It should be V6 3.6, even better the V8 6.2 LS3... When the eighth generation on the Epsilon II platform, shared with the Opel Insignia, was presented in 2013, they complained about the replacement of the V6 3.6 LY7 with 252 HP and 251 lb-ft, with the L4 2.0 Ecotec LTG with 259 HP and 295 foot-pounds, just for the number of cylinders and cubic centimeters. In this case, the 1.5 LFV delivers 160 hp and 184 lb-ft compared to the 2.4 LE5 with 165 hp and 166 lb-ft. All D-segment premium sedans use similar-sized engines in their base and mid-range.

@@aidan1585 They are using a regular gasoline direct injection, as usual today. They even didn't have the ability for a lean mix. The efficiency is here generated by a very high compression ratio.
