2023 GMC Canyon Denali Review

The 2023 GMC Canyon, now in its third generation, offers enhanced power and off-road capabilities, despite having fewer variants compared to its sister model, the Chevrolet Colorado. The Canyon first hit the market in 2005, was discontinued in 2012, then revived in 2015. The most recent iterations of both the Canyon and the Colorado are starkly different from their previous versions. Historically, the Denali's chrome wheels and additional chrome accents indicated a smoother, street-friendly vehicle. However, the latest Canyon models all feature off-road hardware, except for the top-tier AT4X, which takes off-roading to another level.

I think it’s perfect. There’s a need for midsized trucks but most seem too small. This is just a hair bigger but not a full size v8, definitely will consider. Biggest things for our family is having small children, their child/infant seat takes up a lot of room

LOL, IF you can find one. There are NONE available within a 100 miles radius of me. ALL GMC stealerships do not carry this out of the 12 locations within a reachable driving distance (i.e. not more than 1-1.5 hours). I think GMC is cutting production to keep the price inflated. I won't bother anyway. Will look at their competition. This is why VW was lazy to not bring the Amarok to the States.

What I can't figure out is how the Dakota has a longer hood (with a V8), more interior volume and back seat space by far, and the same size bed but ends up looking tiny.

Yea I just took home an AT4 last week.. I'm out in southeast Michigan, my dealer wasn't stocked full of them but they did have seven, 3 Elevation 2 AT4 1 E1X and a Denali.. the Denali are a bit harder to find than the others, but there's definitely a few other dealers in the area i saw that have them .. I was lucky to find an AT4 that had pretty much all of the Denali options besides leather and HUD which I didn't mind anyways and was able to add rock rails, tonneau and removable front steps as dealer installed options..To my surprise there's actually more X's around than I had thought there'd be, and some without the E1 edition which lowers the price by about $8k so around mid-upper $50s and you still get basically everything except the front safari bar light bar and winch.. I enjoy weekend off roading but not enough to utilize the front locker and DSSV etc on the X and would've been almost $11k more being an E1 edition...plus I've been wth my dealer over 15 years and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else so I had to choose from what they had.. my AT4 after discounts and accessories still came in under $50k so that sold it for me.. absolutely love it and looking forward to getting it muddy and havin some fun.. Edit, I'm just adding that the Edition One's options are essentially the same as the Desert Boss pack on the ZR2, which is also a $9k option.. over 60k for any premium midsize is hard to swallow but that's just the way of the world now, and these interiors and options are the best they've ever been, especially when compared to other trucks in the segment...

News update on GMC 2023 Canyon according to Google and CNN etc... If this is true then GMC management really screwed up from not offering 6 cylinder. Thinking that might be cause why they are in last place in sales now. They said they are in last place in sales for mid size pickups for 2023. I got the 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation a few months ago. It's in the 6 cylinder and in 4WD. The Canyon Denali looks awesome! The headlight control via the infotainment system vice on a switch stalk is bizarre. Deal breaker for me. Look to Toyota Tacoma function and reliability. Had two in the past. Owned each for 14 years.

With auto on/off and hi/low beams, you will never need to touch a headlamp switch.

Unfortunately all that tech is a huge annoyance tbh. Why are all these vehicle manufacturers trying to keep up with Tesla? Or any electric type vehicles❓ There should be more options to combat this but thats just what I think

I guess you can cash that check from GM now….. The engine is a horrible choice. And a Denali should be WAY more! “Pretty good truck” isn’t good enough.

Like most of GM's line up right now, it's headlights are in the wrong place and looks so weird and just dumb. It's a shame because other than that, it's looks like a nice truck. Still a hard no.

@@Loosie_fur never said it didn't. I don't buy a vehicle to sell it though, I buy it to use it. If resale is the reason you're buying it, you probably aren't needing it.
