    The range of fans in your collection never fail to amuse me. Seems like you’ve acquired a lot more antique fans since last year? Can’t wait to see the 6 bladed one get your magic restoration touch haha

    I guess so! Both of the 1912 Westinghouse fans are in just-barely-running condition, so there'll surely be videos when I restore them. The bearings on the 6 blade fan are shot so that repair should be interesting to look into lol.

    Thanks Matt! I typically post videos on Saturdays, and since the 30th fell on a Saturday this year, I figured it would be perfect to post it then. I've posted the montages on the 30th before too; for 2017 and 2021 if I recall correctly.

    Thanks Colin! Honestly I'm not sure how I'm pulling it off either lol! My appreciation and appetite for early fans have been growing a lot in the recent years, but I still like some of the post-80s stuff. There's something about the "not-new-but-relatively-new" feeling of 90s and early 2000s fans that's keeping me hooked!

    Just watched this on KZread for the second time today, the first time with & the second time without the sound or music on, seeing how the world is from someone who is deaf or hard of hearing, btw I'm not deaf or hard of hearing or have any "sound buds" in my ears. I still can talk, but I just want to pretend to speak in ASL, just to learn something that I forgot about years ago in the past, in my childhood, growing up and going to school and just to get inside and mess with people's minds.6:02, the Everyday Essential 8" Fan from 2012 looks new. I'm surprised that it doesn't have a protective grill to keep fingers & anything else out of the way from the blades. 8:42, the Westinghouse 12" desk fan from 1912, I'm also surprised that it has 6 blades. I'm also surprised that the 12" Holmes High velocity fan from the 2000's has a spining grill & it oscillates like & unlike the Sears 12" fan from 1989. Happy 2024 🙂👍💒🙏🤟.

  • @TheSuperFanMan

    Thanks! Happy New Year to you as well. The Everyday Essentials is definitely a weird one; I think it's a copy of the Black+Blum Propello fan. It has soft rubber blades and runs pretty slowly, so curious fingers would be safe from any harm lol. The 6 blade Westinghouse was a residential model, which ran slower than the 4 blade models, thus quieter. I would say the Holmes HV fan is currently one of the most unique fans I have, for the very reason you mentioned!

    Great channel. I have a Meaco fan with a brushless motor. It is making loud noises like something is rubbing together. I think the bearings need lubricating, but when I take the motor out it seems to be a sealed unit. I can’t see how to get inside. Any ideas what’s wrong or what I should do? Thank you

  • @TheSuperFanMan

    @TheSuperFanMan

    24 күн бұрын

    Thank you! I'm not familiar with that particular fan, so I'm not sure what type of bearing it has. Most motors can be taken apart even if they have a totally-enclosed design. If it has ball bearings, they will need to be replaced. Sleeve bearings can be oiled. I would say try running the fan with the blades removed. Sometimes the blades can rub against the shroud and make a racket. If the noise is still there, the bearings likely do need attention. Feel free to ask any questions that come up!
