@William Arrington I enjoyed my modified 6 speed manual 94 Supra. I definitely didn't want an auto transmission. You might be younger than me, I'm 51 and car guys wanted manual transmissions. Now if I wanted to win a race I'd go with these new transmissions. Other manual cars that I owned where a 1991 Trans Am, and I think it was 1991 for a Camaro, 1993 Mustang 5.0. A 1998change the cluth in an hour Mustang, 94 Supra and a fuel sipping VW Jetta TDI. It was the thing to own back then. Not so much these days. The new performance cars with auto transmissions are quite a bit faster. I used to work on my own cars from the late 80's until about 10 years ago. I burned out the clutch on my supercharged Mustang so many times, that I could put the car on a lift and change the clutch and flywheel in about an hour. New Mustangs are crazy powerful compared to the Mustangs back then.

Jack Speed Imagine that it would be the same speed. What vehicle redlines at top speed? None, because it would be a stupid design. Overdrive (highest gear) is meant to get better gas mileage and a quieter ride when cruising. In other words it is geared higher than the power of the engine can reach max RPM. You can't just keep adding higher gears and go faster than the HP can supply. Top gear is purposely limited in RPM, limited by the power of the engine.
@raconteur5195

@@gordthor5351 On a long straight highway with a tail wind, wouldn't the car go faster without the limiter?
@gordthor5351
Жыл бұрын
@@raconteur5195 Considering that the RPM limiter is a gear ratio higher than the motor has power to reach max RPM, the opposite would be true. If we assume a car has 5 gears and it was designed to redline in 4th gear at max speed (flat ground and no wind), then it can't go any faster down hill or with a tailwind. 5th gear would be able to go considerably faster downhill or with a tailwind, because it still has more RPM in the bank. Thus it can take advantage of the added power from gravity, or wind. Everything is a trade off with gearing and HP, so it's up to the driver to use the most optimum gear for the current situation.

It always makes me want to stand up and cheer. I'm so glad Chevrolet put the engineers in charge for the most part, but everyone on the Corvette Team should be proud of all the work, from the interior to the hair-raising sound of that big V8. It's an honest-to-God supercar right off the showroom floor that your grandmother could drive to the bakery while you go autocrossing on the weekend. And your local Chevy dealer can service it. I grew up (teenage years) in the 80s and I remember how incredible the 1984 Corvette seemed at the time. It couldn't hold a candle to this machine. It's really one of the few bright spots in America over the past several years and I salute everyone involved with it.

I have a sprinter van and i drive 140kmh with it and i have to "push" those left lane tourist to the right all the time, so it's not that great when there's alot of trafic. And keep right as much as possible is a basic rule here in europe, so you may only drive on the left lanes to overtake, and when you're done you must keep right again, but alot of people wipe their azz with that rule and drive like americans, so in a lane that suits them best and don't give a damn who's behind them. And it's also not alowed to overtake on the right, so when a sucker doesn't move to the right, then you just have to wait until he does, and they never get fined for that is the most worse part, because the cops don't see it as a priority.

It’s been a rocky road but since the C5 Z06 the Corvette has been world class performance for a lot less money than the Euro cars.
Like the way he keeps his distance from cars ahead. Not like some aho' tailgaters we get here.
I’ve got the 2023 C8 HTC Z51 and can regularly get under 3.2 sec 0-60 using launch control. If I don’t use launch control it takes about 3.4 to 3.6 seconds. Best thing about this car is the chassis and mag ride suspension. I’ve had several BMW M cars over the years and none of them are as sophisticated in the chassis/suspension department. I wouldn’t mind dropping the BMW S58 engine into my C8 though. That would be sweet!

on warm tires and a good surface you can get that below 3 seconds. I've seen as low as 2.4 at the strip

Would love to see the 2018 Dodge Demon on the Autobahn

The Demon's gearing is very low, the only dodge that breaks 200 MPH is the hellcat redeye and the viper

I've owned each of these. You're wrong. Neither would hit 200MPH. Viper was good for 180 max. Learn before you post.
I love the "left lane campers" comment. So true in the good old USA. LOL.
no talk what we need nice video bro
Guy designing that center console, probably never had girl sitting next to him in the car 😂😂
Talking about putting a speed limit on all highways in Germany is like talking about getting rid of the second amendment in America.

Atleast the arguments for a speed limit on the Autobahn are all fake and lies. There is zero benefit of getting a tempolimit.

Both are considered freedoms but one has real consequences while the other is already happening in literally every country that has roads regardless of speeds allowed. They're kind of the same but they really aren't.
Very impressive
American V8 muscle at its finest. What an exhilarating exhaust note. F@@king awesome machine.

@@lorddoosworth8175 Those numbers sound solid but the resulting performance is a lackluster and in modern standards this is not much grunt. I get what you're saying, but a hot modern hatch with a tune will keep up and that's not great when you consider the price of this thing in Europe. Hope that clears it up :)
I lived in the Nederlands and had family in Germany. I love the stretch of Autobahn! It contributed to my divorce for sure.

that 6.2l v8 weighs less than amg's 2.0 4 cyl engine :) and thats just the engine vs engine weight, not counting the batteries hiding in that mercedes pig in a blanket.

The C8 Z06 has the most powerful N/A V8 in the world making 670hp from a 5.5L V8 naturally aspirated flat crank plane engine. It sounds like a Ferrari tho
