    Except can you really justify an extra 300+ dollars for a carbon bow that weighs a couple ounces different🤷‍♂️ for someone building there first bow that 300+ could be very helpful on buying a sight, release, arrows, etc. my last bow was a PSE and loading it up with everything I ended up spending 2200$ and if I went carbon it would’ve costed 2500 or more. Until there’s an actual weight difference that’s noticeable I wouldn’t go carbon plus they have more vibration then a normal bow

I own two aluminum bows that are lighter than there carbon bows with the same ATA. Diamond Infinite Edge 3.2 Lbs and PSE Dream Season Decree 3.7 Lbs.

    On my last 3 Elite bows, at 30" the cams wanted to rub the cables when the SET was put to center. Have you found this to be happening on this new cam? I haven't received my demo model yet. The rep said it was slated to ship last week but we didn't see it yet. The Omnia we received both needed to have the SET pushed all the way left on the bottom and right on the top to clear the cable from rubbing as the cam rolled over.

    People need to understand there’s so much more to carbon than just weight. Carbon has almost 4x the tensile strength as aluminum. It is also more riding and holds its original form better and less prone to bending. This helps with riser flex during shot. Carbon is also less thermal reactive than aluminum so it handles extreme temperatures better. And yes carbon is less dense than aluminum so comparing mass vs mass carbon weighs less. It just so happens some manufacturers will make a carbon bow that weighs similar to aluminum, that’s simply due to the amount of material used. Mathews new Phase 4 is $1400. I just got an RX7 Ultra for $1650 new from dealer. No carbon isn’t for everyone but before you bash it, research the materials first. There’s plenty of advantages to carbon and the amount of engineering involved is impressive. Side note: Hoyt has videos of them running over their carbon risers and picking them up and shooting. I’ve seen a Mathews riser get backed over by accident and the riser snapped in 3 places. Prime example of carbon strength

    Being a northern boy, I like to hunt late season. That being said, I'm a big fan of carbon bows. So glad to see more companies producing some carbon bows. With Bowtech and Elite being their first year at producing carbon bows I think they will have some growing pains along the way, however I think they had both put out some impressive bows this year and only to get better. I wonder if Mathews will dip their toes into the carbon risers?. However until then I think I will stick with my RX7 Ultra.

  • @Makka316

    @Makka316

    Жыл бұрын

    I think so. One of their designers said in an interview that there is embedded aluminium at the ends of the riser to allow the bolts to bolt in for the SET system. From the pictures it looks like the limb locking bolts could bolt into that as well though maybe they simply go right through a hole in the riser and bind the tabs on limb pockets against the sides of the riser? Whatever the case I'm quite intrigued as there looks to be some clever thought gone into a number of aspects in this bow design. Wasn't considering a carbon bow but I really want to try one of these out.

    It's interesting that some reviewers out there were so impressed with this bow. I was left wondering why - especially since they didn't give particular reasons in the reviews (looking at you Lancaster) Comparing it directly to the Hoyt RX-7 or the RX-7 Ultra, there is nothing particularly special about this bow. The Ultra is going to give you a longer riser, longer ATA, similar brace height, smoother draw cycle, and equal (relative to the sizes of the bows) physical weight - although it'll be about 7 fps slower (what you might expect given the draw cycle and the longer ATA). None of this is to say that the Elite isn't nice - but its not as if it is bringing anything new to the market as far as speed and specs. I think some reviewers were simply excited to see an truly new bow being released.

    @@ThumbsMcThumb I would also add that it has 3 different available mods to change the draw cycle to fit your own desire. Not to mention SET. No moving spacers around in a bow press to tune the bow. That isn't new, Elite has had these options for 3 years now, people are just starting to notice how much nicer they are to tune and set up.

  • @kellenpucher2849

    @kellenpucher2849

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ThumbsMcThumb Look - I am not trying to take anything away from the SET system, 1/4 draw adjustments, or the infinite letoff adjustment. But if I am being honest, none of those things add up to much difference when it comes time to shoot the bow. You want to adjust your draw length by 1/4 or 1/8"? Easy: cable twist or d loop length or both. Any good bow shop can get that part dialed in a matter of moments. It's a one time tinker and it is perfect forever. SET system? Sure! It's easier than using spacers - but personally, my last bow came out of the box shooting bullet holes so SET would offer me no value. Again, I am not saying those little things are not neat. But 99% of the bow's performance boils down to how it shoots once it's been set up correctly. My point is that this bow doesn't offer anything new or revolutionary in terms of actual shooting performance. Personally, I'd pick a Hoyt or the PSE Mach 34 simply because a.) longer ATA and b.) I think they look better.

  • @kellenpucher2849

    @kellenpucher2849

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ThumbsMcThumb Almost all bows can be adjusted without a bow press (both moving the module by 1/2" instead of 1/4" increments, and by tying a new D loop). Again - I'm not saying that 1/4" adjustments are not cool. But they are not that cool. If they prove to be useful, I bet Mathews, PSE and Hoyt will include these increments on their next modules/cam systems. Again, I'd pick either of the other bows I mentioned because they offer me +3" of ATA (something a lot of guys want) and I prefer the look of the risers. My only point is that there is nothing revolutionary about this bow compared to the industry when it comes time to draw and shoot. Then again, there is seemingly nothing revolutionary happening to bows in the last 3-4 years.
