Thank you for this comparison, like the fact that you try your best to get the trims as close as possible because there are other guys, doing reviews, but they base them on price and not trims, I prefer the way you do your reviews giving people the information and letting people worry about price themselves

Tundra has a full power rear window v the small window in the Ford. This you missed.

There's no F150 or Tundra anywhere on planet earth worth over $60,000. Absolutely insane!

​ The 348hp tune is only available in the base SR work truck trim. Every other trim (except Capstone and TRD Pro) gets the 389hp/479lb-ft tune as standard. The Toyota website says this clearly. As others have mentioned, the tow mirrors are optional on both the Tundra and F-150 and are there to see behind trailers that are wider than the standard mirrors. Also, the entire rear window on the Tundra is power up/down. Totally agree though on the difference in features and outward visibility.

Kind of stinks that he couldn't get a hybrid, the differences are pretty big. The tundra doesn't get near as good MPG as the Powerboost, so not only is the tundra less efficient, it's slower. Can only go into full-electric below 18. The battery fills up the entire under storage of the rear seat, a real deal breaker. And probably the biggest - would be the lack of generator in a hybrid. Kind of feels like they Rush this truck to the market and they left a bunch of stuff lacking on the engineering side.

I have a '20 F150 Platinum (wife's daily) so it's not the updated body style but I would still take it over the Tundra. It has most of what the new gen offers (I wish it had the larger screen, 360 camera etc) but it feels the same as the new gen from behind the wheel and I believe the chassis and dimensions are all the same. We have really loved having it, esp after putting a MPT stg 1 tune on it. I looked at a Tundra a few months ago while helping my mother in law buy a car and I wasn't very impressed. It looks good but it doesn't feel as solid. I'm sure it's a great truck in its own right, but compared to the domestics, they all score about the same in reliability and to me, the domestics all do trucks better. I would not trade our '20 F150 for a new Tundra. At some point we will probably upgrade to the new F150 or maybe the Ram, mainly for the new I-6 and that Klipsh audio system.

I love em both!.infact they are among my 3 fav pick up truck brands,the third being Nissan.

Actually Ford had a limited run of trucks where the entire rear window rolled down years ago.

I have to question your stated payload/cargo capacity on both trucks. I couldn’t find a Tundra Limited with a payload capacity above 1400 lbs. And a F150 with the Powerboost 3.5 with the Max tow package also has a payload below 1400. Please correct me if you know where I can buy either truck with the same equipment and a payload over 1600 lbs.

You are correct, I have the 2024 tundra iforce max limited, and my payload is 1390 lbs!

That Ford has 7.2 kw propower on board, I know because its outlet setup is identical to mine. If it were the 2.4 or 2 you'd have 2 standard outlets but there are clearly 4 of those plus a 240

I have a 2023 powerboost hybrid and i love it

Those big mirrors are an option on the Tundra and are are available on some F150 models. While they may seem big and in the way at times, they are super handy and a must when towing a camper or other big trailer. I’ve owned Toyotas and Fords sand love them both, still a tough call for me as which is the best.

Just came from a video by motor feed channel and the f150 is doing baaaadd... mark ups, recalls, not just with the f150, but the 250, 350, marverick, bronco, and the ev versions! Anything from tpms, steering, transmission, catastrophic engine failure possibilities... i had no idea it was like that. And many of the XLTs are 55k and up! When in 2018 they were starting at 35k. I do like em but i think toyota is the way to go and i also like the looks on the new tundra a lot more but it is shocking how many problems for trucks that are expensive af! Ford also lost $2 billion in lawsuits!

I'm 6 ft and fit in the rear of the Tundra with no issues and plenty of head room. The problem is people with longer torso. They have issues. When they go in other trucks it's the same thing. You were almost touching the Ford headliner when you sat in the rear too.

The tundra has the better mirrors, rear window( sliding up/down) , interior LED lighting in high trims, and they look better when lifted a bit and bigger off road tires. I still love my 22 platinum 5.0v8 though.

@@SamCarLegion I drive semi trucks, I know the importance of mirrors and visibility. I’ve owned a 2018 Tundra and now a 2022 platinum f150. The tundras bigger mirror Made it much more easier to see the side of the truck and other lanes. Didn’t even have a blind spot with them. My ford has a slight blind spot but it’s not terrible, it’s just the tundra is a little better. But Who really depends on Cameras? I guess some people need them , i think they are just good for parking perfectly, like getting close to a curb. But they aren’t as accurate. it depends on the person. I’ve started driving at 15 with a car with no cameras at all, it’s all about experience/skill/ preference at the end of the day.

Yeah, there's a lot I like about the Tundra but the flat floor is one many features I love about the F150. I'm always surprised more trucks don't have it.

I stopped looking at the tundra because of the back seat headroom (I am 6'6") and if you get a hybrid you lose the under seat storage in the 2nd row.

I have a 2022 F150 Platinum with the Powerboost that has been in the shop every other month since I owned it. Ford is the process of looking into a buy back deal because it has been so bad. I love the Ford, but it will be a Toyota for me because I need a truck I can actually drive and not have sitting in the repair shop.

The Tundra is like a 2014 model F150 - v6 twin turbo - still has the hump in the back - etc.. The reliability in Toyota comes from not offering all the features of Ford and only releasing a new model every 15 years. i like Toyota's too - but it's the additional features you can't get with the Toyota that holds Toyota back.

Actually the optional side step on Tundra is more convenient. It hides out of the way. It is easier to step on because its on the side. I say better than the other manufactures. The bumper is not made to be stepped on in the first place. With the tailgate down you can't step on the bumper on most models. A bumper is not made to be standed on. It's to protect the rear.

GM's bumper steps are by far the best in the segement. Easily accessible and won't suddenly fail on you. It doesn't take much to damage or rip off those deployable steps like on the Tundra or Ram, and Ford's tailgate step just requires too much unnecessary effort.

@@dallasfrost1996 if your talking about the side bed step that's on the higher trims of Tundra those are strong enough and out of the way. It's not part of the bumper, so it is better because you're not suppose to step on a bumper in the first place. It's not meant for that.

@@johnrambo4082 The Tundra's deployable "bumper" steps sit lower than GM's proper built-in bumper steps. There's more chances for the Tundra's steps to get caught on potential obstacles and/or damaged on off-road terrain (like when approaching steep upward hills/off-road trails). Not to mention Toyota's steps are electronically operating, which could potentially malfunction as well. In comparison, GM's bumper steps are *fully* tucked away and are always accessible no matter what. GM's bumper steps are also actually designed to take weight, they've been doing this feature for almost a decade now. No issues with them. Simple but highly effective solution for bed accessibility. So effective in fact that Ford has now copied GM with this feature for their most recent Superduty trucks.

The trim you got in the Tundra makes 389 HP and 479 ft/lbs of torque. You quoted the specs for the SR trim Tundra.

If it doesn’t have a V8, I’m not considering it, and y’all can keep your hybrid. Don’t want one. I want a straight 5 liter V8 with a towing package. That’s why I have a truck - to tow big trailers. If you’re not giving me that, I’ll go somewhere else. Don’t care about any of the other bullshit.

I picked up my 2023 F150 XLT PB last month after ordering it last November. I picked F150 PB over 2023 Tundra over its features and design. I just don't like how new Tundra looks. For reliability, mine came with a bad turbo which was replaced under warranty but I also viewed few real Tundra owner's youtube videos and noticed the new Tundra also has some quality issues. I agree that Toyota is more reliable in general but their vehicles are often lack of new techs and new ones are not as reliable as old ones. I learned it from my recent experience with new Honda & Toyota that I sold recently. Moreover, Toyota dealers bear me still charge 3000-4000 markups on every vehicle on their lots. I drove mine 1100 miles back home but I got almost 10k off from its msrp.

That tundra gonna be around a lot longer more often than not lol

Sir. I'm a 2 year Powerboost Lariat owner. The Powerboost engine does comes on as needed to generate AC power. Your comment that it has its own generator doesn't paint a realistic picture. If you put a load on the AC power, the engine will run. I like mine, especially the 435 hp and 570 foot pounds of torque. I still get 25 mpg on 87 octain on the highway. Complaints... My seat and driver door rattle already. Kind of disappointing from 2 years of light use. Truck has remote start. However it almost always starts in electric mode. 2 draw backs to this.. 1) Air Conditioner doesn't cool effectively until the gas engine starts. I've started my truck remote 10 minutes early only to find the cabin and seats are still hot. 2) by starting in electric, your oil must sits in the pan. No oil circulating at low idle. Instead the engine kicks in while on the road and turning at 2,500 rpm. Not sure if this damages anything. However metal rubbing metal can't be good. Seems like Ford could fix this Over The Air by turning on the gas engine during remote start. At least when temps are above 80, or below 40. Let that gas engine warm up and circulate oil. I'd love to see an aftermarket plug in battery to extend electric range.

Let's talk when both trucks are at 100k, if there are any shortcomings with the Tundra, they will be in the rear view mirror, plus resale and of course reliability....

In my opinion, the perfect truck has to have a more rigid suspension, less technology, reliability and rear window on the tundra 😎 and if one day I need my truck to park itself, it means I can't drive and I need a bicycle 😂

I will take a Toyota any day of the week over a Ford because I hate repair bills and the last Ford gave me hell. Even with the Wastegate issue which was identified and fixed I would buy that Tundra. One thing I hate is to still be making payments after warranty is gone and getting stuck with a huge bill. Odds are Toyota will cost less over total ownership. Just my opinion though I have seen some of the nightmares the Eco-Boost has caused. Ford is a Crap shoot you either get a good roll or a bad roll.

Paying 10-12 grand for a ne w engine before it hits 100k after shelling out 70-80 grand is not for me I will let you domestic buyers enjoy that. Our business runs a fleet and I see 1st hand how often modern domestics break down and how expensive it is the fix. I will take my chances with Toyota being slower to adopt new tech so I do not have to be their beta testers paying the bill for them:P

You have a choice on getting different engine different features etc. if I were running a business it would be a different model for sure with less features and less to break. There’s a reason ford is selling 10x more than Toyota. BTW checkout the newly released 2023 reliability and forum on the Tundra.

I've owned six Toyotas, I think I'll stick to what I know and trust. Bells and whistles only carry so much weight with me.

I think there are two problems with the Toyota when comparing, both related Fords Aluminum. Fords won’t body rust (a big issue some climates, esp wheel wells), get much better fuel economy (my 2.7 eccoboost is amazing).

@@mkyhou1160 Aluminum doesn’t rust but it will corrode from road salt, a problem in my climate, so neither are perfect. If I wasn’t buying it as a tow vehicle the smaller ecoboost engine would be a plus (I know two people who have it) but I want the greater HP and torque of the bigger engine and I’m willing to pay for poorer mileage.

Your also wrong the 1794 comes with option for power running boards that also hide when doors is closed just like the Ford you show. I know because I own a fully loaded 1794.

Tundra dumped the thirsty V8 and did what ford did ,V6 twin Turbo but Ford has the option for the V8, tundra no option. To me the tundra front end looks like an after market grill, the rear looks stunning, the ford has lots of bells and whistles, Take the F150

You can get the tow mirrors added in the f150 as well

The Tundra you are comparing is not a Platinum but a 1794. The engine is the same but strange that this obvious difference is wrong. Moreover, both the Platinum and 1794 offer the retractable running boards and bed step as an option, just like the Ford. Retractable running boards are not standard on the Ford.

SAME DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT ONBOARD POWER. The F150 has a battery, and a large INVERTER. The only generator is used to charge the battery. Its sometimes called an alternator.

I bought a 23 Platinum Powerboost. I test drove a Tundra when shopping, and to me there is no comparison. Secondly, the Toyota dealership in my area is still charging markups on their Tundras. There’s no way I was going to pay a markup for a Tundra, or any other truck for that matter.

The last Ford truck I owned was in the shop more times than the previous four Toyotas. The wife's ten year old Honda was more reliable than that brand new F250.

I like both trucks, but at over 100k for the Ford I’d be living in it 😅. I just can’t believe how expensive vehicles have gotten. Wages certainly have not kept up with inflation. It’s hard to imagine how an average guy would be able to afford one of these or any other new vehicle for that matter. Crazy!

Sam, a very important point about the backseats. The flat floor in the back seat of the F150, with the folding storage under the seats, allows us to slide our dog kennel into the back seat. We use a 2x6 piece on the floor, the front of the kennel to level it. Our dog and us love her in the kennel, inside the truck cab, as opposed to loose in the back seat area or on the seats, or in the bed of the truck. We tie down the kennel with straps, so it is safe in case of a wreck. She is protected, and has AC and heat, we use a heavy duty Gunner kennel, she cannot stick her head between the front seats and slobber, we use the single side of the back seat to hang extra clothes and she can’t get into them, she sleeps and relaxes in the kennel, instead of trying to help me drive by looking out the window and barking at squirrels, Lord knows, I’ve l already installed an auxiliary steering wheel and fake brake pedal in the front passenger compartment, so the wifey feels comfortable, giving me driving advice. Very important, we save the back sets from claw marks, even with a seat protector, you should see the back seat of my Jeep. Oh, about the mirrors, you can order the F150, with the larger, extending and power folding mirrors, found as standard equipment in the F250+, with the same features, as the Tundra mirrors. I plan on ordering the larger mirrors, they are more convenient and required for any significant towing. My opinion, anyway. Great review, I really enjoyed it. I will be ordering a new 2024 1/2 ton truck. Your review was one more reason why I am ordering the F150 Powerboost. PS, I had a 2012 F150 4x4, with the 3.5 Ecoboost engine and loved it. 120,000 miles, 6 years of commuting and trailering a Winnebago, without a single problem. Loved it. Did regular oil changes, as the truck computer system advised, between 8 and 10k miles, with the best synthetic oil I could buy, used the same oil every time. Did lab tests on the oil and had zero issues with the oil or the truck. Sold it in 2018 to a friend, he has 160,000 miles on it, without a problem.😊😊😊

Let's check back at 250,000 miles.

Ford is always pushing tech and trying to give everyone the comfort of a home, while still trying to be as reliable as possible, but its hard when trying to give everyone everything they want, peace of mind, which also comes in the mode of recalls and being able to fix them, unlike other brands where there is literally no help or service for them, like gm which over heats due to tight engine design, then you have dodge which makes decent engines but also has all the transmission problems and no servicing, toyota is over hyped the make is reliable as fuck compared to other brands cars yes they also are great but you have to also remember there made for thier peoples sizes thats why there so small, compared to american brands like ford you can fit 2 cows while tundra and the other brands can fit 1.5 cows, point is every brand company has thier own thing they offer just depends which you like and which you want to work with.

If you can get past your fanboy mindset, you’ll realize the big three love to pile tech into their trucks that is poorly engineered or built. From over complicated motors to gimmicky options that inevitably fail. Brand loyalty and waving the flag will only cost you more money down the road.

Love my f-150 22 Lariat.

Tundra has a better second row. You can see and I’ve tried it for myself.m, that on the f150 the bench seat is lower to the ground and the seat provides less leg and thigh support. Feels like your knees are in your chest when sitting ins exons row of f150 as an adult.

Do the same comparison, with the exact same trucks, in 12 years.

On the F-150 that step that comes out is absolute trash it catches Sand and Stone inside it is a nightmare. Also on my 2016 that had that exact step the cover for the step actually it just clips in and it came off in the 1st year of use.

Easy choice … Ford builds the best trucks with the most options. Have owned 3 F-150s and all were extremely reliable. If I want a little commuter car, then I might consider something from Japan: Honda or Toyota.

So, you wanna tell me Toyota couldn't measture from arss to the roof and ensure there is at least room for 7.5ft. Toyota don't know where to compensate.

Ford can put all those gadgets and gizmos on them and more , but at the end of the day it's still a Ford. The Tundra has been engineered to last many miles , for longevity and reliability. To each their own......I buy Toyota even without all those gizmos . But thanks for your opinion

That is a 1794 Edition Tundra not a "Limited Platinum Edition Tundra", which does not exist. If you actually meant the "Platinum Edition Tundra" that does exist and sadly will never have a TRD Off-road option package until Toyota decides to make it an option.

Toyotas Info Paper shows: 2023 Tundra CrewMax Platinum with Option Platinum 1794 for$1200. So you are most definitely wrong :)

I had 4 Ford Expeditions and busted my last one in for a Tundra Limited 4x4 as I need an open bed now. So far the Toyota is fine except v for the really ugly front grill - talk about over kill. Also don’t line the dash board layout with small buttons. Gas mileage doesn’t seem as good as the Ford but it’s too early to tell as I only have 44 miles on the Tundra.

That grill on the Tundra is awkward. I am waiting to purchase the 2024 F150 instead. The refresh makes it look much better.

So I have had the Toyota tundra 2007 and little Toyota Tacoma many yes that’s all they have is reliability for sure if u looking for a engine last u half million miles go for it but if you’re looking for a real work truck Ford is the way to go yes, it might have issues recalls but I’ve had fords since I gave up on Toyota brakes would burn at 12,000 miles and suspension was weak for heavy payloads and gas was terrible in towing guess what ford has proven to me brakes have lasted way longer almost 45,000 or more miles more comfortable and pulls tows and payloads can handle way better there just great work trucks yes might not last more 200,000 miles but that’s why I sell them at 120,000 miles get new one and enjoy new ones all time guess what Toyota will last but u got out new paint job repairs after a long time also from keeping them to long so if u think about it it comes almost to about the same thing I feel ford has a better work truck and daily driver Toyota is cheap plastic inside and just engine and transmission will last but everything else will fall apart like any other car there always behind on technology so Toyota still has a lot of things to still improve on Chevy man the truck just sucks lol had it too payload is weak there system break if u over tow it it was always in the shop Nissan was better then Chevy I think the truck is just for looks only built like dirty not a rock lol

1794 is the best trim

I’m blown away by the headroom in the tundra, I’ve been in the back of a VW bug and that had more headroom.

I am 6’1” and I fit in my ‘23 tundra just fine. I don’t feel cramped or like the headspace is too small.

Hahaha..... $70k+ without any possibility of negotiating down from MSRP (thanks to Joe Biden and his non-stop inflationary spending and zero results on fixing the supply chain) is not exactly what I would call a 'great price.' Also - I don't believe he mentioned another down-side to the Tundra: Tundra has a 'hump' in the center of the rear passenger floor, making storage of large boxy items difficult..... F150 is completely flat from door to door. And, if he checked on the forums, he would note that the Tundra is having massive issues with annoying air/wind leaks around the poorly designed door seals.... as well as flimsy interior hardware that breaks and rattles galore.

This guy doesn't know the mirrors on the Tundra are tow mirrors or that the rear window doesn't have the little added small window like the Ford does but that's because the whole window comes down on the Tundra he needs to do research before doing a video I sat in a 1794 Tundra in the back seat just an hour ago and the headroom is plenty and I'M 6 feet tall no problem not sure why he couldn't straighten his head up.

First person I’ve seen who admitted they liked the front of the new Tundra. 😳🤢. Ford has foldable tow mirrors as an option, too. Also, how about those front recovery hooks on that Tundra?? 😂

@@daytrading5456 because people know the shouldn't risk taking it off road? The reason the Tundra doesn't have front tow hooks is to preserve their 2% reliability margin over Ford. When owners put front tow hooks on them, and bring it in for repair Toyota notes it's a "modified truck" and reject the warranty repair for that reason, indicates how much confidence they have in the Tundra.

I like the look of the 2023 Nissan Titan Platinum reserve over both of these

I own a powerboost.. my suggestion is tundra.. the powerboost is junk.. yeah the powerboost gets great mpg, in most scenarios, and it is way more comfortable, but it squeaks and rattles, and is built like crap.. at 5k miles my drivers door arm rest is delaminating, the passengers headlight fills with water, and the mirrors as in this video are way too small. the sync 4 is a freemium application, you pay for everything but only if you allow them to record your driving habit's, speeds, and record you in the cabin, otherwise you get a radio and carplay/android auto that randomly disconnect. the only real bonus of the f150.. it's fast.. comfortable, and economical.. everything else the toyota is better.. and in 60k miles that's what I'll own..

Soo much for the money? Some of the highest, and most inflated prices Automobile buyers have ever seen. Ford Inflated the MSRP to stop Dealers from Marking up the trucks. These are not good deals. I Like both of these trucks. They are the 2 I would choose between when I buy one in the next year. But these prices are crazy, regardless of features. When the prices fall over the next year or two. They might become good deals again. But not now.

Should have compared a capstone to a limited. Capstone come standard with the automatic running boards and automatic bed steps.

Can’t beat Toyota’s reliability and price. The Tundra has road presence as well. It’d be the pick for me.

You mean the 2% margin Toyota has over Ford in terms of reliability? And of course while Toyota has a dedicated department to refute warranty claims, Ford does not have that role, instead they work closely with customers to resolve issues and improve the vehicles to correct design to reduce warranty claims. I buddy of mine has that job at Ford for the Southeast. Keep in mind issues with sync contribute more than the 2% margin. so when you're actually talking components that matter the Ford is more reliable than the Toyota.

F150 probably has the most truck sales still, so that makes sense for the recalls. The Tundra was also called back for recalls as well.

Agreed. Ford's tailgate step requires too much unnecessary effort to use. GM's bumper step is by far the best in the segement for bed accessibility
