82 S10 with a built 355 and new b&m th350 transmission going back in it. Zero option truck so I won't have any AC either. Actually the only option my truck has is radio delete 😁

@Lucore Auto and LucoreRacing; @Mechanical Advantage Garage; Hopefully both Austin and Karry may have been properly informed about the sub-compact black 1975 [or -6] Pontiac with the TransAm graphics in the scoop hood, side vents in the upper front quarter panels, H-body/frame is actually the Astre Model, version of the same Chevy Vega - sold with the Iron Duke 2.5 L Cast Iron 4 cylinder engine only, compared with the Chevy Vega 2.3 L, aluminum block 4 cylinder engine [my father (O"H) bout a 1975 Vega, notchback, my HS buddy's brother bought a Pontiac Astre (the family only bought Pontiac vehicles ->thus his first vehicle was passed from father to older son, second son; 1965 Tempest, white ext/blue int, auto, ps, 326 c.i.). The Monza began in 1975 model year, the Pontiac Sunbird afterward along with the Oldsmobile Starfire, Buick Skyhawk; all on the same H-body/frame chassis with each slightly different nose, grill, tail lights, section; the slanted 2+2 rear available on Monza, Sunbird, Skyhawk, Starfire. There was a produce Sunbird with Formula markings, a V-6 engine. This specific silver, Sunbird with that black vinyl top, rear "Landau" window, appears to be a modified, custom painted similar with the Formula markings, but clearly not the original. Actually enjoy those vehicle too, Perhaps if Yo have seen the Monza Spyders which are built, developed by father since joined by son within the "Spyder Garage", You may enjoy them also. They were participating within HRDR 2022, perhaps HRPT 2022 also. There are many unique, special, delightful vehicles shown within the videos. Thank You both, much for recording, compiling, editing, rendering, posting = sharing. Obviously You are not able to show every one of the over 6000 vehicles which are participating in HDRT 2023, but many of them are recorded, captured along with some selected unique vehicles with their owners, developers, builders as the pale green Dodge truck from Maine, the old orange/brown Hot Rod from Illinois and each one You stopped by to note, admore and share. All The Best, Sincerely

No hate but the HRPT is not the most organized event. Also who in the heck would want to be out directing traffic in a parking lot as an event coordinator when they could be out driving in their car. As for me I was stuck at work.

Nobody wanted to listen to ME when I keep telling everybody, guys, if you PAINTED YOUR ROOF OF THER CAR WHITE , the car would be 20 degrees cooler inside the cockpit. but NOOooooooooooo leave it the most HOT color there is, FLAT BLACK soooooooooooooooo now suffer fools. We who have been doing this for decades know better then to paint a car BLACK!. . The most important thing to work on for a power tour is to have working A/C in the car ! NOTHING is more important.------> P/S 210 Water temp in a Pontiac is waaaaay to HOT for a 400 Pontiac. 170 degrees is the temp to shoot for with a Pontiac as they like to spin bearings at 210 ! been there.

@hydroy1; You are correct about light colors to paint the vehicle, especially the roof, but not limited to the roof, since all of the body is metal, the entire passenger area is surrounded by the doors, rear quarters, next the rear, trunk lid, thus all of the body transfers heat into the passenger area. Also the engine, transmission, exhaust heat transmit too. Also a light color interior, at least a tan or light brown is also important too. As for Your claim about the water/coolant temperature You are clearly based in falsehood. Every internal combustion engine will run the optimal when the coolant temperature is 210-1 F up to 220-5 F. See the SAE data from 1972-3 onward. All NASCAR, road racing, other circle track racing, etc. know the proper operating temperatures for many years prior to my lifetime [64] Lower and higher temperatures than optimal result in more engine, components wear, less efficient combustion, more fuel consumption, reduced performance. Also better quality oil along with oil coolers are important and essential too. => The best lubrication, oil is synthetic known by the German & USA Military, along with others since WWII; thus MIL-STD since; especially required first within jet turbine and other turbine engines, then all others. The API [manufactures] refused to accept this change [obvious basis (all owned by JDRockefeller-StdOilInt'l]. A previous USAF jet pilot decided to study chemistry, develop synthetic oils thus developed his version then further improvements for public use. That synthetic became branded Amsoil [first Amzoil]. They still have the very best synthetic lubrication products available ->Their Signature Series engine oil has 24 Kmile/24 Moth Warranty with extensive test, comparison, enginering data including durability within fleet operation. Other private producers as JoeGibbs,RoyalPurple,Schaeffer's are close in quality -> All other major, minor, store brands are within the StdOilInt'l and equally mediocre. The manufactures set their thermostats very low in earlier vehicles and gradually increased them, especially as they added more precise controls via ECU-PCM with the appropriate sensors, electric fans, etc. => Thus 190-5 F is still not up to proper, optimum operating temperature; thus possibly not at optimum performance. The reading also depends upon the placement of the temperature sensor(s). All the Best, Sincerely

Also have an engine that runs is slightly more important than A|C second is at least 1-2 gears. The rest of the car are convince items
