A 2023 Esquif Mallard XL square end canoe’s winter shakedown cruise with a Torqeedo 603 2HP motor and a cheap Mustang Mac300 Survival Suit’s immersion protection layer from eBay. The temperature was a bit above freezing. This was my first time out on this boat. I averaged about 5.2 mph on this breezy winter day with some chop on the river. This is a very light weight setup I carried from my parked car (where I was standing at the end of the video) to the water behind me. The boat weighs about the same as my 8 foot roll up inflatable dingy, but was less awkward to carry distances and is much faster (at least 1 MPH) with the same motor. I am sitting on the floor of the boat, since the seat was too far rear for my weight riding solo. Not a problem since I'll typically be traveling with others.
